There is a myth, that men want sex much more than women.

Looking at men and women in established relationships, there is close to 50/50 men and women complaining about lack of sex. Just check subs like DeadBedroom.

There is a popular Russian saying:

When I was a girl, they taught me to be wary of men, because they all need 'just one thing'.

Now I'm married and I know that men need to sleep, eat and play tanks (popular online game), while it is me, who needs 'just one thing'

Why there is still a perceived difference in desire of sex by women and men?

  • There are hypocricy and double standards regarding so called bodycount and virginity. Women are supposed to keep virginity or limited number of partners.
  • Women face more risks in case of casual sex (e.g. what if he is a rapist?). Difference in physical strength is a factor.
  • Women more often want sex only with SO, whom they trust, rather than a random hot guy.
  • There is stigma for virgin and lonely men. It is automatically assumed they are creeps, misogynists or closeted gays et.c. Value of sex for men is inflated artificially - men must have a partner to prove their worth.
  • Withholding sex and using it is a trading token in relationships - requires some women to pretend they don't need sex and only give it as a reward.

So while both women and men have on average same libido, there are social reasons for the percieved gap between men and women interest in sex
