We complain that women are not feminine anymore and we long for girls as they used to be: low N-count, knows how to cook, clean and nurture, wants kids more than a career... but men aren't what they used to be either.

The motorcycle part though...I'm an orthopaedic surgeon and I'd tell you to stay the fuck away from motorcycles. I've amputated a leg from a guy who fell over on a STATIONARY motorcycle. I've seen a leg arrive in a separate ambulance from the leg's owner. If you're on an upright motorcycle that slams into another vehicle the gas tank will smash your scrotum before opening your pelvis up like a book. Even if you're the safest rider you cannot control what the dipshit in the other car is going to do. Believe me, that lady with the "baby on board" sticker does not see you approaching the intersection.

Great post. I have to admit the repair+tools thing is so true.

I am not a "hands on" type of guy, but I think any man who is arsed enough can perform some basic repair and odd job tasks. My g-f respects my ability to train her at the gym, dictate the schedule, and lead the finances (she once asked me if she could just give me her paycheques and I give her an allowance and manage the rest) and be the boss. But she never saw me use tools. Why would she? I lived in a condo before, and I did no maintenance.

I recently bought a house and had to install curtains. I asked her to come along for aesthetic opinions on the railings, and then she asked if she could help me install. Not thinking, I said sure. It turned out to be one of the biggest, most persistent and ongoing shit and control tests I ever received.

The whole time, she questioned my measurements and try to take control of the procoess, my use of the level, my decision on the distance between window and railing, the location of my mid-railing support, etc., etc. Unbelievable. She is usually so tame and compliant, but for some reason she just didn't see me as "able" and it brought out this weird side of her. I honestly felt like an alpha dog in charge of a pack, being challenged by another dog. She even suggested calling a handy man. Every time she challenged me, I told her she could leave any time, but I was going to install my own damn curtain, not get handyman-cucked, and if she didnt quit bitching about my approach, she could fuck off and get out of my way.

She didn't believe in me at all.

I just did my thing, kept at it, measured everything 12 times, drilled the holes, etc. It was the first time I did it, but I was determined to do it right. She complained it was too slow. Of course it was slow, it's slow the first time you do anything!

I told her I would rather spend a whole day installing it if I had to, what's 1 day to avoid looking at a crooked curtain for years, or having to re-drill and patch holes, which takes even more time since it involve painting.

Finally, when it was done (perfectly of course) she looked at it and said "Awesome. You can be so handy when you want to be." We had good sex that night.

But since then, if she decides she wants to help me with odd jobs, she listens. That is, if I let her help at all. And her being an artist, she appreciates the perfectly level railing more than I do. Now on the scale of handyman jobs, installing a curtain is one of the most mundane and easiest things possible. And yet... even here, we find frame control is necessary.

One caution. Do it for yourself or get something in return. I have always been handy have built furniture rebuilt motorcycle engines repaired cars repaired shit around the house etc.

I used to always be willing to help people out when they needed it. No longer. Easy way to get taken advantage of. Make sure if you are doing something for somebody else you get something in return. Show that your time and skills have value even if you make it look easy.

This is interesting. I personally have creative personal passions that don't allow for anything else aside from women work and working out. None of them are manly, they are writing (almost finished with first novel), music and strangely enough ive gotten into men's fashion design, specifically jackets. Women seem to not only respect these passions but are genuinely interested in them, and they all help me get laid consistently. With that said I also do go shoot and am no stranger to grueling physical labour. But all this guy shit above I really don't have any skills in.

How about do things that YOU enjoy doing, not just for the sake of being qualified in your book as a "man" which is by YOUR weird standards.

Sure, these things can have tangible effects on daily physical problems, but they don't actually help you do better with women.

It is your confidence that outshines everything that you bring to the table, that is the thing that most men lack when dealing with women.

Hell, I can even do fucking pilates and still be great in life.

Good post. Every man has interests, and most eventually put their interests/hobbies on hold because they get shit tested by a woman.

I backpack hunt for elk (archery or muzzleloader) in Colorado every year, deep in a wilderness area, and my partner of several years started backing out last year, because his wife was giving him grief. Funny thing is, his wife has openly confessed to me that she wishes he would go, because she actually wants some time to herself and wants him to be a man, but her shit tests have got him spinning in place at home, afraid to leave the house.

I wouldn't ever tell him about her statements to me, because I don't feel it's my place. So this year I sourced another couple guys to go. So sad.

Probably the most traditionally "manly" thing I've ever done is work in a fiberglass factory for 6 months. Manual labor. Shifts started at 4 or 5 AM. It was very much hands-on, I learned how to handle power tools. I worked with virtually all men, most of whom were felons. A very masculine bunch. It's a shame I didn't pick up more of their (legal) traits.

I'm a programmer by trade. It's "manly" in the sense that it's about problem solving. I can't really say I've impressed many people, though.

I completely agree with the self defense portion, being a martial artist myself. It amazes me how many men really have no idea how to fight, or the physical and mental benefits of learning martial arts. It's not just about knowing how to kick someone's ass. It's about mental preparedness, cognitive anticipation, conditioning and countless other things.

Now the easy thing I see most guys do is go to an MMA gym. That's good...if you plan on fighting competitively. But most all of the stuff in MMA is derived FOR MMA. In a real fight, chances are you're not gonna get the chance to get someone in rubber guard when they take you down to the ground. I tell guys to learn a dedicated martial art. Karate, Judo, Taekwondo, Muay Thai (REAL Muay Thai, not that dumbed down shit you see in UFC) or Kajukembo. (My style of choice.) Something that has real life conflict application...meaning if your life depended on it, you can defend yourself.

At my gym where I'm an assistant instructor, it's amazing to see how green guys are when they first join up. Most can't even throw a pinch correctly. But that's where learning comes into play. You must empty your mind and commit to it. Martial arts is repetition and muscle memory. Bruce Lee famously coined a phrase "I do not fear the man who has practiced 1000 kicks one time. I fear the man who has practiced 1 kick 1000 times." It's not like lifting and hitting a plateau. Your commitment to learning the techniques rewards you better technique. The reward is infinite.

I've rambled on enough, but my point is martial arts can benefit you in all facets of life. If you're curious about beginning, find your local gyms and dojos and just ask questions. The instructors will be more then hapoy to answer. And who knows, you may find yoursrlf on the life long journey of self expression through combat like I have.

I dont really get to do much of anything I want to do lately because of my work schedule.

In the off season, when Im not working crazy hours, I like building and tending a garden with raised planters, building and cleaning guns, hiking alone, mountain biking, lifting of course, and just learning and exploring new things in general in terms of ideas and philosophy.

All manly things imo.

In a few years, when Im comfortable with my commas, Ill probably get back more in martial arts (like to try my hand at BJJ), and some dirtbiking.

spot on. lifting has always been apart of my life, gives me structure and routine.

a big one is that i picked up mountain biking this past summer. its been a great investment. i love the challenge, im on the east coast so it is very rocky and steep. it makes me chuckle when girls who are hiking with their bf/so stare.. gives me a ego boost.

not only is it great cardio but i have a sense of accomplishment when i complete a tough loop. i have something to look forward to when im off work and i can say i have a legitimate hobby.

This is a great post and very relevant to improving your quality of life as well as your ability to give your women that comfort/protection that she needs plus maybe a bit of adrenaline.

Thing is though, don't lose sight of the forest for the trees here. There are 'betas' that are great at some of these things. There are even blue pill beta men that are great at sky diving, riding motorcycles and doing extreme sports that can't handle or approach a woman in the right context.

These skills and hobbies should be seen as complimentary to your life. Not essential. You still have to cultivate a confident, brave, sexually aggressive character in order to execute on a woman's desire to be taken. And here is the kicker. You have to be able to have innate confidence standing on your own...without any of the aforementioned things in this post. That's the toughest part. Otherwise your perception of yourself and confidence is only as good as the number of skills/hobbies you know or do. And that's simply not realistic.

I tend to have unique, peculiar 'manly' hobbies, at least historically. Disc golfing, meteorology (storm chasing), politics, model railroading and hiking (normal). I also have made working out/lifting a new hobby and to me a health necessity. Owning a home has done wonders to give me the incentive to learn household skills, at least on a basic level. Some of it sounds nerdy and is in a lot of respects. I am still exploring things that I can fall in love with and learn new skills at the same time...given what time provides as far as my job, money, other responsibilities, etc.

But again...these are complimentary characteristics that should support your personal and sexual confidence. Not make that it.

I got to this one way late, but I will put in total agree.

I have a Desk Job. I sit and code and meet with other coders and we all meet with testers and talk about stats and items and objects and databases ... all day. and most of us love it. we make it a lot of fun.

However, I just got a new job not that long ago. I went over it with my wife. we moved and then a few weeks ago, I came home a little upset about a work situation.

and I was like "It's just that Project management and IT design can be a bear sometimes ...."

and she said "You're a project manager?" ... this is from my wife of 16 years, my mate of 25 years.

me: "yeah ... honey ... I am a IT Software project manager ... I design and support software solutions to middle and large sized corporations ....."

her: " well I know it is with computers ..."

me: "Well my boss says 'you're the VP and you're going to have to ..."

her: "you're an vice president?"

me: "Yes .... over four different design teams ..... ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!??? This promotion was what the new job was all about."

and I am proud of my career. you know what she remembers and brags about with me? I built the deck. know what she tells all her friends with a smile? I painted the house. when I bring home hunting meat ... she brags about it for two months.

I guess I do not care. to me it is strange though. so much time, energy, effort, education into my career .... and I feel good about where I am. but the monkey work is what she brags on.

Learn some basics. Fix a leaky toilet. Change a light switch. Paint a room. Repair a cut wire. Replace door knobs. I just replaced a handful of door knobs in my girl's place. It takes 7 min each. When I was done she looked as if I had built a damn house. And, oh yeah, she was dripping wet. Watch a few youtube clips on the basics. Practice on something. Go to home depot, get some scrap and make something.

Learn how. To write a. Complete sentence. Be a man!

I've been into physical fights with classmates in high school, with my own father(threatened to kill me with his gun) , and my older brother (broken family). I play basketball in my local park(which is common for me and my friends) and learned how to fix things simply because a lack of money to repair it. When you're living in a low income city, you HAVE to learn this things.
