For the record, I agree that being conservative doesn’t give you a monopoly on masculinity, but that’s because the idea from the left is that masculinity isn’t tied to any specific role.

Seeing a video like this and then claiming men should adapt because women can stay single feels off. It’s not so much that men need to be conservative, but conservatives tend to encourage this form of masculinity more, as they’re more pro–gender roles, so it’s no surprise they’re more likely to hold conservative views.

I also don’t think it’s about men being in high demand; rather, just as men aren’t entitled to a certain expression of femininity from women, women aren’t entitled to a specific version of masculinity. It’s up to each person to find and appeal to the type of partner who expresses masculinity or femininity in the way they value, not to demand someone change their expression.

You’d think progressives would be more likely to embrace that view, but they often don’t, which feels odd since it contradicts the belief that gender roles shouldn’t be forced. Why is it on men to adapt, rather than for women who want a certain kind of masculinity to encourage it and meet those men halfway? It’s a two-way street; men shouldn’t be solely responsible for expressing it.

He also cites this as a reason for male loneliness, but it doesn’t make sense. Why would a man’s way of expressing masculinity cause his loneliness, and why is women’s loneliness also pinned on men’s expression?

Maybe the real issue is that neither gender is expressing themselves in ways that attract the kind of partner they want.
