And that weapon is swing dance lessons. :D

About a month ago I checked out some cheap swing dancing lessons in my area and have experienced a lot change in me with regards to AA, confidence, kino, leading and being assertive.

Confidence

You are going to suck when you start and quickly learn to be confident and comfortable failing, stepping and bumping all over people and moving your body. After a while you just don't care and feel comfortable in your own skin.

Partners have noticed that I no longer have a look of panic in my eyes trying something new or challenging. I just try and fail without losing my frame.

Kino

You're going to be touching a women the entire time and spend a lot of time staring into each others eyes inches away from her face. You are constantly in the "pre-kiss" position. ;) Back and hand contact is mandatory.

My kino was poor before because I felt uncomfortable touching women. After the 30th dance partner touching women is just a natural piece of my behavior now.

Leading and being Assertive

Swing, like all couple dances, revolves around the men leading their partner around. You make subtle body cues, literally pushing and pulling to get your partner to go where you want. You are the leader, literally, nothing happens without you indicating it happens.

AA

During the practice and "free dance" sessions you must go up to a women, introduce yourself and ask to dance. There is no other option besides standing around looking like a fool. And you know what? These ratio of women to men makes it so they are literally begging you to come over and dance with them.

Bonuses

  • The ratio of these classes and groups is about 2/1 women to men and half the guys are gay.

  • Women LOVE when I talk about swing dancing and show them pictures and videos of myself. Its like farting diamonds. A weak hook or set becomes strong instantaneously. Day 2s become easy because you have something awesome to take them too. Half my # closes are done in the middle of an interaction now about taking them to a lesson.

  • My posture and body language has become better, taller and more upright. Strengthened lots of little core helper muscles I think. I feel more "framed"

  • Dancers have great bodies.

Give it a try, swing dancing is a major hobby of mine now and I'm having tons of fun doing it.

Edit - Added some more color.
