AITA for expecting human decency? Also, she has CHILDREN with this person.

Tell me men are the biggest attention whores without telling me men are the biggest attention whores. What a full body cringe moment lol

The cringe here is so real. Yet this is how the guys they look up to behave towards their wife

I'd have walked off and cancelled the wedding. But I'm at the stage in life where I'd rather be dead than with the wrong person. Some people are scared of being alone and this is the result.

There’s a comment on the original post talking about a guy who pulled a similar stunt at his wedding and the priest just slammed his book shut and walked off lmao. Ofc the comments were talking about how “humorless” the priest was being 🙄

Yeah because getting married isn't a serious occasion /s

This is a big "nope" from me, chief.

Super weird how a lot of the comments on the main post are like, "You don't know him or their relationship! He's probably just a funny guy who jokes around, and this is totally normal for him!" Like, yeah dude, that's the point. If his idea of peak comedy is to turn what was supposed to be he and his wife's most important moment of their life into a laugh to impress his bros and extended family, he's not a good person.

Edit, because some people are saying "she's laughing too!": she's laughing for a second, and then hangs her head and her face is bright red. She's also wringing her hands anxiously. Doesn't sound look like someone who was in on the joke or who enjoyed it.

I’m divorcing him, take your jokes anywhere else

[–]Jandi18FDS Newbie 359 points360 points361 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

What’s with this new age "I’m joking but I’m actually negging my partner” crap. It’s like men want to look cool by mocking their partner ( mostly online) and saying it’s a joke. Then people will awww and talk about how sweet he is 🤢. This isn’t funny! Who started this stupid trend?

[–]falconersysFDS Newbie[S] 101 points102 points103 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wish the crowd wouldn't have laughed so they just stood up on the stage and had the realization of how dumb this is.

[–]W3remaidFDS Newbie 24 points25 points26 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There’s nothing new about it— it’s just a hip spinoff of the ol’ ball-n-chain jokes of the past. Misogyny lives to fight another day 🙄

[–]PrivyPalFDS Newbie 103 points104 points105 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I would scream from the crowd 'RUN WHILE YOU CAN' in stead of enabling his subpar behaviour by laughing.

And that coming from a man, who's not even that attractive from what I can see (beer bellies typically aren't a sign of looking after yourself). I feel for her. Wish she discovered FDS and would've dumped his ass.

Unfortunate that the wedding celebration didn't turn into a "I said no and just dodged a huge bullet" celebration.

[–]Phoenix__Rising2018Ruthless Strategist 226 points227 points228 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This isn't a time to joke. He is supposed to show his love for her in front of everybody but he's not enough of a man. He has to make it into a joke at her expense because he's a little dick. This is sad and not cute.

All these LVM constantly fuck up the wedding. They don't like their future wife and feel they are settling. If he truly had a deep and committed love of her he would show it unequivocally.

[–]falconersysFDS Newbie[S] 106 points107 points108 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Seriously. How insecure and idiotic do you need to be to think this is even remotely a funny or clever idea? He values those three seconds of laughter from the crowd more than he values his wife.

Imagine showing your kids the video from your wedding, and instead of lovely wedding vows, it's "See sweetie, this is where daddy turned a lifelong promise into a giggle for his frat boys! Yes, he hasn't talked to them for 10 years now, but their seal of approval made everything so romantic and charming!" Retch.

If he's not taking this moment in his life seriously I'm sure he won't take being a husband seriously. But this is probably not his last "Yeah, I Do."

Oh how I wish she would have thrown down her flowers and walked away, bridesmaids following her. Not even a need for an annulment or divorce. Going to make me the butt of a joke? Joke's on you, sucker, I'm not marrying your sorry ass. (But who would have the presence of mind to think of doing that? Very, very few if any.)

“Kyle walked back with a gleeful expression, confident that he really pwned me today. I took a moment to regain my composure from the shock, cocked my head as if regarding an alien, looked him dead in the eye, raised one finger, and said, ‘Hang on’. Then I turned around, and walked away. The guests gasped- was the offended bride leaving the ceremony? Oh no, just a casual stroll over to the ladies, to commence my own huddle. He was going to get a real good look at that train! The girls gathered around, all of us leaning in. And I reeeallly drew that shit out. Kellyanne looked back at my groom once and made a gesture alluding to the beer belly, and I nodded in agreement. Awkward giggles from the audience.

After a moment of consultation with the sisterhood, I returned to my groom, now rocking on his heels, only to have another thought to go running back to the girls for a second huddle. More nervous laughter from the guests. After what seemed like an eternity, I finally exited the group to stand before my groom, who is now red faced, and gave him a wink. On the count of 3, the bridesmaids, now stonefaced and back in formation, chanted in unison like a Greek fucking chorus behind me, ‘Don’t you ever pull that shit again, Kyle’. There was a beat of horrifying silence, before my ladies erupted into peals of girlish laughter and a round of applause. The guests joined in, as they were just relieved to be rid of the uneasy tension that filled the room like it was an Andy Kaufman show. Nothing relieves tension like peals of girlish laughter!

‘Hilarious!’, I say with my mouth to my groom, who is now mopping sweat from his brow.

But my eyes say something else entirely: ‘Kyle, my love? Know it: you will never, ever best me when it comes to coordinating anything. I run our fucking household, I coordinate our fucking social calendar, I planned this fucking wedding. I am always, always one step ahead of you and for damn sure I will slay your ass on any bullshit coordinated ‘comedy’ stunts designed as cover for mockery. I will do it on the spot, and you will come out of it looking like a fool, every goddamn time. Fuck around and find out, because if you ever try me with humiliation again, you’ll be in another huddle, but you won’t be laughing.’

Kyle is now trembling. I apologize to Pastor Fred for the irreverent shenanigans, yet he nods towards me with understanding. I will be paying him extra anyway for the trouble. Or rather, Kyle will.”

Awk

[–]herbivorouscarnivoreFDS Newbie 76 points77 points78 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is one of those things with the potential to be funny, but the keys are (a) the bride has to be in on the joke (b) it needs to actually be a joke, not some passive aggressiveness with deep roots in truth, and (c) the groom and his friends aren’t actually scrotes.

And the more I think about it, I can imagine my late husband at the rehearsal dinner turning to his best friend with a look of mock worry and ask, “Do I…?” before turning back to me with a big grin and saying, “Just kidding! Of course I do.” He would never at the actual ceremony.

And we would never upload a video to the internet because people who don’t know us would get the wrong idea.

[–]preppykat3FDS Newbie 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So gross and childish. Imagine if women acted like this. A male ego definitely can’t handle it.

[–]sheokayFDS Newbie 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Imagine the kind of self-esteem she must have to have taken such a thing. The proper response was to wait until he got back and then announce she won’t marry him. Walk out lol.

"Yuh, I do"

Just throw the whole man out, JFC. I like how even the priest was like "WTF is this clown?"

This gives you an indication of how the rest of the marriage will be
