I looked up the list of photos of the activists killed in Iran. I expected it to be mostly girls/women and a few men, no boys.

I was surprised to find that it was mostly teenage boys and men, with a few women activists too. Soon, that list was no longer circulating on Tumblr/ other feminist circles, and was replaced by a list of only women activists.

Virtually 100% of the deaths in police custody in Iran over the years have been men. Nobody cared until one women collapsed on video while talking with family while in police custody. She was not being beaten by police. The two executed in Iran were both men.

She's a shit actress, Hollywood elite, pontificating from her ivory tower. All her latest films have tanked (the 355 did horrendously at the box office and was universally panned). She's in no position to demand ANYTHING. Perhaps people are more invested in the situation in Ukraine because it has HUGE geopolitical ramifications well beyond the region, whereas the strife in Iran, whilst being important, is a regional level issue. Also the scale is light-years apart. One is of protesters and civil disobedience, the other is open warfare, tens of thousands dead, millions of people displaced, an entire country destroyed and the threat of nuclear confrontation....hardly equal.

I want to talk about Ukraine more, because Iran isnt invading other countries. Is Iran a fucked up place run by unhinged zealotry? Absolutely. But at least its confined to one country. If Russia takes Ukraine, its open season on every country they border, until we have WW3 on our hands.

First of all, the idea that no one wants to talk about Iran is fucking absurd. Tons of people are bringing it up as "proof" that women still have to fight for their rights. Here's something that truly NO ONE wants to talk about though: these "women led protests" she speaks of... who does she think is taking the biggest risks? Who's leading the front? Who are the ones getting attacked? Arrested? KILLED? Oh right... MEN. Overwhelmingly so. The media has made it all about "women's rights", but it actually is barely about that. It's an uprise against an all around oppressive regime. Women's rights are part of that, but to suggest it's "only" about that and that "women" are fighting on the front lines is fucking absurd.

And to say it's comparable to Ukraine, which is a LITERAL WAR that is capabale of starting world war is beyond moronic. I cannot believe someone can be that stupid. Yes, what happens in Iran is tragic but nowhere near as awful as what's happening in Ukraine and the rammifications of that. There is a serious chance that WW3 is going to break out, in which case (despite the fact that we don't have drafting at first glance, the actual law is simply "put on hold", meaning it can be re-activated whenerer they deem it necesarry), I will almost certainly be drafted. My COUNTRY and loads of other countries around me (Western Europe) will have to fight.
