Men talk about women they think should be realistic for them to fuck (it's not realistic for them though. Women fuck up).

For average dudes this is mostly "cute" and "pretty hot" girls, who probably fall between the top 70-90%. I think the top 10% is about as invisible as the bottom 70%. Dudes know they exist, but unless they're really in a bad place they understand they're squarely out of their league.

Here's where I think the 80/20 rule fucks up. The way I understand the rule is that women find 20% of guys attractive, therefore they only go after the top 20%. I'll call bullshit because I think even if women are more critical of attractiveness in men, they're also more critical of attractiveness in themselves. Therefore, they stay closer to their league. Personally I think online dating has skewed things in favor of women. They have so many options so they date upwards, slightly out of their league. For men, dating is so competitive they date downwards to just feel good about themselves without ever intending to be in a long term relationship. It's a self sustaining cycle of empty relationships. I think that asymmetry is what feeds the 80-20 belief.

You are misunderstanding the 80/20 rule from the TRP perspective.

It is absolutely true that 20% of men sleep with 80% of women. The other 80% of men are not all tossing around the other 20% of women though - they are either not getting any women at all (which is way more common than women think, because most women only know the behavior of the top 20% percent) or these guys are getting the woman that the top 20% have already been through. Like there is some overlap here, it’s not a sharp divide between the 80 and the 20.

We do know of the bottom 80% of woman. Those are the women that have hit the wall.

The thing is that the top 20% of all men more or less stay as the top 20%. Whereas woman almost automatically enter the top 20% of all woman at 18 (as long as they aren't obese) and drops out of the top 20% as time goes by and they get replace by younger woman. So only a little over 20% of men will ever experience being in the top 20%, whereas almost all woman will have experienced being in the top 20% for a few years. Basically the female equivalent version of 80/20 difference in men is the before and after of hitting the wall.

The handsome boy that's born with a silver spoon, will be the one fucking the 10/10 in high school while all the other losers look on. 30 year later? He'll still be fucking 10/10 on his yacht. Men in the top 20% more of less stay in the top twenty percent. But with woman, she's basically gets a temporary super power just for growing a pair of tits and slowly loses it as her looks fade.

Correction. It means that the top 20% of each female (aka the top 5th they consider as partners) are considered as a sexual partners while the other 80% aren't. It does not mean they will have sex.

And the bottom 80% of guys are like passing around the 1/5th of remaining women in some big sloppy pile.

It is a research made by OKcupid and Tinder in separate occasions. It was not TRP who invented it, although some did not read and could not understand its meaning. TRP mistake I guess.

But is the paretto principle real?

Actually it is related to the Zipf distribution. Neurons when they process thought have a limited 'memory', which follows a previsible pattern, the Pareto principle or, as the distribution is known, the zipf's law. One that make you forget 20% of X if you use it 80% of the time, and forget 80% of the Y, if you use it 20% of the time... It was discovered by Zipf when he saw that all languages, including fictional ones follow this rule. Read about Zipfs law. It is a interesting read. tl;dr, Everyone think is zipf's law, and by consequence, also in the Pareto principle, it is a neurological imperative. You actually have to work hard to NOT think like that.

Unfortunately the 80/20 rule leaves men delusional as the bottom of the barrel trash man honestly ends up confused when the "bottom of the barrel" 80%er isn't interested. "Even garbage girls aren't interested in me", weeps the stoic alpha in training.

It does not follow any of the researches I previous mentioned, as of men showed, on average, interest in 80% of women they were shown. But sure, you are correct, men do not invest in equal amounts among all females. They invest more on the ones they find more attractive. so... horray?

TL,DR you supposed that TRP is crazy to use the Pareto principle (zipf law) to express market forces, but you did not know that it is actually a consequence of a researches about it. Read a bit more, none is that stupid to believe something without at least some proof. Do not take everything at face value either.

This is 100% grade A bullshit. If you care to know why, there's an interesting video on this called the gender attraction differential. Women grade men on an S-curve, meaning they view about 80% of men as average or below average. Men, on the other hand, grade women on a bell curve. All this means is men find more women attractive than women find men attractive. So the idea that men only notice the top 20% of women is provably false.

If you are a man and your biological imperative is to scatter seed, why would you limit yourself to 20%? That's not scattering. That's being selective. That's hypergamy. Men don't operate that way. There are plenty of guys dating and marrying 1/10 and 4/10 women.

Any woman that is not (BMI) overweight and younger is probably going to be attractive to most men. Nearly %60 of women are obese or overweight and they percentage skews towards older women(30+) as well as poor and minority women. I think when discussing on this forum people are generally talking about middle class 20-30 year old white women. Even just including the 20-30 year old range of women you are looking at around %50(outdated stat from 2013, best I could find) that are of normal BMI. That is who guys are talking about. Are these women top %20 when including all women from 18-99 I agree. If you are saying men are only after the top %20 of women from 18-30 you are dead wrong.

On a side note men get put in their place at a young age as to what women they can achieve and don't often reach outside of the area once they know their place. A dad bod gamer guy that gets rejected by a enough 7's that he has a thing for is not going to keep running into that wall and seldom punch above their weight. Their egos get checked real quick and they look in their range and lower or drop out of the SMP entirely. Women get their egos inflated(artificially due to looks) and end up closer to the 80/20.

It's easy for a woman to be sexually viable. I've met some pretty ugly women who STILL have loads of men swooning for their attention. There really isn't such thing as a "top 20%" woman, simply because female sexual improvement it's incredibly simple and the sexual market is flooded with women who literally just have to look nice and not be a complete biznatch. I theorize about 85%~ of all women have at least 7-20 orbiting men. That's not top 20%... rather just the majority of 85% of sexually viable females.

Also, in order to be a top 20% male, you have to: be rich, be more than socially adept, have other female orbiters, have a great/well-known reputation and look like Brad Pitt. It's a difficult feat to pull off, which is why it's just 20% of men who are able to achieve this.

Women don't have to do much to attract male attention, but for the majority of men, they have to move mountains to get to a point of sexual viability.

Now, it's actually not a bad thing. HOWEVER, it's this society that absolves females from a lot of sexual responsibility (ie, handouts to single mothers, constant validation for females on all social media platforms, etc) while men are usually taken the blame when it comes to sexual conflict. If we really were fighting for equality, women would have equal responsibility. But, unfortunately not really the case.

That claim is new to me. The once I see is that there's not a 50:50 split between what each gender finds attractive which is backed up fairly reasonably by statistics from dating sites and apps. It's a metric of preference not what actually happens in real life which has a lot of more variable and practical stuff involved.

If you'd ask me what my favorite food is I'd give you an answer but this doesn't reflect at all what kinds of food I'd be willing to eat. It just gives you an idea about my preferred food.

I'd say the lack of will to engage with the other gender is a driving factor for such stuff. In that sense I think that women only places might make it even worse but there are of course other factors involved in that. I'd say there are a few things you have to accept if you want to engage with people from the other sex: they might want something from you. And you'll have to deal with that. If you say yes to a guy to go biking once a week he might develop interest for you but this shouldn't really deter either gender from engaging with the other gender. Interest is natural, it's human and it's not bad.

If you're activity is restricted to going to women only yoga classes because you don't want to be looked at then you're creating a separation of genders. Of course - I'm totally not against gender specific places/events because there are times where you want to be among your own gender but you have to keep a good mix and compensate for that.

It is difficult especially when you're older and not too fund of the clubbing scene. There's almost no other acceptable place to approach the other gender anymore. And I get that. It's probably really annoying for women but it's necessary. This doesn't excuse all sorts of behaviour but if you go to a cafe and just want to be alone and some guy asks you "can I join you"... if you take that away then you're only creating more separation between genders.

I think it's important to have a good mixing between genders. (If you know what I mean... english is not my native language). I think it's also time that women start realizing this and ditch the concept of that they are something that needs to be earned.

If you think men think you don't exist why not make yourself heard and seen in a productive way?

I think it’s true. To be fair, we only really notice above average people in general, both men and women. Average people more or less are ignored because they don’t stand out unless they are extremely good at something or call your attention in some way. Below average people are actively avoided for being below average. They may get “noticed”, but we just pretend to not notice them.

We only talk about the top 20% because we only notice the top 20%. The bottom 80% usually don’t even register.
