Why the hell would I not want to actually have women make the 1st move and have the option to do it myself if I see a woman im particularly into.

In my experience they are usually the ones that make the 1st move in having the "what are we" talk anyways.

I'd prefer if it was just equally as common for either gender to make the first move, I guess. I wouldn't just trade places though. I like making the first move. I like the thrill. I like that it's forced me to gain confidence.

And for what its worth, I don't blame anyone for being a complete hoe for a while. I absolutely would too.

If it was merely turning the situation on its head, look no further than reading of the w4w posts that we sometimes see here. While men would probably have a sudden boom in self-worth and actualization and security if their partners were putting in the legwork, women would not enjoy this situation at all.

I wouldn't want them to either, the despair hole that is being a man, or specifically, an undesirable/unneccesiary man, is a chunk of the cause of the male suicide-of-desperation crisis, but nobody has a solution for it that doesn't also fuck over women in some way.

I guess what you're asking is, would you trade places with an attractive woman in the dating game. And on that part... no, probably not. I don't like the idea of being commodified, of being prey, something to be fought over and won.

Being an attractive man is still the best possible set of circumstances, all the power with much less of the drawbacks.

If you really want to play the dating game at the most fun and highest levels, you have to be a guy. It is so incredibly satisfying to get a girl all over you that you just meet. It’s so fun to show up and have a hot girl across from you.

Extremely hot girls, to cute, to average seem to partially enjoy dating. I’ve met girls that get excited over some guy. The dating aspect is not even a game to them, it’s way to easy to be a game, it would be like trying to enjoy a game that’s just a walkthrough.

I guess it would be difficult to manage getting proposals from different people at the same time. How to deal with the ones that I don't like? How to deal with the ones I like but can't stand eachother? How to deal with the ones that don't accept rejection just like that?

In general I think it would benefit me, but it would be a headache. Probably so bothersome that I would try to find a new date quickly, and then retreat from social environments to enjoy my meal... I mean, girlfriend

Even if I got no additional options, one of the worst risks that can happen to a woman while dating (rape) has already happened to me, and I feel if I was a woman I'd be better aware and prepared for that.

We teach women to be safe from this but not men, and I'd happily trade all the "institutional knowledge" of women staying safe with men over some extra muscle mass that didn't help anyway. What grandmothers tell mothers tell daughters what women tell each other etc.

More specifically I do not feel like masculine strength is that much of a protection: a lot of self-defense is situational awareness that anyone can learn and if you get into a fight things have already gone terribly wrong. Even trained soldiers can freeze in combat; a civilian taken by surprise won't be as brave or decisive and all your muscle mass can end up being quite useless.

I also found the decision calculus of an actual violent crime to be a bit paradoxical. Rape is a "violent" crime, but sex, even forced sex, isn't immediately physically harmful the way a murder or non-sexual assault is, so "defending" yourself from sexual "violence" could mean starting a life-or-death fight when your rapist could just as well take a few more minutes to finish and then let you leave. It's weird to say that you "let" something bad happen to you, but even suffering hours of pain and discomfort for no lasting physical injury is a tradeoff that pays off in orders of magnitude if it's what lets me live the remaining decades of my life.

On the other hand, if someone pulls a gun on you and starts shooting there's no need to worry about escalating since the life-or-death battle has already begun and you have nothing more to lose by fighting back.

The extra masculine strength of men is also a lot harder to deploy if you don't know when to deploy it, and how much.

It's a lot like the "Salami Tactics" scene from Yes, Prime Minister. Yes, we will launch nuclear weapons if the Soviets "invade" Western Europe, but what exactly is an invasion? Launching nuclear weapons isn't worth preventing the Soviets from sending some policemen across the border, but once you've decided that, what more can they do? Okay, you don't want to end the world if a squad trespasses into West Berlin, but once even military incursions become acceptable what's the line? What point is the last resort?

It's the same with sexual assault. If someone angrily shouts at you that they want your underwear, are you really going to start a fight over a $3 pair of Hanes? Exactly how many "just one more" kisses before you get to leave does someone have to demand before you decide that violence is the only way out? How many times do you have to say "No", how badly do they have to take your refusals, before it crosses the line from "bad date with pushy and rude person" to "They really don't care about consent and I need to escape from an actually dangerous person." Even if you're a heavyweight MMA fighter who can win any fight, you still need to make the right call in starting one to get out of trouble.

If evolutionary psychology is something you give credit to, then you'd respect that the fawn/flop/freeze responses exist for a reason. We don't always fight because some of our ancestors who always fought didn't always win.

I mean, in the sense that I wish it were easier to get sex, then sure.

But I'm not sure it'd be worth it to have to put up with the massive amount of awful shit that women have to put up with in the meantime, though.

As a guy who considers myself relatively normal, sometimes I have to remind myself of how mentally deranged a lot of men are, and that women's experiences are often tainted with a lot of terrible, freakish nonsense that I'd hate to put up with.

I've had ex-girlfriends who had their ex-boyfriends stalk them, for months on end. I've been friends with girls who have had dick pics sent to them, randomly, multiple times. Not to mention, all of the incredibly cringey and downright vile approaches that they get, not only in public spaces where it makes no sense to approach, but the even worse shit that they're sent in DM's online, from fat, low-iq, stinky, grapey old men who sound like they hardly speak English.
