Yup. Average is nothing. It's ternary and not binary.

below average = sexually repulsive
average = nothing
above average = sexually attractive

The problem is that binary thinkers can't understand this. They understand this much

below average = sexually repulsive
above average = sexually attractive

But then they have to flip a coin to assign "average" to the binary:

I’ll bite. I strongly agree with your assessment of many micro SMPs being more relevant than some overall SMP. I think there are various overlaps here tbh.

I would say that an average guy, like 5/10 of any samples of random men, would have little to no SMV. They are very unlikely to get laid outside of an LTR which is increasingly hard to get as society gets more atomized and more men are left out of the micro SMP/RMP they’d be able to get an LTR from.

They think everything is a science lab, like when I talk about anecdotes and I’m talking about it in the informal lay sense of personal stories, they are always thinking of it in a clinical experimental setting as Anecdotal Evidence and completely lose all context. I’m assuming something similar is happening with a disconnect between the meaning of Average Joe and “statistically average in every variable” and reading the former as the latter. Some form of Scientism.

I think the main issue is that they conflate ideas which lead to a confusion on what 'average' is. Rating/10 is too subjective and there is no agreed upon convention. The most common assumption I see is that the rating score would follow a normal distribution, therefore mean is the average. So people just try to fit their samples into this bell-curve. Instead of individually assess each person against some standard and then derive a map of the SMP. Because the average person could be a 3 if the score is given according to some criteria.

It is an quasi-incel/Incel discussion topic. The idea is that if the "average" man is not attractive, then it proves to the incels/Incels that unless you are within the [choose your percentage point of men] you are fighting for scraps. Then eventually if we do not do anything about this, all of the left-over men from the remaining percentage will all go MTGOW or destabilize society etc. And if we do turn back time it will only get worse.

It would not surprise me if a literal incel/Incel posted topic you linked to, considering this topic is just quasi-incel topic. The statistics do not really matter, people will use a quick google search to find statistics to back up their argument, you can find statistics that trend towards almost anything if you look hard enough. Let's go with median over average and by definition half the people are below, half above.

If the median isn't attractive then youre assuming you're better than that half which isn't the case for at least half of women assuming sexual exclusivity in LTR.

The traits I find attractive? Not obese or a bitch which is a reasonable expectation. Expecting an above average boyfriend is unreasonable for the average women.

Because in most facets of life, if you are average at something, you are doing okay, or at the very least getting something. So when an average guy isnt getting shit he starts wondering what is wrong.

They also think about average in terms of performance. So they figure since they are an average guy, they should be getting around average performance. The problem with this is most men are inflating their success, so the guy takes the average of what he hears and wonders wtf is going on.

I would have to say this is definitley a blue pilled thought, at least in the way it is a viewpoint stemming from an unexamined experience.

Even this guy is probably above average. When half the population is in debt, a third have a mental illness, most are obese, etc. finding someone plain with zero issues is not the norm.

I have seen people mistake "average" with someone who has zero attractive traits, when in reality most people have something about them that's attractive and some things that are not. One guy is chubby but funny, another is awkward but cute in the face, and someone else is short but fit and assertive. People without any redeeming qualities are a minority and not average at all.

I mean, when it comes to common people, they do vary between average and slightly above average. And then I assume when a woman talks abut a specific guy she finds attractive, then he's above average (at least in her eyes).

I think perhaps people on the sub mistake 'common' for trying to find the statistical average of everything, which doesn't make someone attractive necessarily. Though for some things it does make sense, like a lot of men are 5'8 or 5'9 in the UK (I see them commonly and there's many men of that height range who do fine with finding gfs/wives or whatever) - I think that's one case where the average fits the common.

But their big mistake with that is assuming that they are attractive enough because they fit the average. Like no, every guy has to bring a charming point to the table to be considered special by someone.

The average person will be in several categories anything but average, in either the up or down directions. Someone who was average across the board would be perceived as someone trying to act as human rather than being human.
