girl. I'd rather my kid have all the options in the world to build her identity and be whoever she wants to be. with a boy id worry about him being beat up and shamed if he's not masculine enough or in the right ways.

Girl. I just feel it'd be easier to raise one. Society's progression towards female empowerment would make it a lot easier as a parent, especially where I live where the government will pay 75% of her college/university costs. That and I feel there's no wrong way to raise a girl, no one will judge you as harshly if they play sports or play with dolls.

Raising a boy seems to be full of potholes, and nitpicking from people on both sides politically who feel it's their right to challenge every detail of how you raise your son. Let him play sports? Oh how stereotypically macho, reinforcing supposedly toxic masculine traits like competition. Let him play with dolls? Feminising him and pushing him into being girly because you really wanted a girl. Can't win, I don't envy anyone raising a son.

Probably be easier to have a girl. Far less to worry about in terms of raising them and far easier fo them to have a happy future/keeping them safe.

I'm morally opposed to the idea of choosing the gender of your child, considering how it is abused through sex-selective abortions in several countries. But if I had to choose, I'd choose a girl to make a tiny effort to counterbalance the number of couples who abort female fetuses.

Ideally I'd have multiple children of both genders but if I only had one I think I'd prefer a daughter. It's embarrassing but I think I'm a little insecure about not being able to present a good male role model and be a good father figure to a hypothetical son.

To be honest, boy. As a man, I think it'd be easier to raise and there'd be less challenges, but I'd still love and cherish any female daughter I'd have. Admittedly I think most people, if they had to answer this question, would prefer a child of the same sex as them.

I feel like if I had a girl, I would project on them a lot, and in contrast, for a boy, at worst I would advise them in the ways in being a feminine male, which IMO is cool.

If I can have more than one child, then I could let the first one be a boy so his little sister would have a big brother to help her out. But of it's only one. I it really makes no difference to me. I can't see any advantages of one over the other.

I say I want 6 boys. My mom said the same. Then after two girls, she was hoping and praying for another!

I don't think I'll have trouble getting any daughter of mine to enjoy hiking, camping, or sports. Maybe that's what she was worried about before meeting us.

I'm worried about having to tell them about periods.

Whenever I watch a movie or TV show where something bad happens between a daughter/father, usually when one is killed which upsets the other, no matter how much I try to hold it in, I have a river of tears pouring out. Oddly enough the same does not happen for sons/fathers or any other familial relationships. I don't have kids and I'm male so I have no idea why I'm so sensitive towards daughters. I would probably be a bit more afraid of anything bad happening if I had a daughter. I'd prefer a son because although it sounds bad, I'd care less about him, or rather less worried about something bad happening.

In the US, probably a girl. In a non-Western country, definitely a boy.

I think more adoptive parents choose to adopt girls than boys in the US.

I used to want a male, thinking it would be easier to love him, seeing how many issues I had with my mother. I realized my mom is a half psycho and now I would like both to experience both sexes and to love unconditionally a daughter, and make her feel unconditionally loved, without abuse, jealousy, emotional incest/wheelchairing, huge expectations.

I don't know, men and women can do whatever they like in this day and age, men are more likely to realize their careers but are expected to do so while women might be expected to settle down but can choose to do whatever they like. not like there's jobs or careers for most people anyway!

A girl. The way how things are going she will probably get more out of life and gets more support around her and achieve more if she is a girl rather than a boy. I've been a man for 30 years of my life. I don't wish for my child to experience half the hardships, loneliness, and all the messed up things men had to go through. Better for her to be born with values than to inherit my gene as a man and fight the whole world.

It's for her own good. When she's in her 20s attracting men, having a time of her life. She'll thank me, or not, whatever.

I'd choose a son, because I want my child to be happy. Men are more likely to be happy, because women are bad at happiness; most women I know are never satisfied. I suspect that it's partly feminism, which encourages victim mindset, but I think it's also hard wired into women due to their sexual strategy.
