is quite possibly the worst place to live if you have a penis. I just posted another AMA, but figured I should write a quick one for this too.

Background... my parents were married for years. My dad is probably the most honest person I know. He would never do anything dishonest, and he would never try and screw over my mom. About 3 years after moving there, she filed for separation from my dad. That kicked off the 3+ year process that ended with my dad now being on the run.

My dad made a lot of money ... millions... but the industry he is in got hit extremely hard during the mortgage crisis, so that money dwindled.

At the very beginning, he offered half of everything. She declined. He then offered her a lot more than half. She declined.

She thought that my dad had hidden money. Her first attorney and first set of forensic accountants told her that it all checked out and no money was hidden. She fired them. The second lawyer and forensic accountant told her the same thing. She fired them. The third lawyer and accountant saw an opportunity.

Over the next three years, she spent on attorney's trying to find this hidden money... which they keep telling her is there despite no evidence. In addition to this... during the entire 3 years... she received $13,000 a month tax free.

Well, at trial, they were not able to prove that any money was missing. No evidence whatsoever, it was all accounted for. (Duh, my mom initiated the divorce, my dad fought it and didn't want it to happen... it devastated him.)

Thankfully, I went to the trial and watched everything so I know exactly what went down and what they were able to prove. Her attorney's were the dirtiest of the dirty. They actually provided fabricated documents to the judge and told him that it was from my father's side.

Didn't matter... the Judge (who was a simple minded idiot) awarded nearly everything to my mom... and huge alimony payments. He told my dad that because he was able to make millions in the past, he could do it again. This is knowing full well that my father was defaulting on multiple loans, is 4 million in debt, and there is no way he'd be able to get the capital to do what he did again.

Long story short... my dad could only pay my mom about a month towards the end. He is \ behind right now.

My mom has brought a contempt of court hearing against him. She has asked the judge to put my dad in jail unless he can pay the rest. My dad just does not have the money. Literally 90% of what he is bringing in is going to my mom. He is also required to maintain all of the assets, but obviously there is no money to do so.

Well, his attorney's have told him that the judge could very well decide to send him to jail over this. As of right now, he is on the run... the way contempt works is that they HAVE to serve my dad personally. If they track him down and serve him, he is going to have to leave the country because he will have an arrest warrant out (he isn't going to risk going to court and being jailed immediately).

I fully support his actions. What the court is ordering is essentially slavery. You either work and pay your wife an obscene amount of money a month, or we are going to throw you in jail. It doesn't matter that there is no way you can earn that much... you have to. It is insane.

Anyways, there is a lot I haven't included in the interest of brevity... my mom is insane and is basically out to make as much money as she can at any expense.
