I believe that this attitude is fundamentally incompatible with a genuinely pro-male outlook. A husband "leading" a household is, all too often, simply a euphemism for a husband offering up his income to appease his wife, who gets to enjoy a life of leisure on his dime.

I see this as a microcosm of a more general fact about the gender dynamics we face. All around us, we see a social norm that demands men sacrifice themselves for women's sake, be it as small as paying for dates or as large as throwing away your life to fight in a war. This demand, that I should throw away everything to benefit a class of people no less capable than you or I, but who have learned to weaponize the appearance of helplessness-- This is what I fight against. Not to perpetuate some idea of what men and women should be, but to help actual, flesh-and-blood men in the real world live their best lives.

I vote left because practically all of my core beliefs are pretty far left. I’m not willing to support a party that goes entirely against those beliefs just because they may be slightly less harmful to mens rights. I haven’t seen anything from the right helping men either, just hurting them in different ways.

I'm probably not exactly who you're directing this question towards since I don't vote along party lines when I do vote, but I'll take a wack at answering it. Unfortunately we don't have the luxury of getting to vote for people who perfectly represent us, and regardless of whether they're right or left wing no politicians seem to be running on a pro male platform, or have pushed through any pro male legislation. We have to chose between the mainstream left which is openly hostile to men at times, and the mainstream right which will play lip service to being pro male ocasionally to try to win votes but when given an opportunity will throw men under the bus just as hard as the mainstream left. If I was a single issue voter who only cared about mens issues I just wouldn't vote at all, instead I pick from the list of options the least evil politician or if there are no least evil options I abstain from voting.

Considering the fact I agree with a great deal of what the left says and absolutely NONE of what the right has to says I can vote with them. Just like Men, feminism isn't monolithic. There is a difference between knowing the person in front of me WILL try to kill me, and the person to my side might try to.

Honestly I never had a big emphasis on big government either, it feels like every problem, they try and ‘fix’, which ends up making it worse. The political left typically prefers bigger government and more government spending, while on the right they want smaller government and people to be more free.

This right here is horse shit, the right wants big government in terms of private life regulation such as abortion, contraception and human rights. They want so many rules and so much control of you life that isn't small, and it isn't about freedom. Ask yourself what is the role of government? For me it is to ensure a high quality of life, personal freedoms, protection from enemies that want to end that freedom and quality, as well as help spread that to others. In short I want a government that is focused on allowing people to have life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

That means, ensuring a free no cost education, free access to knowledge, not having to choose between a house to live in or your life, not having to take a low wage job because society doesn't care about you disability. In order to be free to you have to be able to not be condemned for consequences that are NOT our fault!

Why would a group want less government? less people out there to ensure our water isn't getting polluted, that they aren't dumping toxic waste in playgrounds, EVERY rule/law is written in blood. You know who would love less police? Criminals, so who do you think would be the biggest advocates for defunding the IRS like the right wants to do?

My wife works, and she is a stay at home mom. I have a partner, I don't want someone submissive I want a partner because we are a team and that means letting me know when I mess up. There are people that want what you want, want what I have, and want it the opposite, let them, THAT is freedom. Forcing people into roles they don't want is authoritarian, not freedom.

I actually voted for the Green Party in the last Canadian federal election, and they're basically a centrist party these days, officially rejecting the left-right dichotomy. That was, however, mostly a protest vote. To answer your question, I haven't voted for a nominally left-wing party for a while now. I've grown disillusioned with all the major political parties in this country, though that has little to do with men's issues. As others have pointed out, neither the left nor the right are good on those issues, and if that's all you care about, you wouldn't vote at all.

Here I think is the crux of the issue. Most MRAs are very explicit in rejecting traditional values, especially those that regard men are disposable. This goes right back to Warren Farrell's The Myth of Male Power, the so-called bible of the men's rights movement, which explicitly called for a gender liberation movement that rejected traditional gender roles for both sexes. His quarrel with feminism was not because he was pro-tradition, but rather because he felt that feminists were only pushing for gender liberation for women and not men.

I think there are two different political beliefs which are both called "the left". One is identity politics - the idea that by preferencing certain disadvantaged groups socially, legally and economically, we can create a more equal society. The other is the more old school left which wants government to tax mega corporations at a much higher rate and use that revenue to build a secure safety net for working class people.

Personally, I support the second idea, and always have. But I find identity politics mistaken and repugnant. This does leave me feeling politically homeless, as it seems the political left has swung behind identity politics and moved far away from the old school left.

It's mainly because I usually disagree with rightwingers on aspects not related to gender issues. For example where I live, the only right-wing options are 1)a racist extreme right party, 2) a deeply nationalist party which is lobbied by corporations and 3) a party that centers around entrepreneurs but has completely abandoned its own philosophy in favour of opportunism.

This means I'm essentially politically homeless, because the left-wing parties all ingage in identify politics that demonize men except the communist party. But I can't vote for them either because I don't believe communism can work, and they keep making excuses for ex-communist countries committing atrocities.

While I dislike the misandry sometimes found on the left, I am opposed to almost everything the right stands for. I am radical left on just about every issue except for feminism. I considered myself feminist from about mid-teens to mid-thirties (I'm now 40). Since abandoning feminism, I find I can no longer associate with modern leftist social spaces, because of the ubiquitous raging misandry. But that misandry was not so prominent among the left 10+ years ago.

At the same time, the left has changed over the last 10 years, and I don't like where it's gone. I feel like the world lost its mind for the second time in my life (the first being 9/11). The modern left has become reactionary and authoritarian, and frankly not what I consider leftist at all.

I am leftist because I am anti-bigotry, anti-authoritarian, anti-war, environmentalist, anti-capitalist, and secular. I'm an anarchist, and 100% about maximizing self-determination and freedom. I believe whole-heartedly in the principle that my freedom only ends where another person's begins.

Things have flipped in a weird way over the last several years, but for most of my life, it has been the conservative side of politics that has pushed mass surveillance, war, police militarization and brutality, overbearing government that gets involved in your personal life, etc. My young adulthood was the 2000's, when neocons were absolutely dominant and their primary interests were war for profit and mass surveillance. Conservative politicians are still mostly like this, even if the conservative voting base has flipped on some of these things some of the time. Conservative politicians have only changed their talk in response, but will still mostly do the same things. Christian theocracy is still a strong movement on the conservative side of USA politics, which would make it law that I live according to Christian beliefs. Not very freedom. I'm not Christian, and everyone's religious beliefs should be their own private business. Conservatives push for weaker government, but this only means government more easily captured by wealthy interests, and ultimately our lives being ruled over by wealth even more overbearingly. The absolutely most totalitarian environment is the workplace, where every aspect of how you dress, how you speak, and even down to how you walk is subject to control by your employer. Under conservative leadership, employers can fire you for any or no reason and pay you the bare minimum they can get away with, so that you can never save money, missing a single paycheck can mean homelessness, there's no social programs to help you survive until you get another job, and your employer can monitor you to be aware when you're even looking and fire you in response just out of spite. Very not freedom. You complain about taxes, but conservatives only cut taxes for the wealthy, and make the poor pay a larger share... because ultimately, they represent the rich and only pay populist lip-service to the poor.

I have zero belief in traditional values. I want any woman I'm in a relationship with to be my equal partner. There is zero intrinsic quality to my maleness that should make me the leader of the pairing, or to her femaleness that should make her submissive to me. I abandoned feminism, because the raging misandry character arc of the left in recent years + the destruction of my own family brought it to my attention that feminism has not been about equality for a long time. Not because I think the origin of women is a man's rib, therefor they should obey me. But while feminism is a very dominant force on the left right now, it is only a small part of what separates the left from the right. It would be silly to abandon 90% of my political interests and align myself with people that I disagree with on almost everything, just because of one exceptional topic.

But I should also say that I absolutely hate Democrats. They have never represented me, and I mostly don't vote for them. I think representative democracy only works if people vote for candidates who actually represent them, and Democrats do not represent me. So I mostly don't vote.

Not all of us are christians and many of us don’t want to have christian rules enforced on us or others. Some of us are gay or trans and have reason to be distrustful of conservative politics. Some of us belong to minority ethnic groups that don’t want to have to play token or scapegoat. Some of us have been abused, sexually assaulted, or raped and know how conservatives treat men who have experienced any of those. Because not all of us fit in or want what you think is natural for all men, and just want the freedom to make that choice ourselves. Because many of us are pro social nets and giving aid, while many conservatives live by bootstraps mentality that leaves the mentally ill, homeless, and disabled helpless (many of whom are men). Because many of us are against forcing men into a box of what our role is, whether that box be to die in wars or be feminist allies with no complaints. Because many of us, even if we aren’t feminists, still want women to have the freedom to choose if they want to work, have families, have careers, stay at home, or get married, rather than be forced into a role determined the only one all of them can find fulfillment in. I'm a Libertarian Socialist, specifically a Mutualist. Your definition of Socialism sucks. Socialism is purely any economic system where workers own the means of production. In Mutualism, that means worker cooperatives with. What you are describing sounds closer to neoliberalism. While I despise what the modern mainstream left has become there is no way I could support a party that has literally become a cult. There is no way I would vote for a party that constantly denies and twists reality to fit their narrative.

But let's just talk policy in the most simplistic way possible. First of all I'm first and foremost a Socialist. The right pretends to but doesn't care about the "average Joe", just because I'm doing well for myself now it doesn't mean I forgot what it's like to struggle. The right hates the poor (I have interacted with enough right wing people to know that's the case and if not they at least feel like they deserve to be poor).

Apart from the trans sports stuff I fully support the LGBT, but as a gender abolitionist I do have some reservations about the more than two genders bit.

It's borderline retarded to deny climate change at this point.

Apart from the 1% of the 1% I don't see any of my fellow human beings as the enemy or someone who is taking things away from me.

I believe that with the right economic and social policies most of the issues that plague men and women today would slowly fade. Obviously it will take time and there is no such thing as a perfect society, but we can definitely fight for something better than this.

By the way the political discourse has turned tribal in the last decade and leftists get just as much hate thrown at them when attempting to discourse. While I do hate what the left has turned into I can't deny that I despise the right even more, there are plenty of fascistic tendencies within the western right and, especially in America but even in my own country, there is no space for discourse with the amount of vitriol coming from your side. I mean they have AOC you guys have Boebert and MTG for fuck's sake.

The right may seem to care more about men's rights but ultimately does not provide an effect is solution to the issue and tbh just harms men and ofcouse women, after all, communities like the red pill or the followers of Andrew Tate came from a Conservative position, but quite often serve as a gateway to the alt-right pipeline.

I'm not going to suddenly start thinking socialism is bad or support politics that harm other groups of people just because the left falls short when it comes to men's issues.

Aside from this, my personal definition of supporting men's rights doesn't mean blaming every single men-related problems on women's rights which the right wingers do. I support almost every single, if not all, progressive (not far-left tho) ideas. So with these few alone, there's already a huge conflict between me and your rightists and we haven't even delved into other areas like LGBTQ rights, religious influences in the state, women's rights, etc.

Not true in modern American politics. It's more accurate to say that the Republicans support large corporate interests and the Democrats support small corporate interests. Both have been responsible for increasing the size of the government ever since the Reagan era, and neither are particularly interested in individual freedoms except for those particular special interest groups they want to promote.

That's not what socialism is; it's closer to totalitarianism/dictatorship.

Also, I'm a feminist -- I believe women should be able to choose their own life paths -- and I'm definitely not a socialist (even when the word is used correctly). I am a distributist, which is a concept but which tends to align a little closer with the political left than with the political right.

Distributism indicates that capital should be widely owned via trade guilds, small businesses, etc., rather than concentrated in the hands of a few large corporations -- it is diametrically opposed to the right-wing support of corporate "personhood." It also walks hand-in-hand with subsdiarity, which is the idea that political issues should be handled at the lowest level of government possible...but which accepts that some things need to be handled at the national level, mostly due to economies of scale and similar.

Painting all feminists with a broad brush like this, is like saying that all men are closet rapists. It's also about as true.

It has been my experience that most men who want their wives to be "feminine and submissive" actually want to control their households like dictators and/or treat their wives like children. That may be traditional, but it's certainly not Biblical. Read Proverbs 31 -- that woman is basically owning and operating a small business and she isn't going to be dictated to by anyone, male or female.

Men who aren't willing to give up their very lives for their wives don't deserve submission. Remember that the model for Christian manhood is Jesus, who willingly allowed himself to be tortured to death (crucifixion is neither fast nor painless nor pretty) despite being innocent, for the sake of his church.

The feminist position is that women should always be allowed to choose to be stay-at-home mothers but that they should never be required or assumed to be such. I know one lovely and very traditional couple where the wife's income potential is something like 5x the husband's. She works, he stays home with the kids. Do you really think that emasculates him? Taxes are also not what's primarily causing the trend toward "needing" two incomes. That would be "keeping up with the Joneses." It's perfectly possible to raise a family on one income if you're willing to accept that it means economic sacrifices. There are families who do that all the time. Of course, most of the women are Proverbs 31 types....

I vote left due to various economic policies that I prefer. Here in the UK I think Laibour has a better plan on immigrant, the NHS and getting a better EU deal. I wouldn't label myself left or right though,if the tories got their act together I would be ok with them. I understand for Americans it's different, some of your republicans can be far right but I'm really not familiar enough with American people to not like them if they vote for Trump for example, it's more about the character. Over here I guess I might be cautious of you if you were or reform UK voter or you were extreme the other way and voted ... Green Party or something but even then it doesn't have to define you. Between tories, Laibour and Lib Dem (our big 3) I don't really care who you vote for. I don't like many of the people in the current tory government but some of my family would vote tory and aside from some differences we typically agree on a lot of things too.

As far as men's rights go I'm more of an egallitarians. I support women's rights too I just don't believe in the messaging third and fourth wave feminism puts out. Feminism isn't the enemy but the far left have radicalised third and fourth wave feminism and its quite dangerous to men and women. I don't believe in a patriarchy, or that men are private and women are opressed and I don't like how modern feminists would rather invalidate bad experiences men have had with women so they can keep pushing their "men are the problem" narrative. Nor do I like how modern radicalised feminists attack women that challenge them. Ever heard the term pick me? It's actually a highly misogynistic thing to call a woman when you really think about it but that's what modern (usually young milenial and gen z but not exclusively) feminists will call a woman that either challenges a point they make or calls out hypocrites and double standards they display. What I do believe is that both men and women hwbe certain disadvantages over the other in certain areas, it's not really a patriarchy or male privilege it's simply inequalities both have to deal with. The majority of women's bad experiences comes from men, and the majority of men's bad experiences come from women. Modern feminists can't acknowledge that because it destroys their narrative of men being THE problem

Because my ideals happen to fall on the left. And that includes mens rights issues.

I always vite 3rd party anyways, but left 3rd party. Mental health and workers rights problems firmly land in the left wing category. Just because there are a handful of people from the left who would dissown me for being a man and prioritising issues that affect me, that doesn't mean im going to start voting against my own interests

I like this space a lot and feel like we honestly shouldn’t care about politic labels. Men and women shouldn’t be divided by political ideology that’s freaking absurd.

My take is that the subs name originally was trying to scare away hardcore women hating redpill.

I used to vote left, because weighing all policies together, left was better.

But I'm done with this BS now, I get to the poll and I strike a line through all the circles, thus cancelling my vote and voicing my dissatisfaction with all the parties!

There's the Democratic party "left", and then there is the ideological left. I'm leftwing when it comes to ideology, but "centrist" when it comes to partisan politics. I normally vote 3rd party.
