So I stumbled upon a question on askfeminists a few days ago and I came across some comments. One comment mentioned that while men can benefit from patriarchy, they can also be at a disadvantage too. They later stated that they would not classify this as oppression though.

This kind of confused me though. Typically when you see a situation where a woman is granted something that a man wouldn't you would often hear the phrase, "Well, you can blame the patriarchy for that." If this is the case, then doesn't this mean that while women certainly are at a disadvantage with patriarchy that they can also have benefits as well? Obviously, this mainly applies in the west.

I've also often seen men and women say that these situations are birthed from misogyny. This doesn't make any sense either. If I hate you, why would I grant you anything? If I'm a racist and I let someone off the hook for not being white, by that logic I'm racist? I don't get it. Anyways, what do you people think?
