INFO: Which countries are able to invade the United States in so devastating a manner that a mass evacuation would be required? How would this invasion take place? How would nearly 200 million women and children be evacuated? By whom? Where would we all go?

The US isn’t getting invaded, and no one is getting evacuated. Look at WWII; the men went were drafted, and the women stayed behind and took the men’s places in factories. Now women are enlisted in the military and would likely see combat.

Men sure love to talk how’ll they be drafted and blame it on women, even though men are the creators and perpetrators of the draft.

I think about this sometimes and I do think I'd be okay with being a soldier but that the country would benefit more from me being in a more intelligence focused role based on my personal traits and education. When I was concerned about paying for college I was heavily considering enlisting or going ROTC but thankfully I found another way. It would never be my first choice to go to war but I always believe that I will succeed at whatever I do so I'm sure I'd make the most of it.

I would like to point out that men in general are not second class citizens but that it is instead based on socioeconomic class. You have more in common with a woman who's also poor with no options than a man who went to a military academy even though you are different genders. As an intersectional feminist I believe in making sure everyone has more options available to them so that less desirable life paths like drug dealing, prostitution, or joining the military aren't the automatic best choice.

I think you may be the same person who made comments about the Russian invasion of Ukraine and I'll say what I said then. The reason countries are reluctant to make women a part of the draft is that it would make them seem desperate and ill equipped to win, not because they care about women. I genuinely don't know why you seem to spend so much time terrified about a potential war as an American but that's your prerogative. If you want to believe that "western women" are insufferable at least have a valid reason rather than a hypothetical.

To answer your question, i have no position personally, it's complicated matter with obvious issues. One being human rights and personal right for his life. Another being protection of society, and if nobody will protect then all will die and suffer. It's typical suffering of the minority to save majority dilemma, and i personally have no answer about it. I do understand men's feelings, i would also not want to be sent to fight a war i didn't start. But then also would i want to live in a conquered country? I've read what happened on ukrainian conquered territory, it's not pretty, it's not pretty at all. So it is a moral dilemma, and a big one, and it's not so black and white really.

USA hasn't been invaded for 200 years. In UK it's longer. In WW2, 9 out of 10 soldiers were in non-combat roles. In WW2 in UK women were required to do war work, including traditionally male jobs and military roles (Queen Elizabeth was a car mechanic). Most of the Ukrainian was is now remote with drones etc (not downplaying how dangerous it is, more than physical strength has less obvious benefit if you win by producing more drones, flying them better etc)

You're saying generations of women in centuries of peace shouldn't have rights in your country because IF usa was invaded, then due to a chosen political policy of the government (something that can be changed now or in the future) SOME men would get constripted and a MINORITY of them would be in combat roles and SOME of them would die....?

If someone invades the states, women would be fighting in the military along with men as well...I also see fraction sides developing because of how divided your country is and both men and women fighting the fuck out of eachother and the invading force, while sending disabled men and women, elderly and children to safety.

The male only draft is a patriarchal concept that believes the women need to stay behind and be protected to eventually repopulate the land. Because before modern, and even still, wars were where the men would go invade. Conquer and kill the men of towns, cities, and villages and take the women.

Ie, the women were what men took in a lot of wars. Hence why men were seen as needing to protect "their" woman. Because the soldiers of the other kingdoms and tribes and empires etc would kill him, take his wofe as a sex slave or a wife and his kids would either be killed or enslaved.

So, it comes from that concept. Of the women are what will be destroyed and taken when the enemy lands, so send the men to prevent that.

If we you know. Didn't conquer a land then rape the women, we wouldn't have this issue and women would be seen as more capable of joining the fight.

But we as women have been used against you men for the purpose of you going to serve and protect. We women have been used as propaganda for you to want to join the army because yall know if your country gets invaded it will mostly be men and they will rape and kill and take your wives and children

You know men are coming and you know what they will do to your gf and wife and this is why you're eager to serve and protect. Cuz you know what happens to women during war.

So, have you co sidereal why women weren't let into the military so easily and why they aren't as many of them and why they are sometimes discouraged? Because a war with equal men and women would cause a lot less raping and pillaging meaning there would be a lot less reason for people to want to go to war.

Because if war happens and your city and your people are fine then what are you laying down your life for? Oil? Architecture? Infrastructure

They need the illusion that you're protecting your family in order to get you to join the military. And they do this by making militaries masclunine. Because you know what happens in war when men take over a town, or village or location...

You want equal warfare? Then yeah women should be more able to join. Heck. Even transgender and gay men and women. Because it means those who actually want to be there are there.

But taking away the ability to join the military from non masculine enough individuals continues the narrative of why you should sign up for the military. You're going to Iran to defend your wife and kids. But if your wife joined you then you'd actually have to think about why you're going (oil and politics)

Ashley's War is a good read about women in the military. It came out some time ago so, no doubt, things have changed.

I wish we could send old people to war as we have less life to lose. I remember the discussion when the Ukrainian War started that men were being sent as if you have to send squishy inept people to war the men are less squishy and so the better choice.

I wonder if I could learn to fly a drone.

The country I'm in hasn't been invaded for centuries and hasn't had conscription since WW2 (even then you were allowed to object if you didn't want to go). The country I'm from has never had conscription. Only after any of this was any woman given so much as the right to vote.

I don't know what things would look like if my country got invaded and I'm not basing my views on gender on guessing what will happen in an unlikely hypothetical that people only really think about to say "gotcha feminists".

I think if feminists had their way, the selective service system wouldn't exist anymore, and this wouldn't be a problem. But of course, old habits die hard and conservatives with more traditionalist views of gender (who are the other half of the American political system and currently in charge right now) are vocally opposed to adding women to selective service for the sake of equality (Ted Cruz for example). This in combination with the fact that there probably isn't much willpower to change it anyway on both sides because it has been some decades since we have had to engage in a draft and it's unlikely in the near future. There are bigger fish to fry.

Regardless of how we assess this, I don't understand how the conclusion here is that "Western women have become insufferable". Men have been forced into war well before feminism became this big thing. This is a relic of a traditionalist view that has continually been forwarded by men historically to today.

Men are less likely be raped by their fellow soldiers than women are. Maybe people would be more supportive of adding women to the draft if their fellow soldiers didn't rape them so much?

I'm against the draft as a general thing so I don't think men or women should be drafted.

That being said, if we were looking at a large scale world war, then realistically, the draft wouldn't matter because we'd all be shadows on the pavement from the nuclear bombs.

If by some miracle we didn't blow each other to smithereens, women would probably end up being drafted as well. War has changed dramatically in the last couple of decades. The last time there was a draft in the US, there wasn't high powered drones, or AI, or any of the other dozens of genuinely terrifying technology that we have now. On a world-war scale conflict, we'd need everyone possible and it still probably wouldn't make a difference.

As an extra point, you can't say that women don't deserve equality because they weren't drafted in the past, and there is currently no likely prospect of a draft being called in the near future. You talk about being cannon fodder but are you currently being forced to be cannon fodder? No. Drafts aren't a common thing, so you are unlikely to ever be drafted. And what about people who can't be drafted due to disability? Do they not deserve equality either?

About Ukraine... there is a huge, former senior citizen (high rise) appartment building in my neighborhood that is turned into a shelter location for Ukrainians. (1000 people at least) They were the first group of refugees, so they are here for a few years already.

And they are either: a family or men alone.

My entire city is flooded with Ukrainian men. They love to hang around in the park and in the city and drink unbelievable amounts of alcohol (they have plastic bags filled with coke bottles with clear liquid in it) You ain't seen drunk till you see Ukrainian drunk.

Anyway,

Of course there are many, many Ukrainian and Russian men who are forced to fight, im not saying that they are not.

But its not like they all are.

The ones with money all got out. (How do i know this? Well because the parking place of the building they live in only has expensive cars with Ukrainian licence plates. And because its obvious, because the poor ones didn't have the money to leave Ukraine.

The poor ones were left and forced to fight.

My opinion:

NO ONE SHOULD FIGHT IN A WAR. MEN ARE NOT CANNON FODDER. MEN ARE NOT PUPPETS FOR RICH MEN TO USE TO FIGHT THEIR WAR.

Seriously, if NO ONE would join the army/navy wars are over.

And without an army they can not force men to join the army.

IT'S NEVER OUR WAR. IT'S ALWAYS THE ELITES WARS.

Let them fight their own wars.

If invasion is reasonably likely, then conscription is reasonable.

If conscription is necessary, then everyone should be conscripted (regardless of gender).

What I don't get is why anyone would want half the population to have zero military training if they think their country is going to be invaded. Even if women don't go to the front lines by default, they should have at least enough training to fire back if the invading forces make it to them.
