My STBX is insane. Her counter offer was so unrealistic the mediator apologized to me and wished me luck at the end of our time. My wife's lawyer is clearly trying to work up her billable hours, because she's not helping at all according to the mediator. Sucks but I'm not surprised mediation would not work out.

The ultimate dealbreaker is that as part of settlement she wants me to return things she inherited from her father, but I do not have them, and never did. I'm not going to agree to do something literally impossible to do. She's a hoarder and now she's losing stuff.

She also wants me to take out life insurance and name her the beneficiary. I have a 'free' $10k policy as a benefit from my work that is intended to cover funeral and burial costs; she wants me to get a policy worth $450k. Probably would cost $1000/month, if I can get one at all (I'm 54 and had a stroke last year).

Fucking insane.

So I'm going to trial. I'm confident the judge will not decide in her favor on these things and many others. Wish me luck!
