I had a revelation last week. A pal moaned about the cost of taking his woman out frequently. He asked my group how much is guys spent in dating women.

I have been in a LTR for 9 years (from my 18 to 27) and been single for year and a half.

The way I see it a LTR can be good if you satisfy two requisites:

The girl must have a relative high SMV, for example if you're a 8 she's a 7 (minimum).
The girl must be really crazy about you.

If you've satisfy those two requisites and apply TRP you're good.

However being in a LTR is generally bad:

You get lazy. You don't have motivation to be better.
She has advantage in the sexual market. Guys will hit on your girlfriend and she will know what her options are. She always has the excuse - "oh it's not my fault he was hitting on me".
You fuck the same woman over and over. This a big one for me. Sex can become boring real fast. After months a HB8 becames a HB6.
The fear and risk of being cheated is always there.

Some cons that I'd add because we all know the pros-

The pressure from parents and family is tough. They want the best for you but they don't understand that the era when they got married is completely different from modern times. The pressure takes it's toll but worth ignoring.
Sometimes you'll want someone to have your corner, like the men who came back from battle, they have mistresses to nurse their wounds. Being single you don't have that, and sometimes in a moment of weakness you'll pick up a quick plate by dropping your SMV requirement a point or two and then when you recover wonder what the fuck you were doing.
Often times having someone as a sounding board for ideas keeps you grounded, in a "two heads are better than one" way. Sometimes following the lonely path of an alpha can mean you meander a bit off the beaten path, some contrasting viewpoints brings you back and centres you. Yeah, having male friends can solve this problem but your male friends aren't there all the time.

All said, these are the only downsides from not having an LTR. I cook and understand nutrition better than 90% of women out there, it takes me a meaningless amount of time for me to keep my home clean and laundry done so the only thing I really need women for are the aforementioned issues and sex.

There are times I think about how peaceful my life would be if I had a good girlfriend.

Great, honest post. I feel for you guys now, I am 57 and married 30 years, what does a guy do now? Sure banging alot of chicks is fun, but it takes alot of work and there are many dry, lonely spells. And how long do you want to keep doing it? Then having a ltr could be great or could be a mistake of a lifetime. I can give no advise, the ltr worked for me. Will it work for others? Thanks for a thoughtful amd intelligent post OP. You have made an excellent list and I am sure all guys who are over 25 think about this stuff. I have lived both lives, single with plates and one night stands, and I have also had a 20 year relationship with a girl who I thought was my unicorn. I have only been single for 8 years so I am more experienced with life in an LTR. The best ways I can describe the differences between the two would be as follows:

-the grass is always greener on the other side. When you are in an LTR you long for fresh women. On the other hand you have sex on tap with someone who loves you. My ex would have died for me, I was her Chad. We shared everything together. Life can be pretty good when you have a HB8 who worships you, does all of your housework, wakes you up with blowjobs and gives you full access to her substantial family inheritance.

-think of a good LTR like a long family drive. Nice and comfortable, low risk, not many highs and not too many lows. I've been single for a big part of my life. You get used to it quickly. It's gotten to the point where absolute monogamy utterly terrifies me. Basically I end up sabotaging the relationship or the chance thereof. Experienced both sides and I can honestly say that relationships suck the fun out of life. Having to deal with the same woman will get boring at best and unbearable at worst.

Obviously i'm not abstaining myself from women so the hazardous chance remains that I might end up dating one that wants to lock me down. Best thing to do at this point is going full on uncaring asshole. She will filter herself out of your life quickly. "My feelings are just slow" is my favorite excuse when a woman starts pressuring me. It allows me to continue banging her while she invests more and more in the offshoot that i'd commit.

Now ever since the end of my second LTR I've laid down some basic rules when it comes to commitment. I always aim for 6 to 12 months max. Make sure to unfriend and block any SJW's or White Knights that might involve themselves in the drama your ex SO will inevitably conjure up.
Never break up in the winter. Her instinct to cozy up will only make her cling more to you.

Take that chance and swiftly break up and kill all contact under the pretense that she "ruined any chance she had".

If this doesn't work and she remains loyal to you, up the drama. Prey that she picks a fight with you. When she does, use that as an excuse to next her. Sadly women often end up wanting that which you don't want. Betabucks wants eternal love but gets cuckraped instead. Alphafucks wants minimal sappy love confessions but ends up wading through pink letters. The irony won't be lost on you when your ex SO ends up sending you one of these dreadful walls of text to keep you in orbit. It will appear like her 8 year old brother typed it, but make no mistake -this is her doing. Turn off your phone and go radio silent for 2 days minimal. When you turn it on again, tell her that your phone died on you and you received no messages from her. Repeat this process every time she pulls this crap.

Friends of mine have argued that going "fake beta" ends things more cleanly. I strongly disagree, more often than not this will reach the opposite result. She will embrace this beta side of you. Her attraction might be gone but she'll still be around. This also kills of any chances for future plating when you find yourself in a dry spell. If nothing has worked up to this point- take the time to collect your thoughts. It's perfectly fine to have nightmares during this time. Accept the cold and harsh reality, she's unwilling to leave you at this point. You might have to break up with her face to face.

Allow yourself some alone time while you write her a message. In this message you explain to her that you're dealing with allot of stress lately. Tell her that you need to "discover who you are outside of the relationship". It's important that you hit these key notes:

It's not her, it's you.
You need time to work on your future.
Recently you discovered that your aunt has breast cancer and family comes first.
You want to meet new people.

Now all these acting classes will finally pay off. You need to act like your heartbroken due to the separation. In order to avoid having to engage in closure dialogue it's best to end the conversation quickly. Tell her that you're gonna hit the bed because you're exhausted and that you will talk to her tomorrow. Next day you ignore her texts. Answer them briefly in the evening, then continue to ignore her for double the time again. Repeat this process until you trained her to expect a reply every 14 days. At this point you have reduced your investment to the bare minimum. If all goes well the soft next will be successful after two months.

Congratulations, you've escaped captivity. Now enjoy your summer and remember to pick up fishing again.

This is a fantastic, well thought out post. I am 31 and after a decade of serial LTRs, I have decided that I am done with them. I am now often experiencing the same thoughts, and in weak moments I consider major life decisions around a girl before snapping myself out of it and coming to my senses.

The reasons I will be LTR-less for the foreseeable future are along the same lines as yours, namely: - Ultimate freedom: we live in unprecedented times for easy international travel and not having anyone tie you down can make for an incredible life experience. - Motivation (as you mentioned). Without a LTR, I am more productive and efficient at work, and I absolutely kill it in the gym. Comfort is nice, but I prefer to push myself and sacrifice comfort. - LTRs are always a net negative to my life. I have been in LTRs with intelligent, fit, motivated women, but the relationship always ends up being a massive net negative for me. The only pro is consistent sex, but the cons are numerous. No matter how high quality the girl is, it is in their nature to require a constant need for emotional support. I have found that the better life I give a LTR, the more her little problems matter to her because everything is taken care of. With TRP, I will not fall into this trap again.

Being single gives me more time to think about my career, my fitness, my knowledge about the world and womankind. I learn that self validation is way more important than validation of others, especially chicks

My main problem so far is that I can't seem to score dates on tinder or okc. Maybe its because I havent cleaned up my profile post RP.

TRP provided a huge facet of clarity in regards to events like these, and thinking back now, i don't feel as bad.

like you said, every now and again, you might get to thinking that it'd be nice to settle down, might start to make heavy sacrifices to keep a girl around, but for what? validation? keeping up appearances?

As an eternal bachelor, you can use your free time that would otherwise be consumed by a LTR to become great at something. Pick a hobby and work at it to become the best you can be, be it writing, cooking, bodybuilding, martial arts, playing an instrument, etc. Creative outlets bring fulfillment like a relationship would. Make your creative outlet(s) and your goals your relationship.

This is great and really motivating. Right now I'm trying to get over the idea that pain is bad, and instead accept that it's a necessary part of growth. It's funny how many areas of life that truth is applicable to. It's better to man up and walk your solitary path and deal with some dark thoughts along the way than to give up your power for the comforts of a LTR. The difference between being a child and a man.

I saw an article somewhere else on reddit about Conor McGregor's girlfriend. They've been together for more than 8 years, before anyone ever knew who he was. Even when he wasn't shit and was on the Irish version of unemployment she stayed with him and supported him and drove him to training and believed in him. Now he says it fills him with pride to support her and have her quit her job and travel with him.

Sometimes I worry that I might never realize my full potential or achieve greatness because I'll never never be loved like that.

I fucking love this post. You and I think the same way. I just did a pussy ass thing though I broke up with my bitch last week and literally just texted that I'll be in town tomorrow so she can try to make it work or have a good life. I haven't said shit to her before this but part of me already knows she probably slutted it up and I should stick to single life. It's hard as fuck because I just moved to a new town (not far from my hometown but still) so I know no one and I'm not near any nightlife and I'm not feeling super great. This post gives me hope but still I hate not getting pussy everyday.

you seem like you really have it figured out. However I have only been a red piller for less than a year or so. Although this sub has great advice, its missing the piece it needs. How do you get your first plate. I have yet to find a single place that actually helps with this. All the advice I have gotten so far is "just don't give a fuck", "be attractive", "next a girl if she isn't good enough". The Red Pill sub is like telling millionaires how to invest their money, asktrp is mostly guys asking how to make their first dollar. If you could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it because despite the work I have been putting in I have had no success with women despite making hundreds of attempts.

Having an LTR can suck... But living with a traditional LTR is a gift that keeps on giving. Laundry washed and folded, food cooked and prepped for the next day, and split expenses. I have paid off student loans faster by being in an LTR vs single.

At first, I misread this as never told a girl what to do with her life when she asked for advice. Another advantage of not being in a long-term relationship. It might make you feel dominant to decide for her, but it's a trap. If she fails, she'll blame you forever.
