I had a vasectomy done seven years ago. The vasectomy was a no-scalpel version. In short, a needle is used to numb you, then a needle hook is used to pull the vas deferrens out (through the hole from the numbing needle) to snip/tie/cauterize followed by pushing the two ends back inside. Took about 20 minutes and was done in the doctors office (minor procedure).

I was one of the few who had complications. My complications were swelling and bruising. Not bad mind you, but walking was uncomfortable for about a week.

Do not forget that if you get one, you still need to ejaculate 8-10 times after the procedure to ensure the pipes are clear.

Lastly, there is a chance that it can undo itself. The process is called recanalization. Happens roughly 1 in 10,000 procedures. My urologist had it happen to one of his patients (not me).

Been there, done that, have the T-shirt. Some info & advice:

The doc is going to try to talk you out of it, the younger you are, the more reluctant he will be to proceed.

Reversal isn't necessary and you don't have to bank sperm - there is a third option called MESA (microscopic epidydimal sperm aspiration). Basically, they suck sperm directly from the testicular area.

Vasectomy is NOT 100% foolproof birth control. Vasectomies can & do fail. The rates are not well researched in the U.S. (Urologists don't want to record/report their failure rates). Research from Russia & China demonstrates a failure (recanalization) rate as high as 10% at 3 years post-vasectomy, regardless of method.

Other fun facts from the medical literature: 3 cases of men with DNA linked children (definite fathers) post-vasectomy, despite repeatedly demonstrated azospemia (no sperm present in ejaculate specimens). It only takes 1!

Don't let this dissuade you. The answer/advice I'd offer to every man getting a vasectomy: Annual Follow Up. After being declared sterile, go in once a year for a semen analysis. If you catch recanalization (failure) early, when your sperm count is 1 million vs 40 million, your much more likely to avoid unintended parenting.

Risks/Side affects: You can develop a hydrocele/spermatocele (fluid/sperm filled cyst on the testicle) that is painful and requires surgery to correct. You can also develop adhesions (testicles sticking to the scrotal wall). This happened to me. Basically my nuts don't swing/hang freely anymore. This results in me banging them painfully during vigorus intercourse. Sucks sometimes, but not worth further surgery IMO.

I would recommend it, but do your homework.

Be aware that you can't lift for 2 months after a vasectomy. So, expect to lose some gains.

This might sound like a fucked up thing to do, but if I ever were to have a vasectomy I would not tell a plate or an LTR about it but would tell them from the get go that I would never want kids and that if they were to date me I would not change my mind.
If an LTR happened to get pregnant, I would play along for a few months like I was ok with the idea and drop it on her after it's too late to abort that I had a vasectomy and I know she cheated on me before kicking her pregnant ass to the curb.

I have a few samples stored with a cryo facility already. Storage is cheap (~$900) for 5 years. That's about one child support payment.

The thing that has kept me from getting the vasectomy done is what you guys are talking about. There are complications with every fucking medical procedure, it's just the case of whether you're one of the lucky statistics or not. They can do open heart surgery and transplants and the patients live for tens of years. Vasectomy is literally just taking a tube and cutting it in half then putting it back in the sack. I do believe your doc has a lot to do with it. In the cases where the doc is "the best" at what he does, he's still human. maybe he did some whiskey the night before, doesn't feel it that specific day, who knows. Humans will always be flawed.

I also put it off because there is a gel that's being developed and won't be available till 2017-2018 after FDE approval etc. it's called Vasalgel. Non surgical and so far the baboon studies are really showing results.

I have friends at work who had vasectomies with no complications, it's just when it happens, you think it will happen to you. Even with surgeries afterwards to correct cysts fro sperm or what not, it's still cheaper than almost $1000 a month in child support.

I should just do it, but my brain thinks "Needle/scalpel to your ballsack? Fuck no". makes me put it off.

I had my vasectomy performed on July 1st this year for many of the same reasons we here subscribe to, but also because I think abortion is fucked up. And a huge one for me is that the planet is overpopulated and humans are destroying biology with population growth.

It was very simple. First, you call and schedule a consultation with a urologist. He gets a feel for you, palates your tunes to roughly judge any risks. This is your opportunity to question him and make sure he is competent. I found my urologist to be extremely competent and had no worries at all of a botched procedure.

About 2 weeks later I went in for the actual 'surgery'. A male nurse wiped my giblets up and down with iodine and all that.

The doctor came in. We made small talk while we went to work.

First he injected me with a local anaesthetic. The incision is made at the top of the scrotum, just below the point where the skin turns to "shaft". He injected the bottom of my shaft and all around my scrotum with numbing agent.

Then he made a vertical incision about 1cm long. He then fished around with his tools, snipped, sutured each severed end of the tube closed. Then he went to the other side of the bed and repeated for the other van deferens. It didn't really hurt. At some point he 'tugged' a little too hard and made me wince. When I told him, he just hit me with a few more injections of numbing agent.

Though numb, I could still feel most of what he was doing. That was the worst part for me. He was a great urgent and a great guy so he distracted me with small talk. But I was still white knuckle gripping while I felt things moving inside me. It was a very nauseating sensation.

Afterwards he wiped me down, stuffed my boxer briefs with gauze (they don't suture the incision closed-patients find it more irritating with stitches) asked me how I felt and sent me on my way. I drove myself home. I limped but it was more psychological than physiological. (I felt like I SHOULD be limping, ya know?)

I came home and chilled on my couch for 2 days. The dog of course managed to jam his paws into my crotch at every opportunity.

It felt like I had taken a good kick in the balls. The pain subsided commensurately. I couldn't crouch low for a week or so. I avoided the gym and physical exercise to shorten recovery time.

I was having sex with my gf about 4 days after the procedure (not recommended but eh).

I still feel little twinges of pain every now and then but nothing out of the ordinary. The incision is nearly sealed all the way.

10/10 no regrets.

I've had a vasectomy done recently. Mine was the scalpel version. It was a relatively painless procedure. Only thing that really hurt was the local anesthetic. Stayed awake the whole time because I didn't have someone else to drive me (no anesthetic = you can drive yourself home). Put ice on it, didn't take any meds as funds were low. Maybe some Tylenol here or there. Walking was nigh impossible for a couple days, so expect to be out of commission for a few days. Soreness stopped around a month after the procedure. $1k to prevent from knocking bitches up for the rest of my life was a good investment, I feel.

I had one after having my kids. It was done in my doctor's office on a Friday. The procedure was very easy with low pain. I went back to my physical job on Monday and Tuesday the next week. Bad mistake, as I had swelling in one tube the size of a medium marble after those two days. I ended up taking the rest of the next week off, and all was well.

Overall, I am glad I had the operation. I very rarely get a dull ache, which is the equivalent of smashing your balls in between your legs. However, the ability to have sex and not be concerned over another child is priceless.

They don't inject your testes. Just your tubes that connect your balls, and it's not terribly painful.

Also, erectile dysfunction after a vasectomy is absurdly rare and completely out of the scope of the surgery.

I got a vasectomy a few years ago. Best money I ever spent. Got snipped on a Friday, sat around all weekend, felt great by Monday. No swelling or bruising that I noticed. My balls hang tighter now, like they're scared. No change in ejaculate.

You do have to take a few days off lifting. But not 2 months.

Note that in some cases (2 men out of 200) chronic pain develops in the testicles. I talk about pain that make you curl into foetus position and that does not go away.

Type "vasectomy horror stories" on google if you want to know more.

It's not likely that one will get those but there should be mentionned that there is a risk.

Had one about 9 weeks ago. Still having residual aching. Also aches more after sex on one side. It's not debilitating pain but I have to stay on Advil all day to keep it under control and still have to use compression shorts or jock straps. It is gradually improving but if it doesn't go away I'll probably get a reversal. The urologist said some men take up to 12 weeks to heal due to the level of trauma associated with the surgery. It definitely hasn't been the walk in the park that others have experienced.

Glad to see a post made on this, I've been wondering about this for a while now but never got around to making a post on it, I'm only 19 but i pretty much have my life planned out already and it doesn't involve children, I'm aware this has to do with my own fucked up childhood and knowing what life is really like and not something i would want to raise a kid in, but i frankly don't care, i know that MIGHT change no matter how slim the chance so i'll probably opt for storing sperm until i hit about 40 because after that it's probably not gonna happen anyway, i'll probably take some more time to think about it but my decision is already leaning towards just getting it done and taking away that risk

However for those who have been reading about the male contraceptive, if that is looking to be a viable option i'm all for it, seeing how it's supposed to last years, if it really is as reliable as they claim i might just opt for that

My father got a vasectomy after my sister and I were born. His second wife wanted a child (at like 38 ) but it has been so long they couldn't reverse it.

He could have increased his biological winnings (sons) by 100% or more.

Personally I think vasectomy is a bad idea, but I hold to the biological truth that a mans true success is based on how many quality successful offspring he produces.

Also I hated kids too until I met my nephew. There is a world of difference between the abstract of children and a little vehicle carrying around your tribes genes. I mean a nephew is biologically like half a son, right?

There are viable contingency plans in case of a change-of-heart, and the benefits that it offers to men living in such a fucked-up, feminized culture is bountiful. Be prepared, and willing to make sacrifices to ensure you don't get tied down by your swimmers.

Or just don't date plates. You can still get nailed for child support even if it isn't your kid. Vasectomy WILL NOT save your tits.

Dissenting opinion here so downvote away but I really don't see the point in eliminating yourself from the gene pool in the first place nor the point of virtually castrating yourself. It's like the wet dream of feminists, men castrating themselves out of fear of what women can do to them. FFS being spermjacked is unlikely in the first place and fucking with a rubber on and properly disposing of it will make it downright impossible, there is no point in "getting snipped" (this expression makes me cringe when I think about it). You are downgrading which is the opposite of improvement. As a man you produce sperm, it stars when you hit puberty and ends with the day you die, it's what you do, it's what your body does, no need to kill it out of fear.
