They withhold their depravity until they think they got you. It's not about "trusting" or being " able to open up". That's just how they frame it to manipulate women into justifying it to themselve. "Oh, he feels ok talking about anything with me. He'll even share his deepest, darkest fantasies. This means that he loves and trusts me enough. Ok...I guess. " Nah. When you've been in a relationship with someone and you do start to trust them, you may feel comfortable revealing private information about yourself. Women understand this, but a man who waits until you're deep into a relationship to reveal some sick fantasy he has is not the same. They do it on purpose. They pretend to be a "nice guy" for as long as it takes for you to trust them, not the other way around. They wait until you're bonded because that way you'll remember all the good things about them and will be more likely to brush off or twist your own mind into excusing what they say to you as just a weird, dark part of them. In reality, that dark part of them is who they really are and the rest is just a façade.

Edit:. Also when you've been with someone for a while, even if you do flip out when they admit to some awful fetish/behaviour or whatever, they can minimise it. They will dismiss.your feelings "what? You're freaking out over one tiny thing? It's not worth throwing the whole relationship away. Think of all the good times we've had together!!!" And the guys of Reddit will back this up, telling you that you're "overreacting" especially if the relationship is otherwise "good". You'll still have that nagging feeling that something is up, but everyone just tells you to let it go. You gaslight yourself.

Just go. If some dude, no matter how good he's been to you, admits to something which you would consider a deal-breaker (especially if you already knew it was a deal-breaker before you got into a.relationsjip), then go! It's not worth staying. That guy does not deserve what you are giving to him. Let him be alone with his weird fantasies.

I support the idea that sexual attraction has to be nurtured constantly. It's hard for me to explain, but basically you can't stop seducing your partner and seduction has an element of fantasy to it. You're creating a fantasy of sorts in order to excite them, their mind and body.

I am not saying pretend to be someone else, but just like in the beginning of the relationship you're on your best behavior, dressing well, creating romantic situations and experiences for them, etc. You gotta keep it up.
