Pay wall.

Also this is from 2005, would be nice to have more recent figures.

That’s the same article.

Actually, it’s even better that it’s from 2005, because we are supposedly ‘more equal’ now than in previous years (although apparently not completely equal yet).

equality of outcome is horrible

we do not have equal opportunity aslong as pregnancy holds women back... however i agree that equality of outcome is impossible...

[–]meaty_wheelchair 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

pregnancy holds them back, sure

on the other hand we have absolutely no way of deciding whether we want to be a parent or not

unlike women who have a metric fuck ton of methods to prevent pregancies, as well as abortion

we do not even have paper abortion

[–]odysseytree 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Pregnancy is a choice. Women who want to settle the score with men can choose to be childless.

[+]SweetAccomplished542 -7 points-6 points-5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women were made of men from a man’s rib and were never meant to be equal to men. They are mens downfall.

In terms of what?

btw do you know equity?

Yeah, cherry picking good things and discarding bad things.

O did not get any paywall from where I am.

Besides ... the guy published the same statement in a recent book (The boys crisis). So he is doubling down on the same issue.

I also don't see how the figures would be that different considering the overall direction of the society

[–]Longjumping_Chart_95 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's probably got worse to be honest. Facts and figures like this tend to get buried and not spoken about as you will be labelled sexist

Probably far worse. Look at academia, now vastly over-represented by women at all fields except engineering. But even in engineering, women have a much higher chance per-application to be accepted for a prestigious school or PhD track leading to higher paying jobs.

Look at big tech companies, when you compare the average person in school studying computer science or software engineering with the people they are offering internship and full-time positions, there is a huge disconnect. The bar for a man is much higher at every level.

Then I'm not even talking about scholarships, angel investments, awards, etc. of which a huge chunk are now women or "minority" only. Men from low income background have severe problems with socio-economic mobility because there are almost no places for help or support.

Diversity hire, diversity pay

The amount of time that I have seen different teams complaining that the diversity hires receiving diversity pay aren't working as efficiently is through the roof. Coming from a guy who's not white.

[–]Zenia_neow 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I come from the middle east, we don't have diversity related hiring over here. Despite it being a very traditionalist society, women earn the majority of degrees, and we have one of the highest number of female stem graduates. While there's still disparity between men and women in the workforce, very often you come across female employees who get paid alot more since they're usually in management positions.

Affirmative action has a lot to do with this

[–][deleted] 50 points51 points52 points 3 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

I guess ... if so, it is a clear overshoot

[–]jessi387 35 points36 points37 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I agree. If it were the other way around, you’d hear about it everywhere

[–]Ornuth3107 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We do hear about it everywhere, even though it isn't true.

[–]DavidByron2 57 points58 points59 points 3 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

"overshoot" implies women ever earned less which isn't true.

it's like that old "pendulum swinging in women's favor" slogan. It justifies discrimination based on making up lies about the past.

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points20 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Not necessarily. .. it implies that some correction (affirmative action) was applied to achieve a target (supposedly equality ).

But I see where u are coming from. It might be that the read of initial state was wrong to begin with (in that case any action is an overshoot)

[–]DavidByron2 17 points18 points19 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

It might be that the read of initial state was wrong to begin with

No we always knew the feminist pay gap argument was bullshit. There used to be a government page explaining it. There was no mistake made. It's propaganda of a hate movement. I'm saying don't repeat hate speech.

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Bro ... I'm trying to keep the scientific analysis here.

I'm 100% against this pay gap bullshit we hear everywhere. But we can keep the conversation with arguments better than just "this is feminism bullshit ".

There is a lot of feminist bullshit outthere... but we gotta communicate better than they if we want to shut it down

[–]DavidByron2 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Like I said there was a .gov web site debunking it as recently as about 2000. And I'm not seeing any explanation of the wage gap from you here; saying it's bullshit is fine because it is. My point is it's been known to be false for a long long time. I'm not sure there was ever a point people thought it was true.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Have you ever heard of overuse?

I don't give yiu any explanation of the wage gap, because I don't believe it exists

[–]DavidByron2 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

[–]kratbegone 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yea just dig your head in the sand and ignore there is no difference when looking at job vs job. Now if you want to argue that overall women get paid less as a whole for a few reasons, then we can agree: Women work less hours, i believe the average is around 30 hours. Women work less dangerous and demanding jobs women voluntarily go for less paying jobs since that is what THEY WANT Women are not as represented in top jobs because those require 60-80 hour a week and only men kill themselves for those.

In Scandinavian countries, where equality is law via welfare, via women flocked over 95% to "women job" voluntarily after they started the plan to allow everyone to do whatever they want through welfare. https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/03/scandinavian-gender-equality-myth-us-more-female-managers/

Women are smarter in 1 way, they value family over work. Ain't no job going to visit you in the hospital when you are old. You aren't going to remember that time at work when John brought in a cake, but you will remember your kids when they were young.

Women fall for this and are suffering and no-one is happy, men or women now, but that is the goal of the left, everyone equally miserable.

[–]maxwellsearcy -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I didn't read your venom. Whatever.

[–]Stompya 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

There’s evidence that nowadays the pay gap is actually the result of taking time off to raise a child; the career path is interrupted and sometimes fully reset which leads to lower overall income than someone who stays in their industry.

[–]Oncefa2 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

That's been a long standing theory, but there's newer research that debunks that.

It's likely that men just have more pressure in life to work harder and make sacrifices to earn more money. (While women are allowed to sit back, enjoy themselves, and eventually use these men as a substitute for having real careers themselves).

Men are judged by their ability to earn money. Especially in a romantic context by women. In fact, your earnings capability is the single best predictor for whether or not you'll get married. Having a reduction in income is likewise the best predictor for divorce.

There's also a really good study showing that women with children earn just as much as married women without children. They aren't "punished" in terms of earnings by taking time off to raise a child. Instead, when they come back to work, they end up on a similar trajectory as childless women.

What the research did find was that married men on average earn twice what everyone else does (including single men). Indicating that high earning men are "chosen" by women for marriage. Which then causes the wage gap.

Meanwhile single men on average do not statistically earn more than single women.

Which means the wage gap shouldn't be thought of in terms of men vs women but should instead be seen as married men earning more than everyone else (literally by a factor of 200%).

rubbish... you can research it with data from the eu and compare pay gaps there... specially luxembourg and their 1%...

It's from 2005.

I dunno how much affirmative action was there at that time.

[–]jessi387 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I’m pretty sure policies like that have been in place since the 1970’s although I hope somebody will correct me if I’m wrong

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's the date I also have in mind. Though it went ar least a little back in the 80s

[–]MRA_TitleIX 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Affirmative action programs (AAPs) are absolutely still running. University of Louisville runs one for women even though they are the majority of students and staff. AAPs are not at all uncommon.

I would guess that AAPs aren't the major factor on this stat though.

[–]Dramatic-Essay-7872 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You have 100 men and 100 women working in three occupations: A, B and C.

Occupation A has 50 men earning $100 and 10 women earning $110.

Occupation B has 40 men earning $50 and 40 women earning $55.

Occupation C has 10 men earning $30 and 50 women earning $33.

In this hypothetical scenario, all the women are being paid 10% more than all the men in all three jobs.  The men, taken altogether, are earning an average of $73. The women are earning an average of $49.50. Even though the women are being paid 10% more for the same job.

I thought pay gap was a myth? But now that some women earn more, it suddenly is real? Wtf, choose please.

[–][deleted] 43 points44 points45 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Well... according to the author, it is worse than a myth. It is the contrary of what has been claimed

[–]NetNeutralitee1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

But why disbelieve it when men make more and instantly believe it when women make more? I think that’s the question.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Pretty sure there have been numerous studies done and it falls into the fact that men take harder jobs such as plumbing, masonry work, construction , etc. Also, men work harder hours. Or they enter engineering. Which women have been much more encouraged to enter. However I think I heard in Scandinavia they are egalitarian or try to me at least. They tried to push women into more jobs men usually enter. They realized women are more nurturing. Which they end up pursuing career wise as well usually. Physicians, nurses, teachers, etc. that explains the gap where there are any.

[–]FootFetishAdvocate 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Honestly a good mindset. It's hard for me to be convinced by anything after seeing a single article

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because the wage gape is based on an average earning, not accounting for women possibly taking more part time roles, more pregnancy leave etc, and was peddled as a bullshit narative to justify a “patriarchy”, and I am unsure of the validity of these findings. That is because unlike you I can think with reason, and understand that not every data set is presented truthfully and that skepticism is important.

[–]TAPriceCTR 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

the wage gap is a myth. the earnings gap is real.

[–]StarCultiniser 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago* (28 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, 117% seems kinda extreme(haven't read the article though) but it has always been that women are being unfairly paid more than men, when they studied the pay gap they found that men as a whole earn more than women mainly bc of job decisions and some other things however they also found that while men and women will be paid the same amount for the same job but not paid for equal work as on average the man was doing somewhere around 10% more work(don't remember exactly but it was somewhere around there) which means the "pay gap" should be wider than it currently is. Also, women can get jobs when they aren't as qualified just for being a woman which I think should contribute to being unfairly paid.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (27 children) | Copy Link

You have not read but has so many opinion to share about the article?

[–]StarCultiniser -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

Wasn't talking about the article, was replying to a comment about how there has been a real unfair payment for a while now so it's not something that suddenly real just cuz the narrative has been flipped.

If yiu read the article you will find the female sales engineers earn 140% what their make counterparts earn.

[+]stacyxxluv -10 points-9 points-8 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Pay gap isn’t real.. why would they pay women 18% more? Wouldn’t they just hire only men in that case because that is cheaper?

[–]DavidByron2 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

why would they pay women 18% more?

Because they need to hire women to fulfil quotas so women are worth more to employers.

Try to think before asking these questions.

[–]stacyxxluv 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But women earn less in general? So I’m not saying it doesn’t happen. But it’s not something that happens most jobs. Maybe a few jobs like engineering, scientist etc. But even then, do you have any prove that they pay women more just because they are women?

[–]DavidByron2 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But women earn less in general?

Yes until quite recently most women didn't do any paid work at all. How "oppressed". But you don't want to claim women earn less do you? You want to claim they earn less for the same work and that's not true.

do you have any prove that they pay women more just because they are women?

Well apart from the 117% thing above? What evidence would count?

If it helps then think of fulfilling an employer's quota system as a separate "job" (requiring zero effort) that women (but not men) fulfil. They are paid more because they are doing two jobs for the employer. It's just that one job requires zero effort but simply "being female". If you think of it like that you can return to the sill capitalist view of labor and the so-called free market on labor.

[–]NetNeutralitee1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

This is a logical approach. Dismissing the pay gap for years and then immediately believing it when it’s the other way is pretty bad logic. But logic isn’t always the strength here.

[–]Fearless-File-3625 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Obviously you are too stupid to understand the difference.

[–]stacyxxluv -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So what is the difference then? Is it not because childless women on average value their career’s a lot more then women that choose children? I mean it’s just not smart for a career women to have kids. So it makes sense that they earn a lot of money. It’s also usually highly educated women that choose to not have kids or get married. So if you compare that with every man (also men that are uneducated, have simple jobs), then of course the educated unmarried women earn a lot more in average.

[–]stacyxxluv -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, my god these people are so dumb.

[–]NetNeutralitee1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

Is it not possible that young childless women are just more committed to their jobs?

[–]criticalkid2 18 points19 points20 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's quite the unfounded assumption. If you don't have any evidence or even any speculation, my first instinct is no. They are not more committed.

[–]DavidByron2 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because?

In fact it's likely the premium for women was (20 years ago) more than 17% and that the 17% figure represents the fact that childless men were still under more pressure to earn in anticipation of getting married even though it hadn't happened yet.

The fact is we know it's men not women who tend to be "just more committed to their jobs" in general so why would this be reversed for young childless people?

[–]Roody-Poo_Jabroni 40 points41 points42 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I’ve always wondered how much less men would earn each year as a whole if guys just didn’t have any interest in finding a mate or getting married. For example, I’ve always wondered how many finance majors would have been music majors had the need to get laid and attract a mate been a non-issue. I really feel like the need for female attention plays a huge role in a lot of guys’ career paths

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I believe so

[–]mixing_saws 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Definitly. I knew a guy that stopped becoming a police officer because of his girlfriend. His girlfriend left him 6 months after he resigned. The thirst for pussy is the downfall for many good men out there. Why is no one teaching our young boys of these problems? To be careful?

[–]Roody-Poo_Jabroni 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah dude. As a man, affirmation and affection are so scarce that we can often be easily manipulated with these things. It’s men’s biggest weakness. I’ve always felt that that’s the most important realization a man can have about himself.

[–]TAPriceCTR 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

look to the grass eaters of japan. when men give up impressing women they can live for MUCH less.

[–]AlwaysPetTheBear 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They do this in Hong Kong and South Korea too, "Hermit men". These dudes basically live in a tiny box doing what they are passionate about like art and such, just making a tiny living and doing what they like in the most simple of ways. I have watched a lot of youtube docs and interviews with these guys and while living a really boring life, they are pretty happy just sticking to themselves.

[–]TAPriceCTR 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Camille Paglia "If civilization had been left in female hands we would still be living in grass huts." Along a similar vane, I imagine the construction of houses would be on par with a midieval blacksmith shop or barn if males were not trying to impress females.

[–]Zenia_neow -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah well, I would say most women above 20 don't seem to care if what they're doing is motivated by the need to attract men or not. They seem to know that being a wealthy/established woman intimidates plenty of men enough approach them but they pursue careers anyways for practical reasons.

[–]AndyBrown65 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

The feminists would lose their minds if they say it was written by Warren Farrel.

I'm not actually surprised by this. Barren, unmarried women are more likely to be university educated and in careers, whereas childless unmarried men are more likely to be blue collar workers or unemployed.

The rules of hypergamy in action. Lower class, disadvantaged men in dead end jobs are less attractive to women and "high flying" career women "battling the patriarchy one glass ceiling at a time" are more likely not to want to have children as they get in the way of their career.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

As far as understood, the author just make the comparison among men and women who made similar career choices and concludes women are paid more.

But I understand where u are coming from.

I particularly have no issue with the lady avoiding kids and pursuing a career. It's her choice I guess. I don't want to be a walker for any women (I did already dodge so bullets), so I like when they make their money AND split the bills as well.

But I do have an issue with how the play-field is becoming more and more biased against men. And with all the double standards we see.

[–]mixing_saws 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Honestly you gotta admit the corpos really made a smart move. Thanks to feminism they doubled the work force and are effectively paying the same for wages in terms of purchasing power. And add to that the nature of female hypergamy, means the more successful a women is, the less likely she is to find a partner and get pregnant. Thus she is working more same as the men that got forced into lower jobs. Working their asses of to even get a crumb of pussy. They really know how to exploit human mating behaviour. Unless women actively 180 their matinf behaviour, its game over. We men that dont belong to the top 20% can only go MGTOW if we want to somehow live a fulfilled and happy life. If we simp we lose.

[–]Chemical_History_103 -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I don't think hypergamy exist. Can you give me evidence?

[–]mixing_saws 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Did you try to google hypergamy? There are papers about that. Come on. Its not that difficult

[–]Chemical_History_103 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes but thay are unreliable considering most of their theories is that this is the evo psych of women but Evolutionary psychology is a flawed and unreliable branch of psychology.

[–]Zenia_neow -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why are you envious lol. Most 20 year old men I meet in my life are overconfident and only after they hit 25 they realize they have nothing to show. Girls however prepare for adulthood very early on.

I've seen plenty of resumes written by 20 year old male and female interns and I've always noticed men being more confident about themselves despite having little achievements/ extra curricula activities to show in thier resumes, vs women who think they haven't done enough.

[–]B1G_Fan 40 points41 points42 points 3 years ago (65 children) | Copy Link

[–]B1G_Fan 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

When marriage is the fastest way to enjoy a woman’s body, there’s plenty of incentive for men to get out of bed in the morning

[–]kireol 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

As someone in their 50's, that changes drastically around age 35 to 40, when your testosterone drops, and women start freaking out because they are well aware of the wall by then.

[–]DavidByron2 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (40 children) | Copy Link

Well since we know women spend the money that men earn, that seems like an accurate word to use economically speaking. In other words the assumption is normally that a person who earns money also spends that money and therefore earning more is a privilege, but this assumption fails if the person who earns the wealth is not the person who spends it. Is there a better word for these economic circumstances?

[–]Despexco1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (8 children) | Copy Link

“Let me describe a thing that isn’t true and isn’t slavery. Tell me how is this thing not slavery?”

Dude, no woman is going to be spending your money with a brain like that because you’re not going to make any.

[–]DavidByron2 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Is there a better word for these economic circumstances?

You answered: no

[–]Despexco1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (6 children) | Copy Link

You mean the circumstances where a man voluntarily gives a woman his money?

Wow, yeah. I guess that is slavery huh! How dare women force men into choosing to give them money? That’s exactly the same as literally owning them and beating them.

[–]DavidByron2 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Is there a better word for these economic circumstances?

You answered: no

What's the word? Give me the word. There's no word and you don't know of any word.

LOL. You're kinda shit at arguing aren't you?

[–]Despexco1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link

The word is capitalism. He’s choosing to pay a woman for her services.

[–]DavidByron2 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Well I'm a communist and we communists invented that word "capitalism" to insult it. But even I don't think capitalism means one person works and the other person gets to spend the money. But I get you're referring to capitalist exploitation, which of course is very close to slavery but one of the differences is that the "owner" in the case of slavery has an incentive to keep the slave alive whereas in capitalism they don't. So I think the case under discussion is closer to the slave case.

But that was a good one I agree.

But only because I know that capitalism and slavery are pretty similar. Were you thinking you were talking to a capitalist supporter? But if I had been then I wouldn't have accepted the idea that capitalist exploitation exists. Well whatever.

OK so you're saying the wife is like the capitalist who exploits the worker of nearly all of their earnings. I got to say I am fairly OK with that description. I just don't think economists would be.

[–]Despexco1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (30 children) | Copy Link

  1. Women don’t just spend the money men earn automatically. Nothing gives a woman that right. If a man chooses to give her that money in exchange for having a stay at home maid, than that’s his choice. Paying someone to live in your house, sleep with you, raise your children, clean up after you, ect is not slavery.

  2. Most women these days earn their own money and spend their own money. If a woman is contributing to the household income, of fucking course she spends some of the household money.

  3. Even if being married gave women the right to steal a man’s money and give him zero benefits, marriage is still voluntary. You know what isn’t voluntary? Slavery.

You know what would be slavery? Men not having the right to work outside the home, own property, or have a bank account without a woman’s permission. Men not being allowed to vote. Men being sold by their mothers to their wives in exchange for property with the expectation that the man never defy his wife, lest he be abused. But for some reason, I don’t remember that shit happening to men, only to women. Hmm…

[–]DavidByron2 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (29 children) | Copy Link

Women don’t just spend the money men earn

Feminists claim they do.

Nothing gives a woman that right

Child support, alimony, taxes paid by men for female benefits....

Most women these days earn their own money

That's not true. Until recently most women in the USA did no paid work of any kind.

of fucking course she spends some of the household money

Not "some" almost all.

marriage is still voluntary

Child support, taxes.

Oh look the feminist parroted some feminist bullshit. Gosh how can I respond?

Men not having the right to work outside the home

This has never been true of women either despite feminist lies.

own property

Same.

or have a bank account

Same.

Men not being allowed to vote

Same.

Men being sold by their mothers to their wives

Same.

Every point you make is a lie. When every argument is a lie it doesn't prove your case, it just proves you're a bigot. Keep talking. Keep showing how much you hate men and are part of a hate movement.

[–]DavidByron2 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Yeah you said it. Do you want me to quote you? You said "here's a bunch of things that would prove men were treated badly like women but of course never happened".

You’re so smart oh great man of the superior male sex

Are you not trans male? or you going with the lesbian label? As a matter of fact men do dominate the higher reaches of the IQ measurements. That happened. I mean that's just a fact.

[–]DavidByron2 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You know what would be slavery? .... Men not being allowed to vote

Which was the case for thousands of years all over the world of course. So the dumbass feminist just admitted almost all men were always slaves.

God you are shit at arguing.

[–]Despexco1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

Okay, yes for most of history most people were slaves.

How are modern men in western countries slaves to women? Please explain oh great smart man.

[–]DavidByron2 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Are you saying women can't vote in modern democracies now?

ETA: oh sorry - you just conceded every single stupid lying point you made and are returning to the original conversation, about how if you earn the money but don't spend it that's the same as slavery in economic terms. OK I get it. maybe re-reply to the original thread then, if you're returning to it.

I believe I just copy and paste where I asked for a better word and you can't think of one. yes?

[–]DavidByron2 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What's really funny is that for a second there you really thought you'd won a point against an MRA didn't you? For just one second your little bigot heart knew the joy of winning a point. Hahahaha. Oh man.

God you people are insane. You probably genuinely forgot that most men throughout history never had a vote or any political power whatsoever. Because of you're insane fucked up "patriarchy" dogma.

[–]DavidByron2 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

ROTFLMAO.... I'm sorry to beat the dead horse on this but you're so funny.

Your outburst of joy over thinking for a second you got a point proves you know all the other statements you made were complete bullshit. It's like you thought to yourself "well I know everything else I said was a lie but it's actually true that women couldn't vote"

LOL, you outed yourself on every other point.

[–]DavidByron2 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]DavidByron2 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Seriously? That's pretty keen for a feminist. I had to check out your posting history. I guess other than the TERF thing and not posting on explicitly anti-male boards you seem pretty feminist. Why aren't you a TERF? I mean I get that you're trans but self-hating kinda goes with the territory. TERFs are ideologically consistent at least. Anyway they don't care about FTM just like a king can always pretend to be a pauper. It's when paupers act like kings that people step in to stop that shit. Feminists hate men, you feel like you're a man (I don't mean anything disparaging by the word "feel" there btw), so why don't you hate yourself?

You should ditch feminism; they ditched you.

[–]Despexco1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

Plus, no one is forcing you to get married or have children, dumbass. The court isn’t pulling random men off the street and forcing them to pay child support for kids that aren’t theirs.

Plus, child support is for your fucking child. It’s used to buy your child clothes and food.

In most marriages, the household income is divided by both parties. That means that both adults in the relationship get some personal spending money. Yes, in old traditional relationships, the woman spent most of the money, but that’s because she was responsible for buying food and supplies for the kids. And yes, I suppose you’re right, necessities like groceries and child care do usually take up most of the household budget.

And I love how you think saying that for most of history women did no paid work helps your case that men are literally slaves. You do realize that cleaning your house and raising your babies was work right? And women did not get paid for their labor, while men did. Hmm… one of those things sounds a lot more like slavery to me.

[–]DavidByron2 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

no one is forcing you to get married or have children

Correction: nobody is forcing YOU. Because the law says you're a woman therefore you have the right to abortion. Men who get raped by women by law, have to pay those women child support or the raped victim (typically a boy) goes to prison.

The court isn’t pulling random men off the street and forcing them to pay child support for kids that aren’t theirs.

I mean depends what you mean by random but surely you know that in court proving you are not the father of a kid means NOTHING to them and you'll be forced to pay CS still? You MUST know that right? have you just never heard this because you're a lesbian so you won't have the chance to hook a man that way?

In most marriages, the household income is divided by both parties

Prove it.

https://www.lexingtonlaw.com/blog/finance/women-spending-habits.html

that’s because she was responsible for buying food and supplies

Like the way the US President has no power because all they do is make decisions about how to do stuff?

I love how you think saying that for most of history women did no paid work helps your case that men are literally slaves

I didn't say that. Motte and Bailey.

And women did not get paid for their labor, while men did. Hmm… one of those things sounds a lot more like slavery to me.

They didn't do labor that they didn't get paid for. They never worked for anyone. You're now saying doing stuff for yourself and your own family is "slavery" if women do it. Woman washes her own teeth? Slavery. Woman dresses herself? Slavery. Woman fixes herself breakfast? Slavery. I don't think you know what "slavery" means.

[–]Despexco1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

For your last point, that’s not what I’m saying at all. I’m not saying “woman brushes her own teeth, slavery”, I’m saying “woman cooks man dinner, spends all day raising children, doesn’t get paid for a full days work, pretty exploitative, closer to slavery than men who work and at least get paid something”.

Also, I support the idea of paper abortions for men to opt out of parenthood at the beginning, no questions asked. And I think the fact that male rape victims are forced to pay child support is appalling. The way I view a man who complains about paying child support for his three kids after divorcing his wife, is very very different than the way I view men who don’t have a choice in becoming parents. Parenthood should never be forced on anyone, but once you’ve accepted the responsibility, you must continue. In my haste to respond, I didn’t consider the cases where parenthood is not a choice.

[–]DavidByron2 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

doesn’t get paid for a full days work

by whom?

There's no outside person who is asking her for a service. She has no employer. No boss. No possibility of being fired. No standards of any kind. No oversight of any kind. That's not a job. If that's seriously seen as a job then I really don't see why brushing your own teeth isn't a job too.

Well it's rare that a feminist supports abortion rights for men.

How do you feel about sex segregated (ie denial of) services for male domestic violence victims? Almost all feminist support that and it's fucking appalling. They kick out even teenaged boys.

[–]Doing_It_In_The_Butt 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Out of curiosity, why do you think married men get paid more?

[–]Qantourisc 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Higher pressure to earn more, and thus make sure they get a better job.

[–]B1G_Fan 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because if a man doesn’t make every dollar that he can, his wife can divorce him and have the family courts force him to work for every dollar that he can

Of course, alimony made a lot more sense when women were barred from the workforce. After all, forcing employers to hire someone, train them, and then allowing those workers to go on a 9 month leave of absence gets expensive. And employers have no choice but to pass those cost onto their customers

[–]Joe_Immortan 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They can afford to devote more time to work because they have more help at home. Also they kind of have to to support a wife and kids. Obviously those are generalizations but the fact is there are more stay at home moms than dads

[–]TAPriceCTR 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

work harder longer hours.

[–]Anxiety_Loop 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Cause if we don't make more money than them they will divorce 90% of the time. It is a similar number if she has a degree and the man does not. Hypergamy is a MF'er

[–]Zenia_neow 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women are still primarily responsible for the household and children. I think it's pretty obvious since most women quit after having children.

[–]AlwaysPetTheBear 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A) they kind of have to

B) when you have support at home, basically taking off some of the burden, you can work longer hours and make more money. Which is exactly why 99% of men have zero issue with a stay at home mom not making any income and supporting her and the child, she is allowing him to make more. Was such a good and fair deal until a select bunch of women decided they should also get extra for it.

Sad part is, most men who are fathers would kill for those roles to be swapped.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Almost as if taking time off to raise children means you earn less? Who woulda thought.

Therefore pushing to eliminate the pay gap is saying you should spend your life a corporate slave rather than raise a family. No wonder the rise in feminism correlates with the rise in corporate billionaires and decrease in birth rates. It's all capitalist propaganda. Ironic they call themselves left wing.

[–]AlwaysPetTheBear 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You some kind of idiot? They didn't say jack shit about women being bad, just did this thing called observing a behavior and pointing it out.

I got news for you, if you read an observation and think it's hate, you have a much bigger issue with the activity being observed than anything else. If you translate an observation as women bad......... you can put 2 and 2 together, I have faith in you!

If I say "men go nuts with sports" that isn't "men bad", if you have a problem with that statement your issue is with the people being observed, male sports fans, not the statement itself.

Gender pay gap

[–]Steaky_B 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is one of the things ill never understand about the system they are preventing men from having families by forcing women into the workplace because of the unaffordable costs of housing and basic necessities whilst women have a hypergamous nature so all it does is makes birth rates drop significantly because to be wealthy enough to attract women means you need to be a millionaire and majority of men cannot reach that level in the economy at the moment which in turn reduces efficiency significantly

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is true for the developed world; in the whole world population is still growing.

But you are pretty on point about the housing prices... it surreal to compare with decades ago and it makes very difficult for families to have only one breadwinner

Local television station has 6 news anchors, 3 men, 3 women. Unintentionally, all 3 woman get pregnant in the same year. Each woman takes off 3 days during their pregnancy for prenatal care, one each trimester. After birth, they each take their allotted 12 weeks off per FMLA. After 12 weeks, each take 4 days off for postnatal care during the year. Total 104 days off for work out of a 248 work days a year that the station has to cover with additional hire or overtime. Each woman has 3 children while working at the station.....well you do the math.

What’s wrong with a woman being childless and unmarried?

[–]AlwaysPetTheBear 23 points24 points25 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Nothing, but it's to highlight how dishonest the "pay gap" stuff is. I mean it's dishonest as hell to anyone who passed HS math and knows the difference between median and mean with how those numbers are effected.

[–][deleted] 45 points46 points47 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nothing... absolutely nothing.

The point the author is making is: the gender gap even favors women if they make choices similar to career oriented men.

He suggested the there is a parenting gap instead of a gender gap. (Men who stay home and take care of kinds are also on the low end of the deal)

And men are more then wallets and protectors. If we abandon the old ways enjoy having none of the privileges being an actual woman came with.

[–]NimblyBimblyMeyow -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

…And the article argues that women do better than men when they’re childless and unmarried. So, what’s your point here?

[–]friendly_raccoon123 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

And yet you still complain

[–]NimblyBimblyMeyow 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I’m not complaining ☠️

I’m responding to his point that we need women to exist to exclusively bear children, but he has since deleted it. My argument is that the article states women do better than men when they don’t have a spouse or child, so him saying women need to bear children and rely on men for protection is not true.

[–]Fearless-File-3625 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Article doesn't state women are better when childless, it states that childless women earn more because of anti male laws vs men who earn solely based on their hard work.

As for women don't need protection, yeah that we all saw that when NDAA was in congress last year. Sorry to burst your bubble but real life doesn't work like marvel movies.

[–]NimblyBimblyMeyow -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Either way, my point still stands. Regardless of why childless and single women do better than their male counterparts, women are better off pursuing a career on their own without men. Meaning; women are perfectly capable of living on their own, and per the article, do better than men in regards to salary when they are alone.

[+]lzzbian94 -8 points-7 points-6 points 3 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link

How did that even come Into this particular discussion? As a woman I don’t need a protector, and I sure as shit don’t want a mans money. I make my own.

But onto what this discussion is actually about. Women being only good for breeding. It’s utter bs. I will never have a child and plan on focusing on my career instead. There’s nothing wrong with that. If anything it’s the smart thing to do in todays economy.

Well it would make sense as to why. Women are less likely nowadays to get married(and it's not a problem) but if a woman does get married and have children she will receive a huge pay–cut compare to the father. Since alot of women aren't getting married—Men too will be affected by this, considering when a het couple has children: Huge pay cut for mom, pay rise for dad. Obviously things like education contributes to this, but we can't ignore marriage rates getting low for women which again not a problem

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Mariage rates getting down only fir women?

Still ... why a group should be better paid only because it can get a pay cut in the future? It does not make an sense.

[–]Chemical_History_103 -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Yes marriage rates are going down and don't alot of Manosphere figures only blame women for that? And btw the pay gap isn't real! And it's hypocritical that mysogynist and MRA's scream this and say that it's "the woman's choice" but would baby men when they earn less.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

What the hell are u talking about Lady?

The point I'm making is that there should not be discrimination based on gender.

People with similar career choices should be able get similar bags. I think most feminists who actually care about equality would agree.

I also don't care if stay-home men or women get less paid than the average person (they are taking care of home) if it works for them. This is a choice.

To be clear: SAME JOB at SAME PROFICIENCY should pay same.

But your argument is: marriage is down ONLY for women (which makes no sense) and they should be preemptively rewarded for that (which makes absolutely no sense).

Apparently you want to justify women getting a bigger bag and has no problem with ignoring logic for that.

[–]Chemical_History_103 -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

No.1 how are you so sure i'm a lady? Second of all my point is that MRA's be not believing in pay gap(which is fair cuz i don't) but then would craddle men if they earn less a dollar. And "SAME JOB at SAME PROFICIENCY" what made you sure that in SOME aspects of a certain career men and women are the same in efficiency? Not to mention based on gender ALONE the gap is 5% so based on that no matter how efficient women are always gonna be paid less.

My "argument" which is more of an insight on how marriage dynamics may cause or contribute to this. Young women being single increases their chances of career success whilst it's the opposite for men. And now here we are in a soviety where women don't wanna get married anymore and that has an affect on men.

I may be wrong about my "marriage dynamic theory" but that is what i am wondering? And currently investing my mind on.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Oh... are u not?

You really have serious interpretation problems...

In many careers men and women DON'T in general have the same proficiency. My claim is that 2 people who have, should be paid same.

Why being married would benefit men in their careers? That's make no sense. High paid men get married because they are high paid - they have plenty of options. It post fact though. Marrying to early is the worse thing you can do for your career as a man. AND for your prospects of finding a high-value woman. Women pic the winners ( And drop them if they become losers).

Yeah ... I get sick wenn men earn less BECAUSE of the narrative around the gender pay gap, which hammers young men with misinformation all time. And I get vocal about it to expose the hypocrisy of the pay gap Narative.

[–]Chemical_History_103 -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Well maybe this article would make sense to you as to why men getting married correlates to more happier and more successful: this

And...

Yes high paid men get high paid because of their wives unpaid labour—yeah

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You now correlation is not causation, don't you?

[–]Chemical_History_103 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

LMAO yeah but we can't deny that marrige contributes to pay raises, and differently affects men and women in het relationships.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How is marriage supposed to contribute to pay rises?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Unpaid labor? Are u talking about women who split the bills 50/50?

I doubt... about men getting well paid because of women. You are delusional. At the same moment men get a family they stop taking chances and stop being willing to move for better positions. This significantly reduces their chances to get promotions or better jobs.

This "theory" of your does not sums up to any thing valuable.

Are you a woman or not?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Chemical_History_103 -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't need to answer the last question. Btw i didn't say/imply women themselves but rather their domestic labour.

Well i literally showed you sources of men getting pay raises for having children/married.

It may not sum up to anything valuable to you but since this conversation evolved to men marrying makes them earn more. Why else do the sources i showed even exist?

And yes i am talking about women who split the bill 50/50 and have a full time job. But still do the majority of household work.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, but.... all in all, they're just another brick in the wall.

[–]Jaguar69X1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (7 children) | Copy Link

That's because the top-earning are already married while the top-earning women are brainwashed to remain single as feminism media convinces them to be a boss babe and that marriage is oppressive.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is more complicated than that

[–]Starski09 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

More like high earning women don't care to date men lower than them, while men are less likely to care about the income their wife makes.

So they remain single because their dating pool is so small and likely become bitter and resentful people that no one cares to be around.

[–]KochiraJin 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think the root cause is people being told there is no differences between men and women. Career advancement makes a man higher value so the same must be true for women. Unfortunately for that theory there are differences in how men and women select their partners. It doesn't reflect reality and results in poor outcomes.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think this is a separate topic about dahingehend preferences.

The point the author is doing is that the primary caretaker of children earns less than the carrier oriented individual regardless of gender. Besides, career oriented women receive more than men who have similar careers' decisions.

I know the author wrote a book on the topic, but I don't know exactly how he explains the situation

My guess is that the push and public pressure for more women in well pay careers make them even more scarce on the market in technical professions (which are scalable).

Women traditionally don't choose technical professionals at the same proportions men do. The more choices they have, the less women opt for STEM professions. So companies and institutions have to pay a premium if they want to fill the quotas and satisfy the public pressure

[–]captainpoppy 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes. Childless men are usually childless and single men arent that way because they've focused on career, whereas a lot of women who tick those two boxes are.

These are generalizations: Think about the childless and single guys in your life? What are their jobs and hobbies for the most part? Probably not things that get them interacting with a lot of people. In general, the things that make guys attractive to people are are attracted to men, also make the employable and likely lead to ambition, and career opportunities.

Yes, it's an issue that there are more and more boys falling further behind starting in elementary school, but this stat shouldnt be surprising.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Cannot say about other guys... I'm Single & Childless by option.

[–]captainpoppy 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, more young women have a university degree and do better academically than their male colleagues- so why shouldn't they be paid more?
