That’s a big increase from the findings of a Harvard study about 10 years ago, which itself was an increase over prior studies. The Harvard study said women were 33% more likely to divorce a man who lost his job, and the number had grown a lot since 1975.

Happened to a close friend of mine a few months ago, lost his job then she literally just left him and took a loan out and bought a house on her own.. as her instant reaction. He went off radar for a while, I got him a new job with me and he is getting through this and becoming even stronger now, so it wasn’t all in vain. But mann the way everyone else reacted to him was like, soo blasé. Most of the older monarch programmed gen x guys we work with were like “yeah thats just women”. We are on our own here guys, even our own “men” have given up.

My ex gf left me soon after I lost my job. The few times I acted tough to her she responded positively to being treated like I didn't care about her.

What imo the real problem is, is that the marriage vows means nothing to these women. It's just words they say so they can wear the special white dress and be the centre of attention for a whole day.

There is a theory that women have a very clear distinction between liking someone and liking the relationship with someone.
Translation: when you say "be my girlfriend/ be my wife", that's an relationship offer. If the relationship is not interesting for her, she will not accept it.
And it doesn't matter how much she loves you, if that relationship is not working for her (and that includes what you provide for her), she will leave you.
Actually, that's not a bad way to see things. You can love someone with all your heart and know full well that a relationship with this person will never work out. And refusing to be in one bad relationship can be the best decision that you ever had.

My husband lost his job as a firefighter in 2015. My parents took out a second mortgage to pay for his education for a career change in nursing. And just today i had 2 examples in front of me for the same there is an yesteryear actor who was famous and he is not getting any works since few years what is happening is his wife is going and giving every podcast out there for which she charges money shames her husband (the yesteryear actor) and now is in for many roles in reality show and says bluntly i will earn for myself and build a home for myself.

Second example is of an youtuber i used to watch regularly and he used to make videos with her girlfriend and the girlfriend even has her twitch but this guys youtube channel got banned and as soon as that happened in few months the girlfriend left him due to which many simps who used to come just for the girl left him and she is now more famous on twitch

1 yes, a lot of women would, sadly #2, as a psych student, psychology today is just pop psychology made to entertain the masses. They don’t conduct valid study’s #3 see national institutes of health or Harvard. They say essentially the same thing, but the number is a little lower, at 33% or 35% initiation with some thought to the processes going on behind the scenes (extended unemployment, overspending, financial difficulty, gendered expectations in marriage, “women’s independence,”/women with more resources being more willing/able to leave). It also discusses factors that increase men divorcing women or avoiding divorce for financial reasons (men’s “independence effect”) since leaving women often still means paying alimony.

And maybe women leave their unemployed husbands because who wants someone who is struggling to work? You don't know if these statistics are taken out of context, maybe these men just don't want to work generally, it's not 1900, women are working too so I don't question why they don't want a partner who isn't able to maintain a job. Something to consider is that for a lot of these studies that are done through surveys, you're getting a snapshot of what these people think in the moment, not what they will actually do in the given situation.

Do I believe 50% of respondents think they would leave a man if he lost his job? Sure. But how many would leave once they are actually in that relationship and emotionally invested with someone?

I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of women who said they would leave are either single, or not in a committed relationship. You're not seeing how they would behave if they were in love with a man they're committed to. You're seeing their detached, individualistic bias from being brought up in a feminist and anti-male culture.

But you can find different results, like 63% of women would not marry a man with no job, or 80% of married people who recently lost their job could leave their partner if they also lost their job.
