New York City first-date:

We were gonna row a rowboat on the lake in Central Park together, but I was early and she was late..... So I was almost at the front of the boat-rental line when she texted "out of subway, where meet?"

I had her go to the other side of the lake where the fountain is, and then the actual meeting was me rowing up to her in a little boat and saying "Get in!"

It was probably the best first date I ever put together

Jesus, I so blew that date later and probably screwed up gettting laid.... But that first part, man it was great.

Things that have all worked awesomely for me:

giant board games (jenga, connect 4 etc), ice skating, bike riding, indoor rock climbing, arcade (especially the non video game based ones like air hockey), playing pool at a bar. I even went on one of those 5K 'colour runs' (basically a fun run where they throw coloured dye at you) with a chick, which can be a lot of fun, as long as she's semi - fit. One time, me and a girl met in the city and got a hot chocolate from Starbucks, then got a few shot sized bottles of Baileys to add to them, and walked around the city just people watching.

And I'm not sure if this counts as an "active" date, but if you're the least bit creative/artistic, take her to a local exhibition on opening night. You get to see how each other thinks and feels when exposed to new artworks, and she gets to feel sophisticated. Win win.

Last weekend I did a cryptic escspe room with my date. It's pretty much a real life escspe the room game. I wouldn't say it's a good first date but if she's the kind of person that would appreciate the skill involved in solving puzzles, the mutual sense of accomplishment at the end is amazing. Not that it's super active but you definitely get the blood pumping trying to rush around before the time runs out.

Also check out Groupon for ideas. I did a paint lounge thing with a girl. Really fun way to fool around, get some paint on each other and actually have fun doing it. Cool experience!

It doesn't really matter where. No matter where you are it will be okay. Your attitude can make everything great.

Standard for me is bar or music event. Usually somewhere I've been meaning to go.

Depending on my schedule, inviting to errands in your everyday life is interesting. For example:

"I need to buy a new suit. Come help!".

"I'm taking photos at a friends event. Do you know how to...".

I just discovered that a local dog shelter accepts volunteers for taking their dogs on walks. It seems like a great date idea, I didn't try it yet, but it has all the elements of a good date: walking, nature and cute animals.

Try an improv class. Dancing lessons. Couples cooking. Not sure what state you're in otherwise I'd have a few more things.
