There were a few ladies who respectfully disagreed with me on some of the points of my recent post on obesity and body positivity. After reflecting on the points they made, I realized they made some compelling arguments.

I should have acknowledged that a major reason why so many women struggle with disordered eating is because of trauma. My own weight gain was a manifestation of trauma. I briefly talk about it in the podcast episode scheduled to be released tomorrow.

There are so many aspects of our culture that is sick, and it's making us sick.

I still think that it's important to be within a healthy body fat percentage range (I could rant for hours on people like Tess Holliday glorifying obesity and her generally scummy practices) as part of one's level-up journey. But at the same time, I acknowledge that a major reason why so many women struggle to maintain a healthy weight is because of trauma, which causes emotional eating. It's important to address the root cause (mental health) first.

The level up journey isn't just physical, it's primarily mental and emotional. Once you sort out your mental health, the other stuff (weight management, career, social life) becomes much less difficult.
