The flip side of being treated like a delicate flower is that girls can either start to internalize this learned helplessness, or they can act out and become as tomboyish as possible to try to break out of that mold and be something.

This is partly why I have the unpopular opinion that I do about trans youth. If I’d been born later, I could absolutely see myself recoiling at the pretty princess shit and having trouble relating to my peers, and concluding that I must in fact be a boy in the wrong body, instead of just…literally not a Barbie.

I don't know, i see some situations which are the total opposite of what you describe here too but are still caused differences in how the genders are raised. I see lots of girls being raised to - be strong, take care of yourself first, don't ever rely on a man to take care of you. Parents go out of their way to teach their daughters to take care of their own finances, and fix their own problems etc. Probably because they assume women are bigger targets for being "weaker". In the mean time they often ignore their boys and they often just take care of issues for them. Its like they just assume they will be able to handle themselves so they never teach them anything. I see all these 20 or 30 something men who act like it's some huge surprise when life gets a little challenging. Like they were raised with blinders on, it's really weird.

Daddy's Little Princess isn't something girls do nothing to merit. Little girls tend to be more affectionate than little boys. And I'm talking at ages which societal expectations/ cultural behaviours would not explain it. I wasn't just Daddy's Princess because that's a cultural thing. At very young ages I was going to snuggle daddy, climbing up on daddy's lap to ask him about his day, running to see daddy when he got home from work, asking for lots of daddy's attention, and wanting to be all over him. Little boys don't do this stuff as much and my father was a very affectionate man towards his sons who wanted to have this same relationship with them. They'd push his hands away, make harumphing noises, squeal or such. And I see this with most fathers and their children. Most mothers experience this with their sons as opposed to their daughters as well.

Women and little girls are more overtly affectionate and social in intuitive manners that seem to be nature even more than nurture. We see it in babies and toddlers even. These aren't age groups which have largely been "societally influenced". It's the classic boys ramming trucks into things while girls have tea parties with their baby dolls.

And yes, this sort of behaviour means people are more likely to be forgiving towards you because you have a built in positive relationship that the harumphing and smashing more socially agressive/ inappropriate ones don't. They're going to get more overt "knock that off" reactions. Girls are going to get more affectionate discipline because there is a more established connection and they're more capable of understanding why something isn't allowed.

And there is a downside you know nothing of. The immense expectations placed on women by both parents to be excessively competent, kind, not show aggression, hostility, anger, or misbehaviour. We're meant to act like a princess in order to deserve that special treatment. Boys will be boys doesn't get us off the hook. Which is in part why you see a more indirect strategy towards making what we want happen. We can't smash to get there, we have to use social cunning so we can smile and be pretty the whole time we take over and get out way.

We can do wrong, it's just not something we're supposed to show or let on. We don't get the luxury of screwing up that boys get. And they know if we get caught, that alone carries a penalty in that it directly attacks us as "good". We're supposed to be presentable at all times.

The fact you mentioning being rude and holding up lines or talking a lot shows that you don't really see what's going on. This is indirect aggression. This is a result of being told we aren't allowed to be directly aggressive or threatening in the way men are. So instead, we waste your time, we drag things on knowing eventually you'll give us our way. We're rude because rude is sort of allowed and shows that we're not pleased. The money thing is just like, I'm confused how that's even a bad thing actually. People forget stuff all the time. Why's that a problem?

Women aren't socially intuitive, there's plenty of women who have zero social awareness. If you aren't taught how to interact with other people, you're going to suck at interacting with them. There's plenty of people out there, both men and women, who have been raised to only think of themselves and that the world revolves around them, other people are just npc-s to help their day go along. Those people tend to be shitty.

Back when I was a kid, there was more of an expectation that little girls be ''proper'' young ladies - don't be too loud, don't bother people, your uncle/grandma/my friend gave you a compliment, now you have to say ''thank you'', etc. Not to say good manners weren't expected of little boys, but a lot of them got away with being louder and ruder and it was written off as ''boys will be boys''.

It also depends on where you're from. I've seen way too many little boys in China be the most insufferable assholes they can be and they just get praise and treats from everyone in the family. I've seen little girls also be treated like little princesses and be complete shits, but there were way more little emperors out there.

Nothing of what you said demonstrates the idea of being socially/emotionally intuitive. Really, all it means is being in tune to people’s emotions, recognizing facial expressions/body language/tones, reading the room to understand the most beneficial way to act. It is a skill. It does not mean you act poorly and expect to get away with it, so I am confused. In my experience, the most emotionally intuitive people in my life have been men who had bad relationships with their mom. For this reason, they developed emotional intelligence, and are very in tune to reading people.

However, on average, women are more emotionally in tune- yes. Studies also demonstrate being more agreeable than men, and they enjoy jobs in caretaking/nurturing positions. This does not mean that every single women will not act like an idiot. We are also more likely to have Borderline Personality Disorder (75% are women), which comes with emotional intelligence and instability. At my best, I have a lot of knowledge and useable intelligence. At my worst, I am overly emotional. Just my thoughts 🤷🏻‍♀️

There is not a single country in the world where parents don't have a preference for sons, no matter how slight. Yes, we look at little boys differently. We look at them like they have worth. Parents and teachers invest more in boys and teach them more skills. There have been studies done on literal babies where people are more positive about the baby and interact more with them when told they're a boy. Women and girls can't get away with shit. Some special (pretty, feminine) girls are treated like princesses and spoiled. More likely, though, they're treated like dirt.

I'm not sure if gendered rates of this behaviour are quantifiable, nor if it's particularly important or interesting.

I unfortunately experienced this too and i'm ashamed that i didn't do anything about it.

About 2 months ago i was on a date with a Romanian chick. She started saying some pretty anti LGBT, anti gay rights, and (funny enough) misogynistic stuff. I said i didn't agree with what she said but if a guy said those same things i probably would have left immediately.

Um yes, there are some women who act like Karen’s and there’s intersectionality between race experiences/issues and gender experiences/issues, but what you said goes against literal science.

Women are more social than men. Female babies have less separation anxiety than male babies. Women tend to have more group thought and are less individualistic than men. Women can identify emotions in faces better than men and can pick up on social cues faster and more accurately.

I think it just depends. A 13 year old girl killed her abuser and pimp and got 15 years in prison whereas white male mass shooters don’t even get the death penalty. Police officers even went to get a mass shooter Burger King after he killed a dozen people becsuse he was hungry.

Time and time again, govt officials have been caught raping female children and not going to jail, thousands of sexual assault accusations, and nothing happens to them at all.

A man suffocated a woman to death and got no jail time because she “liked it rough” and the jury shrugged their shoulders….

Colleges have expelled rape victims, suspended them, moved their classes and don’t even punish rapists. Most of the time, it just gets buried and nothing happens.

My schools president just resigned because she hid over 25+ reports of sexual assault by the same athletic director…they just didn’t deem it important to help women.

It’s happened time and time again and while I do think there is a softness and benevolent side to the stereotypes women have, there’s also this idea that womens safety and bodies and competence is less valuable than mens comfort.

But I think since men don’t experience it and sadly, most often deflect womens experiences to say “not all men” in response to any gender argument, men don’t see how women suffer at all and think our lives are easy and privileged.
