OP is an avid weight lifter and runner and he got an approach invitation from a woman who ended up giving him her number and yet she didn't respond when he hit her up.

You guys remember this the next time someone wants to come here and claim that looks are so damn important.

Also remember that getting numbers is easy. The hard part, as OP directly experienced, is getting someone to like you so much they respond when you hit them up.

So stop overweighing the significance of someone getting a number and don't look to guys who can do that as references of what is attractive. All those "looksmaxxing" streamers who "rizz up" girls and get their numbers are never seeing 95% of those girls again.

Do not wait to text. Text the SAME DAY. Waiting 2 days has NEVER worked, but its even worse today because women are filtering out low-effort guys because almost every guy is low effort nowadays.
If shes doing most of the talking, that's good that she's investing but bad because she's leading and youre not.
Dont just ask for a number. Invite her to something and THEN get her number once you have plans.
Focus on getting better, not getting women to like you. Your breakdown highlighted what happened and the result (or lack of result) but didnt cover what you were working on, what you want to improve on, or what mistakes you made. As a result, you arent focused on getting better. It's like focusing on whether the guys in the gym are impressed with your lifts vs focusing on getting stronger.

You have to follow up the same day when you have a quick interaction (< 15 minutes). Keep it short.

If you had a longer interaction (> 30 minutes) and you built up some attraction and early markers (her giving kino, etc.), then you can probably wait a full day. 2 days is too long.

Attraction is a spectrum. It's entirely possible she had a mild interest in you but it wasn't strong enough for her to actually follow up on it once it required deliberate effort. That's how it is sometimes, it's less to do with the timing as two days is totally reasonable, you more than likely just didn't hit a certain threshold.

2 days later is wild, your odds plummeted even if she was initially interested. With people on their phones all the time, texting two days later makes her think she’s an afterthought. And in most cases, assume you weren’t memorable enough to be remembered after a couple days.
