So my best friend (who I've known since undergrad) was promoted this past Monday. WOO! Her job has been giving her hell every day since she started so this was a much deserved win. I'm really proud of her, as are all of our friends and her family--or so she thought? Later that evening she called me, crying hysterically because her BF of 6 months had just broken up with her over the phone, telling her they're not a good match. She said she's completely blindsided. They've known each other as associates for 2 years and started dating in January of this year. She said he's never complained about anything prior to the break up or mentioned to her that he was unhappy. They had a fall trip planned that he paid for, too. He's the first person she told when she found out about her promotion.

I've hung out with them several times these past few months and to me he's always seemed wimpy and kinda cowardly AF but not like a total douche bag. She seemed really happy with her socially awkward guy, he has a great job and he's not ugly... He's like a 5 on a really good day. So I've just not said anything because I didn't want to degrade a guy she really cares about just because I think he's a wimp.

Anyway, she's extremely hurt and she's having a really hard time dealing with this. I've been calling her everyday to listen to her cry and to be there for her, but I feel helpless. I wish I could take the pain away and it really crushes me to see her like this over a 36 year old man who didn't even have the decency to not dump her on a special occasion.

All to say, LADIES, a man who will dump you on a special occasion is not a man who deserves to be anywhere near you. A man who will string you along and pretend like everything is fine and then blindside you with a breakup is a COWARD. The last thing you, me, any of us deserve is a NVM who inflicts this kind of emotional harm, and for no good reason. Complete trash.

Take care of yourselves. You come first.
