I feel bad for my Muslim pick me sisters. I think in religion, it was a coping method.

I became an ex Muslim because of so many of the women’s rights violations.

And I’m not picking on just Islam. I see this in religion in general.

Right now I’m forced to wear hijab.

And before someone says it’s culture not religion. Well the book mandates hijab or else you’re sinning against God so that doesn’t sound like much of a choice

Ha I have a dooZy of a story... I know of a non arab white pick me, who met this Arab dude while she was a single mom.

She falls in love with him ... converted to Islam so she could marry him and now covers her hair etc... it's very cringe and sad...

The Arab dude was SO deathly afraid of seemingly being "cucked"... so he tells her that her children are not allowed to live in their married house. I.e. he doesn't want another man's kids in his house

How fucked up is that...

The kicker... she goes along with it, ends up having another kid with this guy and she sent her previous kids to live with her mother...

So the marriage is not great at all, I know for a fact he has internet girlfriends and messes around with a mutual friends wife on the regular.

But the pick me behavior in this regard is so below the bar its seriously deeply concerning.

What makes me feel even worse is that this woman is struggling with her weight at 300+ pounds, I'm sure she feels like she can't get anyone else, as I also knew he threatened to leave, bags packed out the door and she resorted to self destructive behavior to make him stay...

It’s weird because I see a lot of Muslim tiktokers on my FYP constantly saying that it’s such a feminist religion and that men are supposed to be providers and have to fund their families without any help from the wife and whatever she makes is her own money. They also mention Mahr and other benefits for women. But I feel that isn’t the reality for a lot of Muslim women, I’m not Muslim but I am South Asian, and I feel overall if men are providers there’s an unsaid understanding that women will basically become slaves to them especially in the desi diaspora.

Here's something interesting. A good friend is a Muslim. I love to travel and we've travelled to multiple Middle eastern countries together. Before the pandemic, we did travel to Iran and one thing I noticed was the huge amount of respect men had for women there. It's crazy. I saw men carrying the kids, bags and what not just so their wives could walk freely. I've had more random men open and close doors for me, Pull out my chair, etc. Than anywhere else.

I had young girls tell me how their religion isn't against women but a lot of people who practice it are against women. The religion says that a woman's earning is her own but the husband's is theirs.

If I am being honest the Islamic culture is pretty toxic compared to what the religion it self preaches. Second why is she not saying men and women why bring the girls into this. 3rd... Well, respect is deserved honey.
