Requiring compliance is a good thing. Showing her your card is a good thing. Best of both worlds. And, you are correct, girls almost never contact a guy. Giving out your number is futile.

As a girl I tell you, I'd never call somebody that gives me his card. I would have the impression that he gives out cards to any random girl. It's easy, and lacks merit. And it's also arrogant.

I have a mix of cards I keep with me/close by:

Regular Card
Clothing Company Business Card: Owner (legit, not a creepy scam)
Joke card: (My Name), Business Card Owner, Phone Number
Joke card: Front - "My Penis Is Gigantic" Back - "P.S. Lets Fuck"

The joke ones are for fun mostly, you need the right type of person for 3 and definitely the right type for 4.

What are you hitting on your clients? Business cards are for BUSINESS. It looks very try hard in the wrong context. If I saw a guy do this in a bar and leave, I would approach the same girl right away to joke about it.

My go-to is the hand over the phone to write the number in. Then I give out the text 3 days later because it is true that girls do not reach out first. I think the card game is extremely played out.

Personally not a big fan but I gave 2 away because I didn't had much alternative and it worked once. So I guess 50% but that can be totally biased as it's not a big sample. But yea the girl did reach out and I didn't even asked for her number. Just threw the card her way and left the bar with friends for some delicious fast food.

Putting the initiative on her to call is almost never a good idea. However, if you've got a hard hook to the point that you know she's really into you, you can hand a business card to her. Then you get extra points for giving less of a shit and getting her anyway!

I have twice gotten into either fuck buddy relationship or real relationship just following this principle. My current girlfriend emailed me from my card only because she thought it would be rude not to.

I think there's a strategy to giving out a card.

99% of the time you shouldn't. It reeks of pretentiousness and desperation. If you have a sweet job, or you designed it yourself, there might be a way to use it.

I think if you go to get her number, you set an interesting tone if you choose to write it down rather than plugging it into your phone. It adds to your overall mystique and intrigue.

"Why is he not just typing it into his phone?"

"If he loses the card, he'll never call"

So, if you carry business cards on you, just pull one out, flip it over, write her number and pop it back into your pocket. At this point she'll probably ask "Is that your business card?"

You say "yes, but they're for special clients only" or some flirty/teasing dismissal. Eventually after some teasing, you relent, and then get a bonus kino opportunity as you hand it off to her, talk about your job/company, whatever.

However, most jobs are boring, and talking about your job is a huge turnoff. Plus she has your contact information for business. I just don't see business cards working unless you're in a very specific situation.

I have written a lot about cards. I used to design a lot of cards for people, and I favor the old, simple styles of engraved lettering and not much else. I like the old traditions of "calling cards" from the Victorian era. Those cards are very simple, usually only a name, and there were extensive protocols about using them, like you'd bend a specific corner to give a certain message. You can look that stuff up on your own.

I use two types of cards, a plain, simple card with just my name on it and a phone number. Then I have a foldover card, it's double height and folded in the middle, like a horizontal format greeting card in miniature. This allows you to write a message in it. But I like to use it as an "engagement device." You pull out the card and rip it in half, give both halves to the other person, and say "write your number on this half." It tends to work well, since they saw you "use up" a card on them.

Try to get nice printing on nice paper. Do not use inkjet printing, or any full color printing, full color always looks bad because it's lower rez than just black printing. B&W laser printing will do in a pinch, but don't get those "laser perf" precut card sheets, the edges are ragged and unattractive. Print them on 100% rag art paper and cut them out with an X-Acto knife. That's what I do. It would be best to get engraved printing which results in raised lettering, but it's expensive. Letterpress would also be really good. You know, I have a letterpress but I never set it up. I always wanted to print my own cards. I read a story from a graphic designer who printed his own letterpress cards. He did two colors (twice as much work) and printed details in gold ink. He was really proud of them. The first time he handed one to a client, they handed it right back. He didn't know what was going on, so he gave it back to them. The client was confused, he said the cards were so nice, he thought it was a design sample, they were too good to give away as cards. He laughed and said he printed them himself, please keep it. Now that is the kind of impression you want a card to make. But he decided the cards were a little too impressive, so he toned it down a bit. LOL.

It's not only good looking girls that will rarely initiate -- it's mostly all girls :p (though good looking ones moreso). So this strikes me as a bad idea, it should be you initiating the texts, and if you can't number-close then it's also unlikely that the girl has enough attraction to text you even though she would have your number from your card.

Depends how you do it. You can do the bus card split, where you tear half and write your number and give her the pen and the other half. They are also great if you legitimately have to run and give them out. One of my laziest successful pickups was telling a bartender to give it to a girl (along with a glass of champaign) as I walked out to go to a date.

It's never worked for me with someone i've just met. I did have a girl one of my classes and on the last day I pulled out my card wrote my cell number on it and told her we should hang out in the summer. She texted me a few days after. I don't think the card was the deal maker but rather just talking to her up to that moment of giving her my information.

I'll pretend my phone is dead, and give her a pen and my business card and have her write her number on the back; it's sturdy, I keep a bunch in my wallet, the motion/request is natural and doesn't seem forced, and it's a subtle DHV ("my business card"). Sometimes she asks for one, so if I don't mind her having my number, I'll give it out.

Just make sure when you hand it out, give it to her backside up so it doesn't look like you are bragging; it's her curiosity for her to turn it over.

I think that handing out a card shows that you are a dbag who expects to win a girl by your position, whether she knows it or not. Chances are that she will enter her number or vice versa on your phone. If you want a girl that really likes you, don't mention your job or status. If you want someone that is going to like you up until the momemnt you get laid off from JP Morgan, than by all means make em' rain!

I learned this from a guy in sales. You should have 2 cards, one with puppies on it, one with a made up family, that way if they don't like families, then you can give them one with puppies. Who doesn't like puppies!?

It really depends on the situation. If you're in a business type setting, giving a card signals her to give you one as well. You can edge it up a little by saying here's my cell number also -- let's meet up for drinks later.

I haven't done this yet, but I'm considering going to one of those sites that gives you free business cards, and making one just for pickup purposes. Anyone do this?
