This will be a unique post because I've never been married. In fact, I've never been in love. But I need advice on if it is worth it. (Granted I'm in a divorce forum and the population of men here might skew towards being jaded and cynical), so I'm aware there might be a selection bias.

I'm part of the increasingly growing contingent of young men who are constantly evaluating the ROI on marriage and if it's worth it. I don't know if you are aware, but a lot of us are "lying flat" and checking out. Essentially, we are saying it's not worth it. We know what's out there and we choosing video games and porn basically haha.

Stats
Mid-20s, educated, work in STEM. I have decent face and in good shape (bench-300, deadlift-405), 150k+ income, and no debt.

Background
I'm a child of divorce, mom got remarried, and dad is now on his 3rd marriage. It happened when I was young. Effectively I was raised by a single mother; she was both my mother and father. The consequence was I grew up passive, afraid of taking risks, and pretty much was very reactive. It wasn't until I went down the rabbit hole did I pull myself up, worked on my fitness and my education and maximized those areas.

Body
I want to know if this feeling of longing for "LoVvveE" is worth it. I do have experience with girls, but I always ended it quickly when the tests and the games started intensifying. But I have noticed that I enter a period of limerence when the thoughts come in about fantasizing about being a couple with someone else and doing life together. But then I snap out of it when my dad calls me and complains about his current wife. I asked him why is he staying, but his bravado kicks in and says he will, but things never change.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that once you are in love or at least have someone in your life, it appears it affects your neural chemistry to the point that you start developing feelings of dependency on someone needing to be there and whatever else. As a man, I know that when I invest my time, money, and energy into something, I feel like I've built equity into something. But if that investment goes away, I become hurt. But when it comes to people, it feels like betrayal. Those thoughts become a permanent companion and don't go away... UNLESS!
Unless you find someone else, and that whole cycle starts over again like it did for my dad. And then you have this perpetual desire for unfreedom I call it.
All of this being said, I have not awaken that desire to love someone and be loved, and I haven't taken that leap off my platform of reluctance because I'm not sure I want to go on this endless streak of desiring a companion and then another companion to replace that one when it doesn't work out. I don't want to live in a perpetual state of need for female validation and female company, when it feels like she doesn't even like me and is thinking of someone else when the mystery of me becomes discovered and the tingles subside. I don't want to feel like I can lose something so easy when I give her the "ick" whether that's crying when a loved one dies or showing weakness in a situation that requires me to prioritize self-preservation over looking like an unflappable champ.

Concluding Thoughts
If you made it this far, thanks for reading. Your initial thought might be that I'm overthinking, but when you see what you gave up in your relationships and your divorces, you might consider that my thoughts and concerns are legitimate. As of right now, I haven't effectively and functionally went all-in on a commitment with a woman bc I have doubts if I want to get on this roller coaster of love.

If you had to do it all over again, would you hop on that ride? I predict a lot of your responses will be yes bc I got my kids out of it. But is it really worth the sacrifice of knowing that the person whose life you now finance and who you incentivized to break that contract with you before God is all for naught?

Please give me your thoughts if you feel passionate about trying to protect other men from making the same mistakes.
