Most positive thing for me so far is I can go on weekend long motorcycle rides and no one is asking me when I will be home. Just ride until I want to go home! Its sooooo nice! I almost messed up and got into a relationship and quickly realized I needed my time back! Lol

That's the reason why I plan not to marry again.

My time is mine to spent. It's not borrowed, it's not owed to someone; I am free to do with it as I see fit. Watch golf. Read a book. Fix whatever I need to fix or leave it broken.

This post is underrated! I golfed in the morning, watched golf in the afternoon, and fired up the grill at night. Guess what? No one asked me to fix a damn thing. No one bitched about the food. No one made me feel guilty for doing what I want for a change.

We have 3 kids...

It caused alot of trauma. Alot of therapy.

She would've kept dragging me down though...

Everyone says she don't deserve who I am and everything im working towards right now because she would've ruined it and kept bringing me down.

As much as it hurts I think there's alot of good thats came out of this divorce....

Even if its hard to admit.

Not feeling guilty for doing things I enjoy that my ex hated is so nice. Watching Pittsburgh Pirates games, brewing a beer, smoking weed, working out, reading a book, whatever.

Also watching all the dumb movies she hated. I can now watch Airplane!, Army of Darkness, Robocop and Spaceballs without her bitching about how dumb they are.

I feel this. My parents and my brothers family are visiting. There was no stress about cleaning or scheduling shit. we've been having a great time.

Doing the exact same thing. I’ve recouped so much free time because I’m not putting energy into her, so much effort went in with no return for many years. It was a slow decline and I didn’t notice it…I’m so much happier now.

Hoping other men struggling can read your post as well as my response and all the others because it SUCKS when you’re in the thick of separation, but there’s a wonderful light at the other end - it’s all about realizing it

Decision-making autonomy has been huge for me. I bought two rental properties earlier this year somewhat on a whim. That never would have happened when I was married as my ex is much more risk averse than I am. Being able to make these sorts of decisions at my own speed and be accountable only to myself is such a great feeling.

And time for my hobbies. My ex would get mad when I would spend time working on my boat. Now I just do that when I want and have no one getting pissy about it!

Never a truer word spoken.

I can nap on the couch without being kicked awake too, because for some reason, the sight of me taking any form of relaxation was deeply offensive to her.

I now have a much quieter, peaceful, stress-free, less chaotic life with next to no aggravation and I love every second of it.
