As a woman and individual, I personally understand how it feels to need sex. I feel that need very strongly. When I was single, I craved it, desired it. Now in a relationship, I enjoy it very much. Sex is its own thing whether I'm single or in a relationship - it's not attached to validation.

  • But - I never worry about the thought that if my relationship breaks down I will no longer be able to get sex. Because sex is easy to get. I don't ever even think about it.
  • When I was single, I didn't feel as if I needed to get validation from sex. Sex was just sex - something that feels good.
  • The thought that a large percentage of the opposite sex would have sex with me at the drop of a hat gives me no joy. It's a negative association, because it's so many men and because there are too many men who rape women. Men wanting sex with me doesn't carry a good association.

But - if no men ever wanted sex with me, and men did not rape women (hardly ever) then I wouldn't have a negative association with men and sex. Instead, I'd be seeking validation via sex. Because if no man ever wanted sex with me, then I could never get pregnant and have a baby. I'd be a genetic dead end. Even if I didn't want kids, the sense would be there that I'm not valid in terms of continuing the human species.

Some women do seek validation via sex though. because they have low self-esteem due to experiences they went through as children/teenagers. Some men would not seek validation via sex, because sex was never denied to them - my SO is like this.

I don't see the sex and validation thing as being hardwired, but a response to the experiences you have in your life.
