What will it take for the idiotic cops to realize the stupidity of what they're doing? I sincerely hope that the next one they charge for man-spreading, is the son, brother, or father of one of the cops who went out and arrested these guys.

Since the arrests were at midnight, it was either quotas or they were unruly, unkempt minorities. Or maybe the officers just felt like being dicks. My point is I doubt they're looking for people manspreading to arrest, it's more likely they wanted to arrest these people and manspreading was the BS charge they came up with.

1.So if I put my legs up on another seat

Put my bags on another seat
Sit in an awkward position that takes up more space than necessary
Be so physically revolting that no one will ever want to sit next to me

The above is non-exhaustive of course as there will be other ways to take up more space than necessary.

So if aforementioned acts will be me arrested, fair enough, over-fucking-zealous, but fair.

If that statute/regulation specifically prohibits sitting with my legs wide apart, than it is without a doubt as fishy as Paris Hilton's snatch.

If it turns out that this law disproportionately affects men, then that's called "disparate impact" and it violates the 5th and 14th Amendments of the United States Constitution and the Civil Rights Act of 1964. I'm not from USA, but AFAIK, your country has a lot of laws about sexes being equal, so I suppose you can prosecute women under this law. It may be called "manspreading" like it's called "manslaugter" when you kill people, but it must apply to both sexes. So I think you can very well make a picture and submit it to the police as a proof of crime, or something of sorts, and harass police into actually arresting women for this crime.
