The main benefit to calling yourself a feminist is to tell other people that you support feminism? It's not a label that you just slap on to make yourself more or less attractive to women, it's a word that describes your beliefs.

I like actual male feminists. I know the kind of guy the author is talking about, and you are going to be that guy if you call yourself a feminist - smarmy guys who appropriate a political movement to seem more attractive to women. I watch what he actually does over what he calls himself, but it would be pretty odd if a guy who has compatible beliefs with me didn't call himself a feminist.

I couldn’t care less as long as he isn’t expressively ANTI-feminist. Those are the most insufferable to me. But there are feminist-identifying men I find attractive and men who DGAF I find attractive. Ultimately I prefer him to have a balanced view, not extreme in either direction.

There is enough space between male feminist and misogynist to fit the entirety USSR.

Most women won't want a misognyst. Some women want a male feminist but most of us are just happy with a respectful partner.

You can also believe in some feminist things like catcalling is bad and women deserve equal opportunity without having to label yourself a hardcore feminist.

I think your issue is you think in absolutes. It's good or bad. It can be both, or neither depending on the person situation and severity.

It absolutely is a negative about a guy. Even when I was still a feminist, about 2-3 years ago, I had always for some reason had the impression Male feminists were pretty slimy. A while later I realized it was like they were sneaking their way into women's pants, because they couldn't compete with other males in the regular way. Realizing what the nature of the Male feminists I knew in real life actually is was pretty eye opening and it was one of the biggest red pill moments for me. It was definitely a turning point.

Edit: the girls I know who are into Male feminists are feminist themselves. They always end up in relationships with these super shady guys, never able to see what went wrong. They end up thinking all men suck, all the while having preferred the politically correct feminist guys over all the other regular masculine guys out there, because they have been taught their whole lives normal masculinity is toxic.

I identify as a feminist and honestly it never comes up. At the end of the day common Feminist values are quite pervasive and normalised now so it's just expected. You can mention most feminist talking points, bar patriarchy, without anyone even making the connection.

I so yeah, I think it has no impact for me because it's never come up.

I don't need a man to identify as a feminist himself, but I need him to support/approve of feminism on average (I don't like the crazies, and I don't want him to either, but still). I would not date or fuck a straight-up antifeminist. The scene is Sex Education is what's known as a "joke"--but yes, women are often attracted to guys who like the stuff they like. I remember thinking a guy was hotter after he told me he was into nineteenth-century fiction.

I will admit, I don't particularly like "activist" types of any stripe--having beliefs, even strong ones, is good, but it shouldn't be the defining feature of anyone's personality.

idk theyre okay i guess, my bf is pretty feminist (idk if he calls himself a feminist but he's always retweeting feminism tweets and such), i appreciate the effort its not that deep. but if you're expecting a man to ever truly abandon all his innate maleness in alignment with the plight of women then you're setting yourself up for failure. he still likes hot girls and being a bro.

I require a man to be at least feminist-friendly if we’re gonna date. He doesn’t have to use the label or anything, just be pro-gender equality, anti-sexist, and sympathetic towards women’s issues (as I generally am towards men’s issues). I consider active anti-feminism a major red flag for several reasons.

I date people who have similar core values to me, and act upon those values. I don’t care if a guy calls himself a feminist as long as he’s supporting women in his life and being a decent person.

If a guy says he’s a feminist, but then discriminates/is creepy or does some other non feminist action, I’m doubly pissed.

Labels aren't important, but I would never sleep with anyone who I believed to be misogynistic in any way. Most of my partners have described themselves as "feminists", at least casually. But that's just a word.

Actually no. That's just the extremely black and white misinterpretation of the manosphere, but if you actually read the article you will notice that it's more nuanced than that.

She didn't say that she doesn't like men that are feminist. She said she doesn't like predatory men that simply pretend to be feminists in order to get laid.
