When you show interest, follow it up with showing disinterest.

I think this is really another way of expressing the idea that showing interest is fine, but the girl shouldn't be the center of your existence.

This is the downfall of white knights and nice guys; they show lack of self-respect by being willing to let others walk all over them.

However, the idea that this is remedied by showing disinterest, is kind of like a makeshift, inadequate solution. In a pinch, it has two effects that almost seem good.

Showing disinterest as a manipulative tactic, can draw in girls who are into manipulation and games.
Showing disinterest can come off as if you simply have more things in life that you value and prioritize and you're not just putting some random person at the top of your list when you meet her.

It's not about simply ignoring or showing disinterest because you showed interest. It's about the fact that you shouldn't be bumping someone you just met to the top of your priority list. There should be other things going on in your life besides a girl.

So many posts lately by guys basically asking how they can "show" their intentions by "telling."

Of course, they can't really replace showing with telling.

Remain indifferent

I think this is another way of saying, "one's center shouldn't be something that is fragile and affected by every little thing or person."

That said, closing yourself off from the idea that people affect you and events affect you, is foolhardy and problematic. Things will affect you and trying to tell oneself that they don't, is only going to make matters potentially worse, by driving emotions underground where they're more intense and damaging.

We should all try to have a core within ourselves that we support and sustain through self-validation. But we also gain strength from having good friends because humans are social creatures; no man is an island.

Strength is good but trying to be an island is unhealthy. Balance.

Direct is fast sorting, indirect is about quality catching. Really, its a small part of the conversation.

Indirect is superior because it plays to what most prefer, things just " happening". " he was just looking for directions and we just " happen" to hit it off, " we went to his house to eat and " one thing lead to another".

Approach a target which seems out of your league once in a while and run your routine on her. This gives a lot of exposure in terms of experimenting. Calculate what you can add or replace in the routine.

Stop overthinking this shit. Just becomes better you, be a better communicator, and go for attractive women that have similar interests.

Also, you really don’t have to show disinterest when you show interest. Making that a hard rule is going to mess you up. Sometimes push-pull is good, but every girl is different, and it’s important to read the situation and the girl. Genuine compliments can be a very good thing, as long as they’re truly genuine and not about something that she gets complimented on 50 times a day.

I'd hate to think that this stuff is draconian and based on genes, whereas some men MUST lose every time because of quirks like autism (not what I asked for, but life chose it for me) and that many men are expendable, and so on.
