20 years together. 12 married. 4 and 6 year old kids. 8 weeks ago, she asked for divorce but ended up doing separation. I find out she's actually in an ongoing affair.

I love my kids to death. So fulfilling. And we have a great loving relationship.

But this single parent life is not what I signed up for when we got married and had kids. The plan (as most of you probably felt) was to raise them together, and watch them bring their own kids home one day. That was my dream.

There's some days where it's kinda lonely watching the kids all alone. I try to distract by taking them out to have fun and explore. But this was supposed to be a team effort. Supposed to be able to lean on a partner so we can have individual time with each kid. And trade off and so forth.

I miss having adult conversations while with the kids. Someone to share excitement about the kids. Joint investment in the kids.

I know I'll have half the week to myself to pursue my freedom and interests. But man, single fatherhood when they're so young is not what I had pictured for myself. I'm still so mad at my stbx for making the most self centered destructive decision of our lives and blowing up our family so she can chase attention.
