20 years together. 12 married. Two young kids. We were the model couple. Not perfect but pretty solid within our network. She asked for divorce in September to "be alone and find peace". I found out in October she had an ongoing affair and had been lying to me and everyone by denying any of it. She discarded me so coldly once she was able to monkey branch into new guy.

The truth is I wasn't even that happy with her in the last few years. She's a person that can be hurtful but doesn't take responsibility. When you react to her, she focused all the blame on your reaction and not her initial action.

But we had a really good family life with the two young kids. We did everything together. And the kids love spending time with all of us together. We haven't told them yet about the split but you can tell they don't like how we individually go out now.

I was ready to go the distance with her and for the family, but she pulled the plug.

Why with the betrayal and lies and callous treatment am I not angry enough to just walk away and not look back? Why do I still miss the old her when she wasn't even that good in all honesty? Why am I still wondering about all the ways I could have better?

Why am I not thrilled that she did me a favor and gave me an early release from the life sentence I had with her?
