6 years ago as I was going through the end of my marriage I came here for support. I wanted to share what things are like 6 years later.

My ex had an affair. I asked her to stop and see if we could work through it. She said no, so I left her and filed for divorce. We shared a 2 year old son at the time.

The first few years were filled with anger, pain, and generally being unable to co-parent well. I didn't want to see her or be around her. She caused me a lot of pain.

6 years on, our child is in the 3rd grade. After some time she sincerely apologized to me. Since then we've managed to build an effective co-parenting relationship. We have something resembling a cordial friendship and we work together on all things regarding our son.

I have not remarried, I have been in a few relationships, but I'm honestly still working through some things. I don't currently see marriage in my future.

This so much better than how I felt 6 years ago. It gets better, gents. Time may not heal the wounds, but they'll bug you a lot less. Hang in there. You can do this, and things will get better for having done it.
