Yes the planet is getting fucked up! I hate when people say is isn't. Can we pretend it is for a few decades just in case you asshole!? We're in the midst of a mass extinction, the ice caps are melting, the oceans are becoming more acidic. There's going to be more plastic in the ocean than fish I 2050! We're all guilty, especially 1st world folks, and dare I say especially women. Consumerism is destroying the planet. But we can't take the wheels off without crashing. Thanks everybody

The period when we can do anything about global warming is over, if something was going to happen, it would of been 15 or 20 years ago. Now, now its far too late. The icebergs are already on an unstoppable path to the sea, and more and more methane and open ocean that use to be permanently frozen is being exposed.

Right now we need to take emergency action, by building seal walls, or just moving most coastal cities inland, we need to fix our agriculture and start preparing for the mass droughts and famines that will be coming in the next century. The world is fucked, but maybe we can avoid our civilization collapsing if we take action right now.

But seeing as you want to know:

in my opinion yes climate change is a real issue, and in general people are spending less of their time thinking about it because it's an issue waiting to happen whereas the gender war is happening right now.

The only real effort that anyone's doing to combat climate change is developing renewable energy, namely solar. In that respect the effort is almost entirely male, although I'm not sure this question really makes sense, as you could equally argue that the oil lobbies are almost entirely male.

e) It feels like you've just got a preconceived picture of 'redpillers' and are trying to fling every awful opinion at them to see what sticks.

I'll certainly be 'able to escape personal hardship' to whatever extent people can, but nobody can escape knock on effects on the economy or progress that issues have and even if it didn't I still view resolving unnecessary suffering and creating a sustainable planet as worthwhile.

Here's the hard uncomfortable truth about the environment.

The biggest thing any individual can do for the environment right now is not have children. This planet has over seven billion people on it today, and will have a few billion more soon. That's too many people to support biodiversity. One child creates a negative footprint so massive, it pretty much erases all the good a parent may do to save the planet, and then some. And then that child could go on and have several more children with enormous negative footprints.

Feminism encourages women to focus more on career. A women who is passionate about her career is more likely to have just one child, if any. Feminism also tells women that it's okay to not be a mom, or want/like children. Also, feminist want birth control to be cheap and easy to access for every woman on this planet. So in this aspect, feminism is just what the planet needs right now.

a) Do you care about/believe in climate change? Do you do anything about climate change? Do you feel a sense of responsibility to do something?

Climate change is not 100% caused by humans because the climate fluctuates throughout history way before fossil fuels. That said, all the shit we're pumping into the air obviously isn't exactly helping either.

I don't see why I should feel a responsibility to do anything. I am not an engineer and the biggest source of emissions is not homes or cars but factories and airplanes. I have no control whatever over those. Smarter men and women than me are already working on that. I have nothing to contribute.

I do recycle though if that counts.

b) What do you think both genders are doing right now to contribute to/prevent climate change? How is this affected by the gender roles and expectations placed on them by modern society?

I don't think this affects gender roles whatsoever, so has absolutely no relevance to PPD.

Whoever decides to become an engineer, regardless of what's between their legs, they are the people who are coming up with the real solutions.

In the future we'll see petrol and diesel cars die out (diesel will die very quickly imo) in favour of electric cars once the kind of technology inside a Tesla becomes more affordable and widespread which I doubt will take more than a couple decades.

Existing cars should also be able to get converted without much hassle either. Just pull out the engine and stick a big battery and an electric motor in there.

However as I said cars aren't even the real problem. Factories and planes are. Those will be much more difficult to create electric versions of, especially when China controls most factories and doesn't give a single shit about pollution. As for planes, the technology required is much further off than for cars.

c) Do you believe you will be personally affected by climate change?

Nah. I do think technology will find solutions too all this stuff within my lifetime before it destroys the world like The Day After Tomorrow or whatever.

d) Why the Red Pill claims to be concerned with 'reality' and yet ignores this and other scientific theories that do not fit their worldview.

Climate change has fuck all to do with sexual strategy. You might as well walk into an Apple Store and ask why they don't sell washing machines if they're a technology company.

e) I have no doubt that many richer/more privileged Red Pillers are going to claim they do not care about climate change, because they believe they will be able to escape the negative effects of it. But if you are a poorer or less privileged member of the Red Pill community, how do you feel about this?

I don't see how class even comes into it. As I said, the people who are actually going to make a difference here are engineers. If anything those are actually very wealthy people because they get paid highly for the valuable work they do.

Let me make some observations

The rainforest has been decimated. Nothing was done about that.

The planet is on track to lose two-thirds of all animals by the end of the decade. Nothing has been or will be done about that.

The World Health Organisation describes the amount of pollution in the world as a 'health emergency'. Nothing has been done about that.

Climate change is happening, which has happened in the past, is not entirely caused by humans, and it's highly debatable whether anything can be done about it. It is constantly talked about, some very shady characters such as Al Gore constantly promote it.

Why is this? If you ever see anything being continually promoted on the world stage, whether it's climate change, terrorism, the threat of Communism, whatever it is, you should always be asking yourself why.

You will usually find that there are two simple answers. (i) There is money to be made; (ii) Powerful people see the issue as an opportunity to solidify their power.

That is why climate change is being promoted, it has nothing to do with sincere concern for the environment. If there was sincere concern for the environment then other environmental catastrophes would have been prevented. They weren't because there was money to be made.

As far as I've seen RP is very much NOT anti-science.... It is however typically right-wing.... and (in the US, but not elsewhere) that comes with some stupid anti-science baggage on this issue in particular.

This is not an issue with RP....It's an issue with the US Republican party being fucking morons regarding science, and dragging the US right-wing more generally into their idiocy by weight of numbers (libertarians etc etc) . It just so happens that a lot of the RP base are also right-wing Americans.

The significant minority who are not right-wing americans are not made "more anti-science" than they were by RP.... and those that are right-wing americans are getting their anti-science views from elsewhere, not RP.

Think NASCAR. NASCAR is not, inherently, pro/anti science.

If you are a pro-science person, and take to watching NASCAR... You're not going to become a scenery-chewing climate denier because you watch NASCAR.

It's just that lots of the other people who do watch NASCAR suffer from the affliction of "Being a Republican" and so are all sorts of insane on the issue. You might then get confused into thinking NASCAR made them like that. It didn't.

And, no, RP does not claim it is scientific. It may use (and abuse) science. But at it's heart it is a set of heuristics for solving the world, and heuristics are not scientific (although they can be extremely successful in their own right).

We spend way too much time doing nothing and way to less time to start sequestering co2. Grow tons of fast growing stuff like bamboo, make coals out of them, use the released methane to create energy and put the coals in empty coal mines/under fields and farm those field for more bamboo. If I hear that England wants to spend 8 billion on some shit... he'll every country should invest 1% of their national something on co2 sequesterig and in like 8 years we are down to 300 ppm. If we burn too much co2 or a volcano eruption happens... sequester more. If coals are too voluminous use something new like sea grass or algae and create oil out of it, one barrel holds more co2 than natural oil, also scientists found a way to turn co2 directly to ethanol - bury like 100.000.000 barrel somewhere like in that huge ass oil storage thing in cushing. But do that in useless areas like south pole, Sahara, Russian tundra, green land....

Since TRP is about accepting reality I would think most redpillers would accept that there is in fact climate change and at least the possibility that humans have contributed to it. How much and how big the perceived long term risk will vary based on each person's assessment of these factors as well as their optimism on technology helping mitigate some of the impending changes.

That being said, TRP is also to some degree and egoism movement. Why should I or anyone care about climate exchange's effect on others? We all things like "we're all in this together" but unless you are part of the same family, or company, or team, hardly anyone else gives a damn about you so why should you care about them?

Regrettably, as much as I hate big gov't, climate change policy and management is one area where the gov't can be effective in providing the right incentives/punishment for behaviors that affect climate change.

But I don't think you've considered all of the effects of climate change on those with TRP's views. If climate change ultimately leads to less economic activity and disruptions, won't that make men more valuable? Won't reduced commerce and entertainment result in more frequent sex for those fortunate enough to be around?

I personally want the negative effects of climate change reduced or even stopped but I don't think it's so cut and dried that all terpers would be concerned about it.

Climate change is very real and mass extinction is nigh. Sex is still an important part of life.

Global warming is a real and serious issue. but so is getting my rocks off. Since the redpill community was made to help men put their cocks inside moist pussies. It's understandable why the forum's attention would be about sex and gender roles instead of any other (non-sex related) scientific topics.

Just because TRP philosophies are based on science doesn't mean that every redpiller is a fan of science, it just means that they're a fan of redpill's methods. I'm sure plenty of redpillers who do believe in science are also subscribed to other science forums and are discussing those topics there where the forums was made for that.

I think being a redpiller and ignoring climate change has nothing to do with each other, some people just subscribe to both world views. I agree wholeheartedly that the environment is getting fucked up. and hearing people, especially in the western world, deny simple facts and say that climate change is fake is quite ridiculous.

Climate changes all the time. I am tired of stupid people renaming words to mean something else. The more accurate term is anthropomorphic global warming (APG).

a) I do believe that APG's weakest claim that APG is a part of global warming. I do not believe it is the major(>50%) cause nor the significant cause(>5%). APG matters because Marxists are using it as a tool to gain more power and oppress the global populace even more.

b) Wut?

c) I already am. We are producing more food than ever. We are living in a wealth undreamed of by kings of old.

d) You need to understand science. Then read the actual IPCC reports, usually just the first 100 pages is good enough to get at the meat of the matter. When you read these reports, take special notes of the modeling results. Weak APG is obvious. Strong APG is contentious. There literally isn't enough data yet for the Climate Change hypothesis(GW causes both more severe and frequent storms, etc) and there won't be for at least 52 years IIRC. This is before you consider data collection methodology, scandals everywhere, and the parties of interest.

e) Rich people do well no matter where or when. It is the welfare of the poor that has been so improved with technology and industrialization.

I drive a straight piped car (catalytic converter removed so it spews all the EPA unfriendly gasses into the air, cause it sounds good) that makes 20 mpg, 16 when I put the foot down. My drift project I'm starting on now will make about 12mpg when it's making 400hp. You can take these from my cold dead hands liberals.

Global warming is another one where silly liberals lose with their misguided idealism. If you think it's man-made (it's not, all alarmist global temp charts start after a mini ice age and scientists tweaking old data downward to fit the narrative is well documented), it's a third world problem with first world solutions. You buying a Tesla isn't going to make a dent, you have to shut down fossil fuel plants in Pakistan.

In fact, the best thing you can do is stop buying new shit and drive 1990s civics into the ground (they make about 40mpg) but being green is just a trendy fad. Who cares if we had to strip mine a mountain and pollute a massive ecosystem to make the battery for my Tesla/Prius, atleast everyone knows how green I am and how many farts I smell

However, this ignores the fact that, from the perspective of environmentalism, we would probably be better off abstaining from consumerism, especially since all but the most stringent businesses cannot be trusted to behave ethically in regards to production

I don't think climate change is the massive issue that it purports to be. There are so many other, more immanent issues that are being swept under the carpet, like oil availability, rare metal availability, the global economic collapse that's probably going to come soon enough, degradation of soil etc. People from the third world are already being displaced because of what's going on, and this is just a taster. I don't think climate change will bring any more issues that don't already exist, although it may exacerbate them.

Of course, the solution (if there is one) is the same for all of this. Stop buying so much shit and stop contributing in general to the global capitalist system. I'm a conservative though, not a communist, obviously. 'Ethical purchasing' is good for feeling better about yourself (no really, I do it too) but is ultimately not going to do anything. Either the whole thing will collapse or will transform into a kind of Asian-style authoritarian capitalism.

Now I don't give a shit about climate change, but I am perfectly willing to assume that the climate is changing. After all, the world has gone through multiple ice ages before, there's no reason to believe the climate isn't changing now. I have faith in humanity's ability to have the world, so I'm also willing to assume that this change is does to human activity. I'm even willing assume that even though the definition of "a problem" is subjective, that for a sizable amount of the population, climate change is "a problem." What I'm not willing to believe is that if humanity as a collective entity do see a problem with the climate, that it is all that hard to fix. After all, we put a man on the moon over half a century ago. Something like a degree or two change in temperature is child's play. There are valid proposals to lower the global temperature right now. The biggest issue is with these proposals is that they are not economical and not enough people view it as "a problem" to the point where politicians are going to risk votes.

I wouldn't say that I have strong political views, but I do have a strong view of what humanity is. When it boils down to it, we humans are intelligent primates. We are just primates in the sense that we are still bound by biology, where we need to eat, have sex , sleep, and protect our young. Basically we are bound by the needs of survival and reproduction. But we are intelligent in that, the bounds of biology are the ONLY bounds that humanity has. We can split atoms and deduce the universe all the way back to a few milliseconds after the Big Bang. Human's can't change the biology that make them human, but we are definitely experts in changing and controlling our environment. I do realize there are people who seem to have the exact opposite view of humanity. There are these people (ie: PETA, feminists, green party hippies) that believe humans can disregard biology completely (breaking down the intrinsic relationship of meat to food, men/women to sex, necessities of producing offspring), but yet are so incompetent that something like a few degree change in temperature can destroy humanity.
