tldr; - Women get tons of attention on online dating apps. - Men get tons of attention in strip clubs. - Neither has to put a significant effort to get it. - Men don't get satisfaction from it as they know the strippers are there only to suck their money. - Women don't get satisfaction from it as they know the guys are there only to pump and dump them.

I (28M) went on a date with a girl (26F) I care about (met outside of OLD). There I noticed those notifications 'Somebody liked you' coming from online dating apps on her phone which quite put me at unease since we've been dating a bit. As a guy I know that I'd have to put in tons of effort, time and luck to even get a like, not speaking about a girl replying or even a date from OLD. I'm not sure why I felt so strange about it. Was it feeling of unfairness? Was it feeling of distrust in her? I know that both genders don't value people they've met on OLD as much as when they'd met naturally in real life, but still I viscerally felt that for example if I screwed up, she got mad and a bit drunk, she could literally go have fun with some other guy from OLD that night. Rationally I know she wouldn't but still I felt this distrust.

Then it came to me how women distrust men who go to strip clubs. As a man I know what the deal in a strip club is. No stripper will ever care about me, only about my wallet and its contents. As a man I then find it hard to understand why women would see competition in strippers, but I can totally see how slippery slope for a guy in strip club it can be. If there was a educated, nice and sweet stripper girl in strip club that night who would pretend and treat you like a loving girlfriend, I can see how men could fall into her trap and throw sums of money at her especially after couple of drinks.

This analogy actually resolves the feeling of unfairness inside me that I have from seeing how online dating is for men vs women. Now every time I see a woman using online dating I equate it to men who frequent strip clubs.

Note: I've been to a strip club only couple of times in my life and stopped going when realizing I can hardly get a boner in a strip club, since I know what the deal is. I've seen other guys falling into a strippers' traps when they give them the attention these guys secretly desire.

I'm interested in thoughts from both camps how do you feel about this analogy?
