This was certainly my mother's plan and was vocal about it. Married 3x, divorced 3x. On husband #3 she vocally disclosed she was marrying him for his Navy pension. No shame. While also being vocal about how annoying he was, openly stating their incompatibility. She now lives in a trailer in FL. Good job Mom!

If I remember correctly, the spouse, for example the wife, can collect Social Security using their husband's Social Security Number even if the wife never worked. I'm guessing she can't do this before he dies. If both the husband and wife worked and the wife had a minimum wage job and the husband earned piles of money, when they both retire the wife's Social Security check will be much smaller than his. But when the husband dies she can then switch and collect the higher Social Security payments using his Social Security Number.

I don't remember if the husband had to make higher Social Security payments in order for his wife to later collect. (Our pension fund where I worked did require the husband to pay extra in order for his wife to collect from the pension fund when the husband died.)

I'm using the more typical case of the husband making more than the wife but the reverse is also true with Social Security.

I have a few questions.

1) Retiring from what job, exactly? What job are women supposedly doing where they don't pay into social security and can be paid retirement money when they retire, and have to be paid directly by a husband at the end?

2) Don't women pay into social security and other taxes so a portion of them can be used to pay their retirements and oh nevermind, men as an aggregate are net taxpayers (i.e. they pay more in taxes than they get back out of it) while women as an aggregate are net taxpayer beneficiaries (i.e. they get more benefits in taxes than what they spend on them), nevermind, scratch that question two, and ask the real question 2...

2) the actual question two edition, are unmarried men the beneficiaries of a strange tax break loophole that they need to not marry to benefit from? Since as long as they pay taxes, men will subsidize women's retirement funds (in addition to all other taxpayer benefits), the only way this works at all is if unmarried men somehow pay less taxes than married men, which... Is it true? Honest question.

3) Why should men be expected to pay women their retirement funds? Especially when men don't even have the right to escape abusive marriages/relationships, or even just to defend themselves against, or even just run away from physical/sexual assault when they're committed by women? Last thing I want to do with my money is pay money to someone whom is allowed by law to beat/rape me. In fact, I willingly pay money every month to a handful of women whom publicly advocate that I should have the right to fight back or even run away from abuse, so for all the women out there whom feel upset at the fact I'm apparently denying you your retirement fund by refusing to marry (and I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that you're not just talking shit about that) how about before you shame me for being unwilling to pay for your retirement, you tell me what you did for me to deserve my money? The Badgers did do something to deserve the money I send them monthly, what did you do that makes you think you deserve it more than them?

Well shit.. Women taught me not to feel much compassion for dateless men (which I used to be), and now I'm incapable of empathy towards women who can't jump onto the marriage train, much too late, and when they've lived a life that's absolutely incompatible to marriage, up until that point.

The only women I feel truly sorry for are those who buried themselves completely in studies and career and didn't have much at all in the ways of social life and relationships. They were lied to, and they remind me of men that were lied to in a similar way.

I hope those men and women find each other at least, count their respective losses and makes the most of the time they have.

I've had this argument with my current girlfriend. But the question I ask, is what if she's a SAHM and doesn't earn money but raises your kids? She should deserve some sort of support for that. Because she took time that could have been working and saving money to allow you to work and save the money.
