Can anyone find a single company that pays women less? Does Walmart do it? McDonald's? Your local grocery store chain (that only seems to hire women anyway)?

Who needs actual evidence, when we can get the result we want by taking all the money women make dividing it by the number of women and comparing it to all the money men make divided by the number of men? AND BAM on average a woman makes less then a man, there for women are discriminated against. Who gives a shit if salaries differ between jobs? Who gives a shit more men work in high paid jobs? We need women to make as much money as men for the sake of equality not fairness.

Btw I am being sarcastic just in case someone didn't get it :P

I've heard stories about particular cases of a woman being paid less than a man for doing the same job but I've never seen proper evidence. Most of the time, it's "on average". If women cost less than men to employ, employers would prefer to employ them.

Vertical vs horizontal equity

Horizontally speaking, men and women doing the exact same job at the exact same horizontal level are paid almost the exact same wage, this is one of the many achievements by feminism

Vertically speaking, higher position workers are paid a regressively higher salary, as a means of income redistribution, the thing here is that women are not equally distributed on the ladder of job positions, there are more men on higher positions than women

Feminism have tried to equalize vertical inequities by enforcing a quota and suchlike, but women are simply not interested in higher positions of labour

I worked at a law firm where female associates complained about pay disparity.

WE HAD LOCKSTEP PAY! ...So did every other one of the 300 or so largest firms!

Men are judged by their job and and wealth (especially by women) so obviously they would prioritize financial rewards over job satisfaction or work/life balance.

The wage gap proves that women are generally lazy and happy to leech off men.

It's impossibly for any outsider to measure whether people are paid the same for the same work. The value of work is subjective (as is the value of all other goods) and since the employer is the one buying the work, it is he who decides which of two particular labour services is more valuable than the other.

Just as a sidenote on the grocery store thing, I work at a grocery store and there are a lot of women cashiers but a lot of men who do stocking and night crew. So you probably see more women because they are who you deal with the most. But from what I've seen there isn't a hiring bias between men and women, just the men tend to apply for the stocking jobs more and the women tend to apply as cashiers. And as for managers it seems about 50/50 at store level, but more men as district managers at least from what I've seen in my area.

However on another note I did work for a pharmacy that hired women almost exclusively, because they thought the customers would be more comfortable with women as cashiers.

I worked for a fast food restaurant as one of my first jobs and that happened routinely, even in store-level management. That was the 1990s though.
