It isn't a need, it's a very strong desire. Some would even say a biological imperative (with the end goal being to reproduce).

You get a lot of, uh, sex starved guys confusing their very strong desire for a need, because the desire is so great that not having sex is actively making them depressed/angry/bitter. The lack of sex is a net negative to their mental wellbeing.

You don't see this so much with women because rightly or wrongly, the narrative (one perpetuated by many women I might add) surrounding women is that they could quite happily go without sex. That it's enjoyable but not a must like companionship and relationships are.

I think another factor is that men receive validation from women by them wanting to fuck/actually fucking them. Women are already inundated with validation from men as it is, they don't need to have sex and rick a pregnancy to get it.

Because women do not feel the many side effects men feel by lack of sex. Basically, women's productivity or happiness is not strongly affected to sex. They can go months, every years without sex and be comparatively fine, while a man would be in thehalf way through depression by that time frame.

At least in any small amount of time. A decade or more without sex and even women will start feeling its effects too. The difference is that it takes many dozen times the time-frame for women.

Personally, if I go a week without sex I start losing productivity and happiness. While I had a lesbian friend who is in her 10th or so celibacy birthday was just starting to feel... "a bit down" and "a bit distracted"... after finding a girl and restarting the clock. (I could tell it was sexlessness because she changed from the processing power of a calculator to a computer in a single day)

One of a reason is that men get a ton of validation by having sex, much more than women do. I think that's why some men feel that sex is a need for them and that's why their self esteem has a lot to do with the amount of sex they're getting.

Women seem to be able to go for longer periods of time without sex without whining about it. If men could do the same then perhaps there would not be this narrative about men needing sex but not women.

They are just entitled. Most of them even get sex but it's not good enough for them because it's with fat women, it's only once a week, they have to pay for it, it's not porny enough, it's not with a variety of women, they have to 'pay' for it with a relationship, etc..

The best way i can relate the male sex drive to women is to compare it to women's ovulation horniness. You know how a lot of women become comepletely different people when they ovulate? Suddenly, a lot of women become horny she-beasts, and they're aroused by contexts and people that wouldn't normally pique their interest. Sometimes they're so horny and hornomal during ovulation that it intereferes with concentration at work or school. Anybody who's lived with women knows exactly what i mean about women in heat.

Women get their satisfaction from being wanted, you don't need sex for that. Men on the other hand, don't get the same reciprocity from women (on the same level), women don't salivate for men as much as men do it for women. Therefore sex is what men they seek.

And when it comes to the men that can't even get sex, they long for a relationship, so when a man can't get something, he starts looking for something that can give him similar satisfaction.

I'd like to argue a somewhat more philosophical point. Sexual maturity and therefore a big part of ones identity is defined slightly differently for the sexes.

Women are defined by the ability to give birth to children, it's intrinsic, it's not dependent on any interaction or even ever having sex. It just is. For men though, it's all in the act. Yesyes, alright, there's some more or less smelly fluid dripping from your dick, but that doesn't make you a man in the eyes of most cultures.

Just consider how differently virginity is viewed. Or for that matter homosexuality. Gay men... are they really men? It's one of the most common slurs, feminizing them is an insult classic around the globe in various forms and expressions. Lesbians rarely face the analogue though. Take the hint here. A woman is a woman.

A man is somebody who can impregnate a woman. Hence for a man fucking is also always an identity-confirming act. There is no need to try to compare drives, when it comes to explaining why men "need" sex more. To not have sex regularly messes with men's identity.

Now - and this will ruffle a few feathers, I'm sure - maybe the most comparable thing for women is what loosing a breast to cancer seems to do to many psychologically. Please, I'm not comparing the plight here, I'm just trying to hammer home a point. Which might be a very male thing to do, alright. Sue me. You won't be the first. But that's a different topic and I think we better not touch on what constitutes the identity of Karen for now.
