On the other hand, the argument can be made that the existence of the sex bot is like the existence of rape porn i.e. it will amplify the man's desires for aggressive sex, which increases the risk that women are harmed.

Porn had shown to decrease the amount of sexual harassment/assaults not increase it.

Nah. It seems a bit weird to me that people think sex bots (whatever that actually is) will change anything considering how a man owning a sextoy is owned by both men and women. If anything, it has more to do with the aging population.

I personally want to remain single and childfree forever, so I don't care about dating men, but sex bots may help to keep men's sexual appetite satiated so they do not bother me.

Men are gonna pursue no matter what. You'll get less attention (relatively to what you get now) by getting older.

For example, if some man watches plenty of rape porn and wants to release all that pent up rapist desire then he may release it on me as I walk down the street one day.

This is satire, right? Because then, I have the perfect solution to all of your problems : you work from home, you order all of your food (although that might be a tall ordeal to see the face of the delivery man), and do not leave your home. Ever. That way, no risk of anything. Not even being run over by a clown on a bicycle while you walk the street.

In my opinion, regardless of which is more likely, I personally would rather just stay away from men and use technology to isolate myself from them e.g. in the future if there are self-driving cars then I imagine the public sphere will disappear and we will all be in our private physical spaces or bubbles, which reduces the likelihood of a woman being raped.

The functions that attract men to women are easier to automate compared to what men offer women. Sex dolls are not going to replace women for most well adjusted men but with time those men are declining and for men who are not getting a women of their standards, sex doll just makes more sense year on year.

Increase. They will condition men even further to believe consent isn’t necessary. Plenty of men can’t tell the difference between porn sex and reality, and this will make them even more selfish and bad at sex than most already are. Watching porn reduces empathy in viewers and makes them less likely to believe in and intervene in real life assaults against women. Men who watch porn usually seek out increasingly violent or bizarre material as their dopamine circuits fry. Imagine how frustrated they’re going to get when they eventually tire of their rape doll not fighting back? Jesus Christ.

It certainly won't increase the likelihood. It might decrease it, but I wouldn't bet on that either.

I don't think "sex bots" is where we're going with male sex toys though. I think we'll figure out something less cumbersome and...creepy to find stashed in one's closet before too long.

That, or we'll just formally legalize prostitution and make an app that lets you order them to your front door. There's obviously plenty of supply (women who want an easy path to making money) and plenty of demand (men who want to fuck) to facilitate this.

“Amplify desires” in this context is basically equivalent to “cause addiction”.

In such a case, the content that caused the addiction in the first place will always be easier to access than real women, and it’ll be no more common than it’s ever been to take that addiction out on them.

Now that said, a guy who’s been indulging too much in that kind of stuff and then chances into a relationship could run into issues trying to incorporate that into what they do together, which is a problem but if he’s reasonable, it’ll just doom the relationship and he’ll go back to that content and keep it as a substitute for real women.

I don't think they will have anywhere near as big an effect as other things. For example unaffordable housing leads to sharehouse living for young adults leads to opportunities for rape...so rape statistics probably hang off housing statistics to some degree. Sex dolls are always going to be pretty low down the list of things that affect rape statistics.
