Of course they do, not just with nurses, with women in general. I've known a few female nurses before and yeah, they admitted that not only have they chased after doctors, their colleagues do too. I've heard it said a few times that the doctors either refuse to date nurses at all, or they're super arrogant and treat them like shit.

I imagine it changes from place to place, but I'm talking about a large capital city in Australia.

Workplace relationships are always a bad idea. I’ve had two (the second, he was already actively looking for a job though) and would emphatically warn anyone against them.

But yes, men in high-status positions like doctors would of course have an advantage. I just started working at a hospital as well, and you can see how women look at or treat them differently.

Yeah I mean, status, pre-selection etc. but also I'm assuming they earn a steady 6 figure salary, that's top 10% of men in the US in terms of salary. Not a surprise. On the doctor's side, I'm not surprised they want to bang girls, HOWEVER, the workplace is a no go for relationships or hookups :3

Don't do them my job is worth way more than being chased, I never got the doctor treatment though.

However, the same does not seem to apply to female doctors and male nurses or maybe the sample size is just too small to judge.

I mean I never understood why this is so shocking to women, men don't really care about your job or degree.

Tbh I really think the reason that female doctors dont get the same treatment as their male counterparts is because of some men getting insecure and intimidated being with someone who makes more money than them. Im sure there a lot of guys who wouldn’t give a shit about that, but a lot of them do and it’s intimidating to them. That’s why in the mainstream culture, the roles like “maid” or “nurse” is considered sexy for girls (roles where they’re following orders) and authoritative roles like “doctor” or “cop” is considered hot for guys. Im in med school and I’ve heard from a male classmate that when they introduce themselves as a med student, the vibe changes into a more “flirtatious” vibe. Whereas when I introduce myself as a med student on dates, the reaction I get is either being impressed and thinking that Im smart or getting asked if it means that Im gonna be a nurse(which is perfectly fine, but it’s kinda weird that that’s what most of the people automatically think of). It’s rarely someone getting “extra interested” because of my career path, Im not complaining but that’s just my observation and I think it comes from guys’ insecurity.

Been hit on by two female docs. One was very obvious about it, the other a bit more subtle. Wanted to go for it, but I'm not about to potentially throw my comfy healthcare away.

Hospitals are crawling with high status men as well, of course there are plenty of good looking residents in their mid twenties-mid thirties that are drowning in nurse poon or at least the opportunity. Nowadays the risk is too high, nobody wants to get "metoo'd" so they probably dont act out on it mostly out of caution. 4 years med school, another four residency, plus whatever the fuck docs have to do to make it official.

I'm personally never going to jeopardize my pleb bachelor's degree, so it's an even harder sell to risk 10+ years of med school. Realistically, most docs are prude nowadays.

A manager in another department literally showed me sexts from his appointment planner, tits, ass, the whole thing. He even disclosed that he probably wasnt going to act on it .

Yes, the average smv is way higher on average among healthcare workers. Above average intelligence, conscientious, relatively young and good looking people are everywhere. Male nurses are (usually) either flamboyantly gay or comically alpha, female nurses are usually hot af. I just try to keep my head down and do my tests

Hospitals in general are social shitshows with all kinds of drama and cheating between all staff.

But the whole nurse/ doctor thing happens far less often than years ago. As a nurse it hurts you professionally if you bang doctors. Nobody respects you because you are obviously not reliable and if you had some idea of getting promoted it won't happen.

Best advice I can give you is spend less time worrying about whatever bullshit your colleagues are doing because especially in your first few jobs people move around a lot anyway. So more than half the colleagues you work with now won't even be there in two years. Instead of worrying about policing or judging the behavior of others use this time to find a professional mentor and set some achievable career goals.

I have no familiarity with this type of environment. I’m not sure why multiple people are interested in one person. The idea should be not to compete with others but to make it as easy as possible to get someone for yourself. At least that would be my thinking about the situation you’re referring to.

I work in the corporate world so there isn’t a real divide like you describe, but that sounds just embarrassing for everyone involved. There are relationships in all work places but I’ve never seen obvious hookups or anything like that. It’s professional.

I would guess male doctors do have an advantage in dating though. It’s been the “good catch” stereotype for decades

Look at your own post. See the difference in the way you are judging the women as opposed to the men?

A whole lot of people, including those who are senior to those doctors you see on the floors treating patients, tend to judge men and women the same way. And, as you probably know, the medical field is very political.

Behaviors that would get a "boys will be boys" shake of the head for a man from those in charge could very likely end a career for a woman.

Women wouldn't waste time with Male nurses as a doctor. They are above male nurses. The minimum is Male doctor or higher, like a surgeon.

Men don't mind going lower because we don't care about titles and pay grades in sexual partners.

Idk , but honestly in a few facilities I worked was female dominated . So never really seen this has OP stated. When I worked in the main hospital , was so busy working didn't have time to get involved with the drama. However it was female dominated on the floors too. Yea there are male doctors but they are usually so overwhelmed with orders that it was business. Just trying to keep their head afloat with all the patients needs.

Edit : Where I work now , it's completely female dominated , except for a few males in PT . Upper management is all female too.
