Lol men like this always tell women to lower their standards and "don't expect much" but guess what they expect us women to do for them? cook, clean, pay 70 or 100% of the bills, have their kids, do all of the childrearing, have a good paying career, give them emotional support, do their laundry etc. and most of them want all of this without a ring or commitment just to add insult to injury.

Women are expected to sacrifice their career, their bodies and their own independence just to marry and start a family with a man. Plus all the unpaid labor they will take on for the rest of the household.

I would be mad because that ring would break the first time I dropped it. An engagement ring (and wedding band) is something a woman wants to wear for 50 years. It does not need to be gigantic, it needs to be sturdy and good quality. Also you can get fairly sizable lab grown stones for good prices with out being cheap or breaking the bank.

Ladies he honestly needs to give you a decently valuable ring. Please don't undersell yourself by wanting cheaper options or stones. My pickme friend wants amethyst and a cheap metal in her engagement ring. My point is if you have alternate tastes consider buying yourself the alternate ring and having him get you an engagement ring that's a nicer version of it, with the bigger stones maybe or the fancier metal. The ring is like an investment to you and is yours to keep if things go south or you get divorced you at least have the ring to sell.
