20 years together. Two young children. She asked for divorce a month ago so "she could be herself and happier" but there was emotional betrayal I've discovered near the end. Something she will never admit to because he's so much younger and it's too damaging to her reputation.

She's trying to be kind during separation. She has always been a kind person to everyone. But it's as if she thinks kindness is a way for making up for the hurt she's causing me in nuking our family and future.

At this point, I don't think I could ever trust her again unless she fully owned up to what she did. Something she will likely never do.

So then my question is, how can we be friends after divorce if there's no baseline trust? The flip side is, isn't it better for the kids' long term happiness if mom and dad are actually friendly? Right now, I just see myself being cordial and keeping things to a minimum going forward. But I know something will be lost for the kids if that's my attitude. Any thoughts from guys that have been betrayed but still coparent in how they approach the ex long term and how it affects the kids long term? (Imagine a woman asking about these long term viewpoints 😂🤡)
