Well, he left me.

2 weeks ago I posted here about my boyfriend of 8 months who hadn't said he loves me. I was very happy with him and his actions were strong. He would always go out of his way to care for me, such as when I was sick, and the way he looked at me was with love. Last week he gave me a beautiful art book, said that I'm his type, that I'm perfect.

He was made redundant 4 months ago from a good job and has struggled to get a job in his field, so he's in a low paying job. I always showed that I believed in him and also think that 4 months isn't that long, but it was really getting him down. I took advice from here to offer support and show that I am on his side. Last week I did something stupid though. He had a phone interview and I was present, and he told the person that he couldn't make an interview at 11am becasue he had an interview later at 2 pm. They also asked him why he wanted this job and he said it was to network and meet people in the field, and the recruiter told him that they didn't want to interview him anymore because of these two points. When he hung up he could tell I was shocked that he would say those things to the recruiter, and he got very upset and said that I think he's stupid.

On Friday he came around and said that he may need to move back to his home town and continue applying there. Until recently he used to say he wanted to live here mainly because of me, and job opportunities are better here. After he said that, he then kissed me, and then said that he wants to break up with me because he doesn't feel he loves me. We were both crying and since then he's been messaging saying he misses me and that I'm the only one who ever understöd him and he wants to confide in me but can't anymore. Why did he lead me on like this? Why was he so kind and caring with me, and spend all his time with me if he didn't love me?
