Omfg sis, preach. When I was doing my undergrad (in the heavy sciences), I couldn't get a second to think around my ex. He'd guilt me whenever I tried to study. Eventually, I'd wait until he went to bed, pretend to go to sleep, and then wake up and read from like 10 PM - 3 AM. He was unconscious the entire time, but eventually he found out about it (saw me while getting a midnight snack once) & lost his shit. I was destroying my health just so I had a chance to keep up with my education while wi…

It shouldn't be an unpopular comment; you're literally just stating facts 😂 I haven't read that book but have a few degrees in the behavioural sciences & this type of thing is pretty well-known based on the data. While it's true that a lot of these male-dominated towns tend to also be known for having that overt misogyny/incel bullshit floating around (think oil towns), this is sort of a by-product of that subset of truly bottom-of-the-barrel men that definitely shouldn't be reproducing getting …

Yesssss sis so proud of you!!! 🥳👏👏 That's definitely no small feat - women are socialised to tolerate that indefinitely, and so many of us do. This dude is gunna shocked Pikachu face all the way into the next decade lmaoooo 😂 I've been there. It's still crazy to me that you could tell them exactly what you need and it'll still be like pulling teeth for what could turn into literal years. Like damn, with an IQ that low I don't think these dudes should be allowed to interact with women at all, let…

I actually moved from Canada to the UK sis! It's tough because yes, all of these places have so many of these problems for women. Have you listened to the FDS podcast? Savannah's descriptions of British men are SPOT ON 😅 so there'll be that 😂 Honestly the one thing men everywhere do consistently is disappoint us. You can look up gender pay gaps/gaps in unpaid labour by country; there have been some studies done on both. There's no perfect place but the research would be a good way to start makin…

Oh 10000% 👏👏 Another mindset shift for me was the revelation that shitty men are replaceable. Like sure, if you find a really good one, of course you'll want to hold onto him. But if he's acting up then he's not a good one, and there are 100 more like him in every neighbourhood, so you're not really losing anything unique or valuable when you chuck him into the trash 😂 Like sorry, I don't make the rules hahaha. Act right or bye 💅💃

As an aside, a particularly hilarious way this played out for me one was on a road trip with an LVM I had been dating for several months. He decided he wanted to bring up polyamory in the car (idiot), so I pulled into a gas station, asked him to go get a coffee, and said I'd fill up. He went in & I drove away. Never spoke to him again. I'm sure the guy's fine, but this was a small town in the Canadian rockies (literally the only thing around was the gas station) & a good couple-hundred kilometre…

I just think it's so rad that FDS (Lilith) invented a whole-ass new feminist ideology. 💅 The first (and only) to prioritize max female benefit above all else - sad that so many others (eg libfem) missed the mark. I lean more towards being a radfem, but felt ideologically homeless all my life - until I read her article. FDS is such a godsend.

It took me a few years to really get over an ex. It was really traumatic for me; I'd thought everything was fine and then found out he was cheating while I was pregnant. Ended up getting an abortion & moving abroad to do a doctorate, but it all nearly broke me. Then one day I was just walking down the street and realized how much of a loser he was. Like, it just hit me 😂 You'll be fine angel, just focus on yourself ❤

Hoooooly I've never seen it written that way but you really just made it all click for me. I've seen this pattern before, and I'm willing to bet many of us can recognize it (having to walk on eggshells around a PickMe who habitually lets men walk all over her). I had one of those in my life and noticed the girl weaponized therapy language like you wouldn't believe. One time, I had a guy (who lived with his mom & worked in a dildo factory) tell me that he "was actually smarter than me", because not going to university meant he didn't have any "dept" (yeah, genius just misspelled "debt", fucking moron). Do any other ladies here refuse to kiss during the few first dates? I fucking HATE that it's become so normalised and honestly firmly believe that any man who really likes you will probably be too cautious to try. It's a boundary I've had to put down again and again and again...

Yeah, I'm right here with you. My empathy runs out as soon as other women start forcing dangerous LVM into my life by proxy. I have some lovely friends that just need a small nudge in the right direction, and those I will gladly help. Young women just figuring it out? Sure. Maybe you're new to dating and don't see red flags? I've got you. But this whole "omg my boyfriend cheated for the 87th time BUT I SWEAR he loves mEeeeeE?!!!!!!!!1" No. I think people really underestimate the abuse you can be…

Sis, I totally understand what you're asking & how hopeless it can feel sometimes. I have a lovely HV father, so that's usually who I think of first, but otherwise I do have a strategy that I think works for this, and it involves just keeping a few good ones around, in your circle, to keep the hope alive. It's a slippery slope to be "friendly" with men, so of course this strategy comes with some caveats. Besides the pussy vultures you also have to watch out for emotional labour vampires, don't k…

Yeah, some PickMe's out there are WILD. I know one that hides her polyamorous leanings from partners for as long as possible & then blasts them with DARVO when finally confronted (friend of some coworkers, not in my circle 😅). I'm very wary of men in general, but there are honestly LV people of both genders out there - and a lot of them, too. I think HV people tend to hang out with other HV people, so as women we sometimes just think of our girlfriends & assume that's the status quo, but it can …

Aww hun, your post hit me so hard; it honestly felt like reading something my past self wrote ❤ I think the feeling you're describing is very very common to people (especially women) in higher education - i.e., grad school and beyond. I felt like that for years - even though when I was in grad school, I was getting paid quite well (much better than most people working "real" jobs)... but society tells us nonstop, from the moment we're able to listen, that our value lies in checking off certain b…

Don't interact with him. He's looking to corner you. You'll end up traumatised if you entertain this dude. We don't share that we're on FDS for a reason. It's not safe - just ask any mod, they get death threats regularly. It's not safe in general, and even more dangerous when it comes to sharing with men on reddit (who tend to be particularly unfortunately placed on the spectrum of "low value"). Edit: Another thing is, just in general, if a man doesn't "get it", you drop him. HVM don't need to h…

Oh totally! The time in my life when I most felt the urge to second-guess myself was a couple years into my PhD... not only was I really starting to get an honest idea of what I (and also all of us!) don't know, but trying to push forward and create new knowledge anyway was honestly one of the most intimidating things I'd ever tried to do. Eventually you reach a point where you realize that while you still don't know everything, you know enough and can speak with some amount of self-assuredness.…

I literally am talked over and condescended to so much more often than not about my area of expertise (health/research), and it's almost always by some moron who barely passed high school. I've got a PhD and am a doctor. I genuinely don't know where this blind unearned confidence comes from, but I'm at the point in my life where if I see this kind of thing I just assume the person's stupid. I've yet to be wrong.

I wish I'd vetted more thoroughly. I've got a roommate who's brought more guys into out flat than you'd see at a porn set. An LV, airhead, narcissistic type that thrives off the attention and doesn't care that our doors don't even have locks and this behaviour is compromising my safety. Yeah I'm convinced more men than we'd care to admit have something wrong with them, but it literally doesn't matter. I used to put so much work into working around their social stupidity until I acknowledged it's genuinely just not my fucking problem... and furthermore, a lot of straight-up abusive men could probably be described as having some mental illness/personality disorder, and while that can be difficult, it's possible to still make the conscious effort to treat those around you well. I sympathise with you to the extent that you didn't know what was happening the first time around. That was not your fault, and you were right to come here. However, I do urge you to take some accountability for continuing to participate in this clownshow afterwards. Sis, I really encourage you to be careful here... you say hook-up culture doesn't really benefit women, but you are participating in it. Multi-dating is great, but this may affect you in ways you don't yet anticipate - if only concerning your health. Please do get tested, and ideally don't sleep with a man "casually" as this sort of relationship dynamic heightens the chances of you catching something. My ex decided to cheat with the town harlot - I'm talking a real cluster B PickMe-type. Absolute psychopath. He had his little affair, and I left as soon as I found out. Ghosted him after half a decade together - but we had mutual friends, so I know that after that little love affair imploded (i.e., he let her know it was casual on his end), she chose to email his boss with accusations of drug use. Aw sis I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this. Honestly, PickMe's make horrendous brides, and going to their weddings is usually a nightmare. When I was 21, I had one try to guilt me into failing a class (missing a final) AND dropping $750 on a flight to some random town in the Midwest for her wedding. I was an undergrad working three jobs & that was about twice my savings at the time. Plus, the wedding was on Valentine's Day, so no one in the room would be able to actually spend it with…

There are some really deep-seated issues here stemming from a very traumatic childhood, and it's sad but being around was very much not worth the parade of LVM orbiters & the accusations of being "close-minded". However, I'm happy to say I do have another close friend who was manipulated into a "cAsUaL" situationship when we met (nearly a year ago), and has since done a complete 180. My heart really goes out to her. A situation like this is what brought me here. It's assault. Lying to have sex... taking away your right to informed consent like that is assault. My brief stint on OLD was enough to straight-up radicalize me. I will never let a man touch me without months of vetting withing the context of a public, committed relationship again. I'm sure there might be a few HVW sprinkled throughout, but overall no, sorry, I don't think they're high value (from what I've seen, anyway). Some other commenters in this thread have mentioned a few good reasons, but the "forced" (or at least heavily encouraged) involvement with fraternities might be the biggest reason for me. I upvoted you sis, I see what you're saying, but a large part of why I don't engage in casual sex is because I truly, with my entire chest, don't think the vast majority of men deserve to touch me... and as happy (or unhappy) as the types of women we're talking about are, we differ in that regard. I've had one (thankfully brief) casual relationship in the past, and I snapped out of it the second I realized I deserved better. Honey, no. Any 34-year old man wanting to date a woman in her 20's is a loser. Women his age don't want him, for good reason. Don't fall for it. Cut him off & read the handbook. We don't need that. Look, if they're lived in this society for however many decades and this shit is pointed out to them and they still don't fucking get it, they don't belong here. If they put other women down to lift themselves up, or put us in danger for a crumb of attention from some scrote, they don't belong h…

Haha thank you!! I'm in medicine, so basically it's just an undergrad and med school, with a couple research degrees in the middle (but they were basically like jobs... Oh hey, I do this too! I also don't wear makeup, but have replaced that with a couple rounds of permanent makeup (eyeliner and eyebrows). It's the closest thing I could find to an effortless way to exist in our society while not being judged and belittled and put down for going to work or whatever bare-faced. I resent it because it does cost me to the tune of $1000/year, which I guess we can just tack onto all the other shitty ways it's more expensive (considering both time and money) to be a wo…

This is why the patriarchy hates when we "gossip" - because historically, it was the only way to protect ourselves against shitty men. Literally life-or-death, the only move we had as a sex class. Historically (and now), gossiping has been villainized, belittled, and women are shamed for talking to each other. Ladies, don't fall for it. Gossiping about shitty men saves lives. I'm only in my late twenties, but I honestly agree with this. I remember being younger (<22) and so much more naïve, dating my ex and fantasizing about marriage. As I grew older, my career blossomed, and my finances thrived, I honestly became less and less interested in marriage, because quite frankly I know in my gut that it's a stupid decision. I'm not sure whether I want kids, but I do know that if I have one, I'd need someone to stay home anyways - and I'm likely to get more bang for my buck…

I'm definitely angry at him, for her, but honestly I share your feelings here. This type of thing is a huge reason for why married/partnered men can get so far ahead of the rest of us: they've got women at home willfully acting as domestic slaves. I'm the same. To be fair though, I often (and I suspect you do too) have the opportunity to settle down with a man, but it's just never someone that meets my standards or that I'm attracted to. I think its unfortunate, but a lot of women settle hard, and if you really look around yourself, I doubt you'd be willing to trade places with them. You can keep your standards high and still have a family even, if that's what you want. You can do anything without a man, until someone worth keeping around…

And from my experiences, sororities are full of enabling Pickmes. I had a new Pickme roommate defend Greek life - at the same time, my old university shut down both the sororities and fraternities because they refused to support the racism, sexism, and classism promoted by these societies. Nonsense.

Thank you! A while ago I'd commented on someone's post; she was getting breadcrumbed by someone who, when called out, said his relative and/or friend had just died. I suggested someone in that situation was not in the headspace for dating (and if it was someone she'd "met" on OLD, this may not have even happened, but could instead be used as an excuse by men hoping to elicit empathy to enable/rationalize poor behaviour... either way, I just thought this whole situation was not it). I got my shit…

I have gotten sass for this before (even here on FDS), but I will die on this hill: if a man is treating you poorly in the initial stages of dating and rationalizes it based on some tumultuous struggle/upheaval in his personal life, he is not in a place to be dating right now. Close friend having a crisis? Maybe focus on that (and give Hinge a break). Family member just died/is very ill? You may not be in the best headspace to be meeting new women for dinner. I'm sorry you went through that - I totally understand how you would've been cornered into responding; it takes a lot to see something clearly in the moment & that level of clarity can really be muddled when you've got some scrote triangulating you with a pickme. Rest assured that with time it'll get easier - easier to walk out of dates, block, delete, disappear, & grey rock. I met one of these types recently and was literally immediately uncomfortable. It's a hot take, and I wouldn't repeat it anywhere else, but I think most of these "player" types are just rapists. They're not the types that hang out in alleys and assault strangers, but they're almost worse, because we know most assaults are committed via the tactics they use: manipulation, coercion, whittling down women's self-esteem, ostracising her if she says no, linking their sexual gratification to any power …

I've been there too, sis. Two years ago, right before I found FDS, I tried OLD for the first (and last) time. This happened twice, and I'd say both times it was assault. They knew what they were doing, coerced me into sex, and removed my ability to give informed consent. You are not alone, and you did nothing wrong - just behaved in what was likely a normal way, expecting the men around you to behave with some (any) respect for women as human beings, and showed some vulnerability and trust in a …

Yeah, maybe! Yeah, this exactly. A WOC dating a white man needs to be wary of fetishization, but similarly a white (or any other) woman dating men of a different culture also needs to be wary of misogyny - not saying there aren't (a very small proportion) of HVM in every culture, but for example an Indian man (sorry, but basing this on my experiences) would have had to put a great, great deal more effort into rising above certain cultural anti-woman problems than most to be HV. Low-value losers need to "feel needed", and by that I mean they feel threatened by a successful, independent woman, because a successful, independent woman has the power to leave. They need to feel powerful, and the best way to do that is to keep women down. Women with graduate degrees & high-paying jobs are more likely to be single. I mean, this guy's solution is government-mandated girlfriends ("eNfOrcEd mOnOgAmy"), so let's not pollute this space with the patron saint of incels. Jordan Peterson has made a career out of taking obvious truths, throwing them into a word salad, and using that as a vessel to promote extremely problematic ideas. Even the fact that he got a job as a professor was a complete fluke; the guy that vouched for him came to regret it dearly. I'm not trashing you OP, we all hate hook-up culture here at …

I also work in a hospital, although as a biomedical scientist. Thank you so much for everything you do, and 100% agree with you here. One thing I really haven't been able to fathom are people who are selfish enough to THROW PARTIES and continue to SLEEP AROUND while this is happening. I just can't believe it. Like, you have to be flamboyantly low value to be pulling that shit. I empathise with people who cracked and saw a family member after months (of longer) of no contact, for example - I unde…

You know, even those of my friends that met very young & didn't take any time to be alone or see what they wanted (out of their partners & their lives more generally) aren't really goals. I know a couple that met when they were 14 and are soon getting married after like 13 (or some ridiculous number) years together, both currently doing postgrads. They don't have a trainwreck of a relationship, have been fairly stable, are both decent people, and I still wouldn't recommend it. They're emotionall…

Yeah, my worst experiences come from PickMe's - you know the type. The "must-always-be-in-a-relationship", desperately-sleeps-around-until-one-sticks, ends-up-with-a-troll women. It makes me want to point out that I wouldn't want their life even if someone paid me, but I usually just ignore it because... well, they're too far-gone for anything I say to make a difference, and karma eventually gets them anyway.

I see your point OP, but one really important thing this sub does for women is highlights just how eerily similar shitty men (and in fact, most men) are. It completely disproves the trope that there's something wrong with you when you encounter this sort of thing because "you're the common denominator in your dating life" (or you didn't cOmMuNiCaTe hard enough, or whatever the fuck responses you'll see on the main relationship subs when a woman encounters any version of scrotery), and puts the b…

I've met thousands of men, and among those, two HVM. One has a 6-figure job managing hundreds of people, and the other has a blue collar job in the trades. Honestly, the tradesperson is such a kind-hearted, positive, lovely, giving, selfless man. Genuinely the single best person I know, and honest-to-God I don't know how he managed to turn out the way he did given the society we live in. That being said, our standards are our standards. FACTS. Absolutely hands-down my favourite post so far. Money is what gives you the freedom to choose who you let into your life. Money (that isn't dependent on your relationship with toxic people) buys you the ability to cut people off - to choose to surround yourself with high-value people. Money lets you enter and stay in a relationship on your own terms... and leave on your own terms as well. "Money can't buy happiness" is bullshit. If happiness is an island, money's the bridge to get you the…

Both of my (happily married) parents support this, but my HVM father was the one that really hammered it home when I was growing up. This exactly. Your job as a woman is to stay on the defensive. You show up and have a great time on dates, but all the while you're vetting. The strategies here aren't meant to attract men so much as they're meant to get rid of LVM (although FDS does have some great flirting techniques, the main focus is your safety and quality of life. THAT'S the priority). You look for good behaviour over time, and you don't give scrotes a roadmap into your pants while you're vetting. Shitty men are easily pre…

I've seen two HV marriages in my life. The first involved my parents. My mom met my dad when she was 33 & he was 34. They'd both worked on themselves and lived full, fulfilling lives. When they met, it was no nonsense - he knew right away he wanted to marry her. They had me when they were 40 and 41, and I went through life hearing about my friend's parents fighting/divorcing, with the security of knowing my family was stable. The second was my ex's brother. You know, they never mention the flipside of mUh bIoLoGy: that if a woman settles, it's in her best interests (evolutionarily speaking) to sleep with someone attractive (on the side), so at least she can have some genes worth passing down. What's that, Kevin? You don't want to raise some other man's children? Then put the "mUh bIoLoGy" away. Idiots

I think making another woman live in his "deceased partner's shadow" sounds like a massive red flag. I understand how difficult it is to lose a loved one but making the women in your life deal with the consequences of your grief isn't high value.

You know, I wonder if PickMe's infiltrating male-dominated scenes and then doing the "shitty to other women" behaviours is a thing, because I've totally seen that in outdoors-ey activities, the metal scene (like you're saying), literally anything you'd imagine would have more men... whereas women I've met in more "balanced" places tend to have their heads screwed on right.

I've done so well cutting the bullshit out of my life, but lately have been feeling a bit anxious about the future. I'm 28, getting a PhD, and I think I'd like kids someday - ideally in a marriage with an HVM. I feel like I've got so much to give, but I'm at the point where it's been so long (4 years), I almost can't imagine finding someone. My parents are getting older too, and the thought of them not getting to know their grandchildren makes me tear up. If anyone has anything hopeful to say, I…

I believe you. A few years ago, I WAS you - so proud to have found someone SO GOOD, so smug because I held out for so long... and he still cheated. There were warning signs, but they didn't start showing up until a few months before the end, i.e., several years into the actual relationship - and they coincided with some stressors in his life, so I didn't see the total moral breakdown coming. I felt so stupid, but looking back on who I was, I see a young woman that tried her best with the knowled…
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy23/07/21 02:46 AM
13

Exactly. Both sides exploit women, but do it under a different name. Back when right-wing, "traditional" values were all the rage, men would guilt and shame women into "knowing their place" as domestic slaves, and anything else (making their own money, going to school, bodily autonomy) was unfeminine. Now? The left coerces women into sex work, into accepting violence in their relationships (BDSM & shaming "vanilla"), into being treated like fleshlights, and (if you're lucky) working 40-60 hours …
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy22/07/21 04:04 PM
10

It really is! I find left-wing misogyny can be very insidious too, whereas the garbage on the right is easier to call out. I think the gaslighting women get from the left can be very dangerous, especially for those who are younger or more naive. It's important not to fall into a "left = good/right = bad" dichotomy and instead evaluate information from either side based on its harms/benefits to women overall. Example: 50-50 is often passed off as progressive and modern but we all know the men who…
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/07/21 11:57 PM

Same - slightly right-of-centre, with most of my "conservative" beliefs just being a manifestation of rejecting left-wing misogyny dressed up as feminism. Really, anything that benefits women (and especially marginalised women) tends to set people off. Suggesting men pay for dates is a common one. Suggesting we not sleep with men until they've been heavily vetted is another, despite that being one of the surest routes into poverty for women (think unplanned pregnancies, for example - especially …

Most of my life! When I (briefly) lowered my standards it just attracted a pile of LV scrotes. The one HVM I dated responded really well & prioritised my comfort and boundaries consistently. I honestly think there are worse places for you to have these boundaries. LVM are everywhere, but I suspect this kind of thing is more common in conservative cultures. I'm really glad to hear other FDSers like me; it reminds me I'm not alone 🥰

I do this too - and it's one month of no touching while he's showing consistent, good behaviour and getting to know me as a person. Not one month of bare minimum effort because a scrote hopes if he just waits long enough we'll cave. Drew this boundary for myself & a pickme friend shamed me for it when some guy tried the dreadgame in response, with her logic being that "you've got to move quickly to get the guy". I agree with you, and had a similar life trajectory. My HVM father was a poor immigrant. He gave my mother everything, and then they both gave me everything. It breaks my heart to know how he was treated throughout his life by those that were luckier than him. I've had the same experiences with socioeconomically-privilaged men. There is also a gendered different in how men & women cope with/react to mental health problems. Women tend to internalise blame & seek to help themselves. Oh, 100% sis. I suspect it's just part of the entitlement they're coddled to develop since birth, pretty much. Even smiling at someone in public or politely trying to brush off a guy who's trying to talk to you (out of fear, often) will get you victim-blaimed if they inevitably go off the rails when you turn down their advances. It's so hard because I think we all know women like this, but sometimes nothing you can say will help, you know? The desperation for male validation/need to be with someone is there and it's been socialised into them HARD. Once more: there are HVM and LVM everywhere, and LVM ubiquitous outnumber HVM. Read that again. It's not a feat, it's a statement. Some women prefer not to use OLD, and for those women, getting out in the world and doing activities they love while bettering themselves is a great way to meet new people, some of whom may even be HVM - again, while vetting ruthlessly and using some amount of common sense. I agree with you about liberal men, I've seen this poorly-concealed, gaslight-ey misogyny before. It's definitely something to vet for. Again, the vast majority of men in any setting will be LV, as HVM are rare. While the vast majority of men are LV, it is possible to find HVM, and taking part in activities where you can vet an individual over a long period of time (cutting them off if any red flags are shown - for example, by taking part in said activity with different people) is a great way to…

It's important to note that LVM outnumber HVM in all activities, hence the unequivocal need for continued vetting - further highlighted by some ladies who have had subpar experiences dating people in that circle. I mentioned this in both the original post and several comments; it's also a recurring theme in the handbook. These are great activities, and a great way to meet people & get to know them over a longer period of time. If anyone reading is on the fence but enjoys exercise & spending time…

I've noticed that too; I started reading in 2019 and I just feel like the vibe is different these days... more male separatist and just angry, to the point where you're picked apart if you post anything... encouraging dating (ironic, I know). I'm sorry you've clearly had bad experiences. I'm encouraging women to pursue their interests, and if those may include the outdoors, to try a new activity. Some women have had good experiences meeting people this way, and with appropriate long-term vetting, this time spent enjoyably bettering yourself may even lead to meeting an HVM. It also might not, because LVMs are everywhere, and good men are rare. Don't like it? Don't do it.

I agree! Our power lies in not dating shitty dudes. I personally don't use OLD, and don't go through life actively trying to meet men for the purpose of romance... but I would love to find an HVM some day, so I'm open to that (despite all the human skidmarks out there lmao), and will use FDS to vet anyone that comes along (as well as the friends I make along the way). I do really think that's an FDS-compatible way to do it. Personally, I know I can't handle immersing myself in dating culture any…

Yeah so there's no way this guy doesn't secretly hate her. I was once pulled over on my way home from the lab during my Masters - 3 AM on Thanksgiving weekend. He didn't believe I was working (despite a backpack full of books in the backseat and a scientific poster in the passengers seat) and interrogated me like his life depending on it. He was out for blood. Eventually, he went down the rabbit hole of demanding to know why I had taken one of two routes home from work (the town's university). I…

I turned 20 right at the start of a several-year-long relationship with someone 6 years older. Going back, I wished I'd focused on my career instead (I did, still ended up doing a PhD, but it took a lot longer). If I had any advice to give it would be: the second anyone mistreats you, leave. Don't make excuses, or fall or the sunk costs fallacy. Just leave! Often you'll find the mask doesn't drop until some time has passed... so you'll likely end up spending time vetting some people that turn ou…

Yeah. Hearing about some of these policies that DISPROPORTIONALLY affected women to the point of threatening their lives (at worst) or just plan working them into the ground (at best) over the past year and a half has been sickening. I've been so angry and disillusioned with the people making the rules over the utter lack of any effort whatsoever to mitigate this, all while the (overwhelmingly male) 1% became exponentially richer.

Yeah, I saw this. I'm not going to lie, my sympathy for PickMe's was already running thin, given their aggressive campaign to enable the shitty treatment of all women... ...But this woman's lining up her own karma. She's doing everything she can to end up on a sub about broken mums VERY soon. And then she's going to have a mountain of resentment against all the HVW she knows that ended up either making bank alone or with lovely, HVM.

Same, exactly! "Politically homeless" is the perfect way to describe it - thanks for finding the right words when I couldn't 😅 It just SUCKS because I really did feel "at home" as a left-leaner about 10-15 years ago (living in a conservative place, no less), but I think that shitty people have just gone and twisted all that up into just another way to gaslight us and assert their superiority. I felt the same way! A bit uncomfortable listening to this episode; the same uneasy feeling you get when you see pandering to men in other aspects of life. I have three degrees in the behavioural sciences and taught children (although ~12 year olds), but yeah, I've seen a lot of early-child educators sort of pandering to non-optimal behaviour in young boys. As an aside, I've found I've literally feel afraid of boys as young as 7 due to just how rough they are and how no one seems to do anything …

Yeah, as someone who currently lives in a city full of "woke" condescending, patronising mysoginists, please please please watch out for this. It was literally a cover for straight-up abuse.

FDS is pro-ghosting from the woman's end, for obvious reasons (the reasons you've outlined really well above, OP 🥰). I ghosted my ex of 6 years when I found out he was cheating on me. Straight up disappeared, never responded to him again. I also left a situationship-LVM at a gas station on our way home from a hike (and blocked him promptly thereafter) because he was throwing an emotional tantrum about an argument he had with his mom/taking his misplaced anger out on me, and I decided the status …

The end of any relationship is always so awful, and I can only imagine what you're going through, especially having to live with him (and with the kids)! The feelings you're experiencing are a huge part of the reason why so many women stay with LVM - few people have the strength to follow through and leave. I know what that's like, I'm sure a lot of ladies here do too, and I wish there were some magic words I could say to make those feelings go away, but the only way through it is time and work.…

It can be a bit of a struggle, not going to lie! I'm also in STEM, but luckily found some good ones. I completely understand your point of view! I've actually been thinking about this a lot lately (due to some behaviour I've seen in my own life), but I think most of the contempt for Pickme's on here comes from their tendancy to lower the bar for (best case scenario) or actively sabotage/be complicit in abusing other women. This is lovely to read, thank you 🥰 It's just anecdotal, but my mom met my lovely HVM dad at 33, roughly 35 years ago. They both knew what they wanted and he proposed two weeks later. I'm 27 and I only know of one couple whose relationship I'd be content in. She met him at 36 and he was 31. They got married within a year. (As an aside, he was hotter at 31 than most guys are in their early 20's.)

Oh my god, stop doing this to yourself. If he wants you, he'll make sure you know. That's not what's happening here, so STOP letting him touch you. Stop letting him use you for emotional support. Stop giving him fucking girlfriend/wife benefits without the commitment. Please, please kill that spark of hope you have if it's hidden in the depths of a "grey area" that's actually just a guy using you (and no, he's not a "good guy", decent people don't lead others on). You deserve better.

Omg are you me?! I'm 27 but we match up right down to the dates (long-term thing ending in 2017 and situationship in 2018 😂)! Along with a hatred of OLD and the acceptance of possibly never being in a relationship again. Genuinely wish we knew each other irl (along with most of you ladies), swear it would be instant bffs for LIFE 😂 It's crazy how common these shitty experiences with men are, seriously. I applaud and am super happy for the ladies here that have found meaningful relationships on OLD, but looking back through life I cannot think of one single "online connection" that ended up turning into something meaningful, ever (friends, partners, you name it). Yeah I also moved from a small town to the big city and honestly EVERY single HVM I've met has been through repetitive, real-life, interest-based activities. Did you guys see that story about a married guy she worked with also coming forward and testifying to her "crazy behaviour"? I came across it a couple of days after the Central Park racism incident, and it featured the man in question coming forward all "woe is me." I tried to look it up just now, but I think it's either been buried under piles of stories about Priest, or maybe it was about the same guy. Anyways, in this earlier article, he'd also denied having anything other than a "friendship"…

Hello and welcome! We're so glad you're here 🥰 The biggest red flag I've noticed is the abundance of excuses about "not having done as well as he could have" and having "plans to be a doctor." This sounds like it could go in the same category of guys living with their parents until they're in their 30's because they're "saving for a deposit" and all manner of nonsense men will feed whatever cute new thing they're dating, when actually it's all just talk. Yes exactly! Personally, I would NEVER date a guy with children. That is my standard and it will not change. Having children is a huge thing, and the ONLY reason a man would withhold that information is because he doesn't want to compromise his chances with whatever cute new girl he's seeing... otherwise, why hide it? Yeah! Also... if you couldn't make it work with the kid's mom, what makes you think you could make it work with me (a woman you just met)? Fuck off, loser. The dread game description is spot on! I also spoke to a guy like this last summer, but for several months - told me alllll about his childhood traumas, secrets, goals, etc. just to play hot-and-cold later. Your situation sounds much newer, but similar. To me personally, this reeks of avoidant-anxious attachment. I see this behaviour (and the guy attached) as psychologically unhealthy. I personally value consistency, and now block on the first day of silence.

Yes definitely! It's true that the process would be gruelling and traumatic and, in the end, unlikely to give you the result you want. I 100% understand your anxiety and don't blame you for being terrified of coming forward. Joining a women's group might at least let you combat sexual assault/rape in other ways, by helping other women who have gone through the same thing. It might at least help you heal, and ideally feel like you've gotten some of that agency back 😊

/r/FemaleDatingStrategy24/05/20 03:42 PM
11

Yes definitely! But the saddest thing is that I'm sure if they were out with a friend or sibling or whatever that was in that situation, most women (myself included) would make sure they got home safe without a second thought. But when it comes to men, they just can't imagine holding them to 1/10th of the standard they hold themselves to.

I've noticed that a lot of new people are joining (yay!), but it's hard not to notice that there are a lot of comments borderline shaming basic FDS principles. Look, getting to know someone before ANY physical intimacy takes place is very important, and anyone following FDS has always said no to sex before several months had passed and relationship status. It doesn't matter what other people are doing or how quickly guys are trying to get their dicks wet, we stay in public for dates & we say no to anything physical. This pandemic hasn't changed that. Hello! You must be new here 😊 Give it a few weeks and read some other posts - your situation is not uncommon! This is a common LVM/emotional abuser tactic to gaslight you into believing whatever was wrong with the relationship was your fault. He'll soon treat her the same way he treated you - they don't change. It's the same shit, over and over again, relationship after relationship. I have lived in both a small city (spread out over a huge area) and a large, crowded (yet walkable) European city. If you're in a place with limited public transit and cars are just the default means of getting around, then I think any adult with their shit together should have one. In my hometown, most of the people who didn't have a car were just... deadbeat dusties - certainly not the kinds of people that anyone HV should be dating. To me, having a car in a place like this would be a sign of …

Yeah exactly this - and in any situation like this that I've experienced, the overwhelming initial response I've felt is immediate fear/anxiety, even more so when it's someone you know and they can potentially impact your life (& especially your professional life/livelihood). I suspect that OP's response was a knee-jerk reaction coming from a place of self-preservation - I'm sure if it was some guy she'd never have to see/talk to again, e.g., over text with someone she met via OLD, she certainly…

SMH do they think we're fucking stupid?? Like, I've had this happen with multiple people; if you're that ashamed of what you actually do, level up? Suppose lying just takes less effort 😂 "Engineer" exhibit A: turned out to do maintenance at a local high school. Sweeping fucking floors doesn't count as engineering, and lying about that alone was such a turn off to me that I ghosted as soon as I found out. "Engineer" exhibit B: turned out to work at a dildo factory. 🚮🚮🚮 Get. In. The. Bin.

According to FDS, is living together after engagement (with a wedding date set) acceptable? I've read the handbook & want to make sure I didn't miss anything. I just want to avoid the fucktastrophe that would be marrying someone just to have them end up a slob. I think it's a legitimate thing to look out for, as I worry even men who are capable of living as functional adults independently (clean house, cook their food, etc. - all that other "bare muminimum" shit) may backside when moving in with…

Ammolite is also beautiful! And it's interesting: basically fossilized shellfish that took an eternity to form in perfect conditions that could only be found in one strip of the Rocky Mountains. There's a truly finite supply of it, too. Always thought it'd be really nice in a ring 🥰

I find a really good way to figure out if a joke (or any interaction) is acceptable is to just out yourself in their shoes and consider if you'd ever say that to someone, and how saying that thing would reflect the respect you'd feel for that person. That being said, 11 years older?! This guy ain't it sis 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩

No I didn't! I mean, I wanted to (the AUDACITY), but pretty sure it hurt him more to be totally discarded than to have me argue back. Sticking to that FDS bible 😇

Stay strong! If it was a long relationship and you trauma-bonded, our brains can respond to no contact the same way they respond to withdrawal from a drug. The only thing that will make this better is time. I also found that exercising (walks outside in the sunshine) helps in these kinds of situations, as does filling up your time with loved ones (friends and family)! Production-based hobbies (for example, playing an instrument, art) can be really rewarding too. You can do this 🥰

This actually just happened to me! I was speaking with a guy for a couple of months, but he was an infuriating combination of dull with sprinkles of relentless negging. He tried to take up all my time with nonsense texting about the most superficial bullshit. At first I felt bad at the thought of blocking him, and wondered if he just needed some time to because less shy/awkward, or whatever (not making that mistake again...). Anyways, eventually I just couldn't take it anymore and told him I did…

I agree that a good female therapist is an absolute must right now. I haven't been in your situation personally, but I've found that a really good way to start dismantling the habit of objectifying yourself/truly understanding that you deserve better is to imagine how you'd feel if your daughter was going through this (or a young version of your mother, or your sister, any close female relative that you love unconditionally and furiously). I picture how my parents would feel about me entering in…

Yes definitely! And unfortunately there's a lot of "old boy's club" nonsense going on in research still, with credit/project leadership going to men and women getting thankless labour/less promising work thrown at them, which then of course translates to an even crappier situation with stipends, even as students.

Ugh this is nonsense! Sounds like she was a crap friend to begin with. A friend of my sister's had a friend whose husband tried flirting it up with her, and when she told the wife it was the same thing: she basically was frozen out of the friendship, and the couple are still together. Gross. Trash took itself out here; now you can fill the space with happy, confident women in healthy relationships (either with HVMs or with themselves) 🥰

I have in the past, and a part of me feels some resistance to doing so in the future as the reaction was the same as the other comments here describe. However, I have been cheated on in the past... by a man who had a full-blown affair with someone who knew about me. She took a "not my fault, not my problem" attitude with the concept that she may have been involved in hurting another woman, and hid it with him for months. She was a sex-positive, freedom-loving "feminist". She felt she had every r…

Superficially, yes. Really? Nope! Trust me, pllleaseeee, attractive women do not have an easier time dating! LVM's are everywhere and they'll be nicer for like 2 weeks, after which they'll revert back to crappy LVM behaviour. Some of the biggest differences in the early stages include, for example, pretending not to be depraved for like 2 days of texting (as opposed to sending an immediate dick pick, or a lewd remark, or whatever), but that's literally them just trying to con you into giving the…

I know feelings can cloud our judgement when we're in the thick of things, but imagine yourself listening to a friend telling you this story. It's so textbook - he's obviously 100% broken, and all guys like this are good for is wasting your time. You're going to cut contact and you're going to feel sad for a while, but then you're going to surround yourself with hobbies and people who love you (digitally for now) until you stumble across someone that's going to make you wonder what you ever saw …

This! I was in a relationship with a guy who had a terrible SIL. Everyone else was great, but she'd make these passive aggressive jabs at other family members, myself included, and my boyfriend at the time wouldn't say anything. It reeked of cowardice and ultimately massacred any attraction I had for him. A HVM would manage his relationship with his family like an adult, and would not allow them to disrespect you.

Yeah... I dated an LVM who was extremely openly supportive of my schooling/achievements, but ONLY as long as he was objectively more successful. A few years down the line his career hit a snag and he essentially put all his newly-found free time into sabotaging mine. He'd become angry when I didn't give up time I didn't have to watch him play videogames and constantly made snide remarks about me "always studying" and that making him feel as though he "didn't matter". In the end, he had an affair…

You may not want to hear this, but it sounds like you're putting a lot of emotional labour into something that's not going to go anywhere. Sure, this is great for HIM - must be nice to hang out with a pretty girl, no commitment established, right after a breakup. Probably's really helping his confidence AND it's cheaper than therapy! Guys that are fresh out of something are a red flag, in my opinion. Getting to know each other genuinely before getting into something serious is fine, but you need…

Oh, also I've got a doctorate, work as a professional in a fairly posh city, and my style's "classy" as well - silk blouses, pearl necklaces, pencil skirts - that sort of thing. AND IT DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE LVM'S GUNNA LVM 😂 So just be yourself and keep those standards high! Filter through the shitty ones and your chances of finding a HVM are much higher 🥰

This exactly! Mid-20's, blonde, thin, conventionally ultra-attractive woman speaking here... dating sucks for us too. My friends that appear more "plain" (still very beautiful in my opinion, but you catch my drift) are immediately contacted with those lewd, pervy, ultra-disrespectful messages, and it LOOKS different from my end because I have an inbox full of guys trying to put on this "prince charming" act... but they're usually the same guys, after the same thing. All it means is we have to pu…

Exactly this! It's dangerous and toxic to tell girls otherwise - leads to self-esteem issues tied in with the idea that being conventionally beautiful will solve all their dating woes.

Careful with this mindset - just because you're conventionally attractive as a woman doesn't mean you will be treated better by more men, and it's very important that you don't think that's the case, as you NEED to avoid letting your guard down. If anything, your vetting process should be more stringent as it will be very likely that you'll be attracting a lot of LVMs that will tell you whatever you'd like to hear to get into your pants. If a broken guy hates women and refuses to see them as hum…

It's possible you might meet a man like this that is actually a HVM and genuinely good person. It's also possible an older man like this that's never married is a commitment-phobe. I would also be wary if you're dealing with a never-before-married man who's had one or more long-term relationships lasting several years each, especially if you're looking for marriage. This kind of man (I call them "stringers") enjoys all the benefits of commitment/having a wife (sharing a home with a woman that li…

Hey, I just wanted to offer some support. I'm really sorry this happened to you, and I hope you've recovered and are faring well emotionally (and physically) now. Lying with the purpose of manipulating someone into intimacy with you is absolutely sexual assault - you are taking away their ability to offer informed consent, much like poking holes in a condom, or removing a condom during sex, or lying about having an STI takes away a victim's ability to offer informed consent. Do not let anyone te…

It may be fine - but I just want to add the one experience I had with someone like this (pre-FDS days). I had been seeing someone for several months and only had him on WhatsApp. I also could not find him anywhere online. He ghosted me after we became intimate and, seeing as I could not find him on any social media, I had no way to contact him afterwards. Several weeks later, I had a suggested friend come up on my Facebook feed. I did not recognize her, but looked at her profile regardless. We h…
