Actually, they are very much obligated to wear those things, otherwise they won't be allowed to enter. Same way that a lot of jobs in the restaurant or bar industry requires women to wear short skirts and other skimpy clothing, heals, etc. Required, as in they will be fired if they do not. I would much rather wear comfortable dress shoes than high heals (and if you don't agree, try wearing high heals for a night, while working on your feet, you'll be begging for those dress shoes) and I'd also rather not have to wear a short skirt, instead of pants, or a short cut blouse, instead of a shirt. Of course there are standards for clothing for both sexes, but one is a hell of a lot more tolerable than the other. Women don't mind being told to wear nice dress pants, black shoes of their chosing, and black pants. Just like men do too. The point is, women don't get that choice in many jobs- where is the equality in that? You're right, women and men should be on the same level every day, but they aren't. Fighting the fact that women get to ride the bus for free for one day makes you seem like an asshole, simply because women are still not treated equal in many other respects yet. And yet this is the inequality you choose to argue over.

Oh besides, most women are given the option between pants and skirts.

The point is, women don't get that choice in many jobs - where is the equality in that?

Where is the equality when, with the same experience and same education, women are most likely to get hired BECAUSE of feminism?

I argue over every inequality. I am against every inequality. The fact you heard me debate on this single topic does not mean it is the same for every topic. There are inequalities and feminism is enforcing inequalities against men more than uplifting women - they're uplifting women as they are trying to bring down men.

You're looking at one nice thing done for ~~women~~ men for that day and turning it into a horrible thing just because you don't get the same thing.

You just described feminism, for every single aspect of it. I do agree with you that it is ridiculous, but what's more ridiculous is bringing a knife to a gun fight. They make a fuss out of it, and you expect us to let it pass? How many times are you going to let it pass?

Make sure you record it.

Turn on the camera. Get on the bus without paying, just walk in. When the bus driver calls you, you say "It's free today", he'll reply "its only free for women", you answer calmly "but, isn't this discrimination?", he'll probably say he didn't make the rules just doing his job, ask him "who made the rule?", he'll say the company, then calmly walk out.

Rince and repeat for a whole bunch of busses.

Then you can file a civil lawsuit with "Les petites creances" for each instance of being refused the ride, be reasonable with the compensation, ask for JUST the price of each rides refused PLUS COURT FEES.

make sure you not the time and date of each instances. That'll get the company in the news. expect to pay a bit if you lose (might be about $200 of court fee but I'm not sure, not a lawyer so check for yourself), changing the world isn't free.

Look. You can ascribe all sorts of horrible things you want to me, or you can ask me what I think. I made one statement about how it would be funny if dudes in dresses with beards tried to claim they were women and ride for free, because I find that hilarious. From that you are going to assume I hate an entire segment of the population? We weren't talking about trans people in this thread, we were talking about how how silly and slightly discriminatory it is for women to get a day to ride free. I see women as people; not as a special group that needs special privileges or deserves a special reason to celebrate their existence.

In all reality, if someone wants me to call them a particular name and use a particular pronoun, I am going to do it. I don't give too big of a fuck what you look like and I am not in a position to judge from the way I live my own life.

Are you trans yourself? For some reason I doubt it. For some reason I think you are trying to be an over zealous advocate. Here's my thinking: Let people speak for themselves. I know I don't particularly like other people speaking for me or standing up for me, that is my job and if I can't do it for myself I don't deserve to have it done. Sure it did, but it did spread the message about how silly the whole "teach the controversy" bullshit really is. Maybe it is time to use some of our natural strengths to our advantage. Humor is one of those.

I don't know much about /r/atheism nor its decline because I have never gone there, so I can't really comment on it. I will say that FSM really blew up the discussion about creation science, turned it into national news even more than it had been before.

If you don't think a bunch of guys dressed in ugly dresses trying to ride the bus for free because they are "women" screaming discrimination at the bus drivers wouldn't show up on the news and get some attention, even negative attention, you are crazy. That attention can be used to spread a more positive message.

We need to be using every tool in the shed, even if it is unpalatable. How do you think the feminists got where they are? Did they play nice?

I know your questioning but you will find if you can deal with being overly sensitive (which is natural for people that struggle with identity) and start seeing your self as empowered, and find the humor in being a person that is questioning, you will find that MRA is the group for you. Don't use what you feel and experiance to become a victim, use it to free yourself of victim ideology or you will not find happiness in what ever idenity you "choose".

I'm going to make an appeal to my age because I have know LGBT people much older than you and you have no idea how good you have it now compared to when hiv/aids was killing and decimating whole communities, and transpeople were regularly beaten some times stripped naked in public and seen as sub-human. Those I know would be and are ashamed to see the LGBT youth become a pardoy of there struggle.

But gay men I've known that lost loved ones to AIDS and friends I've lost to AIDS and have been attacked violently because of what people thought of who they slept with would say and I have to agree "Stop being such a fag"(I say that with love you had to be around then because it was meant with love). On a side note Eric whom we called him Humming bird when it was getting close to him going in hospice because he wieghted next to nothing and the only way he could quinch his thirst because of the medication was he would drink pitchers of sprite drowned in grenadine syrup It looked like humming bird food. Do Eric a favor and find your inner streangth because he faced death in agony and with a smile.
