We unfortunately live in a world where love is transactional (at least in "romantic" relationships), to the point where even from the first date people are already expecting things from each other, like women expecting men to pay for dates, and men expecting women to sleep with them because they paid. This transactional approach to relationships is why so many people are unhappy in their relationships.

The best form of love is when you don't want or expect anything from the other person, this is what unconditional love is. We have somehow lost sight of the most genuine form of love, which doesn't require anything in return. Imagine if whoever you're attracted to at the moment came to you and told you that they love you, but they don't want anything from you. Wouldn't that make you appreciate them even more? Generally people always want something from you when they say they love you. Either your body, sex, your money or whatever.

Without attaching expectations to love, you'll never be disappointed because expectations are what cause disappointments in relationships.
