The red pill encourages them to date younger because they view women as a depreciating asset in a relationship. It’s to the point that, even by superficial measures, men will choose a much younger women over an objectively more attractive woman of the same age. Any focus on personality or emotional/social connection has gone out the window completely and did years ago. They justify it by saying that all women are the same, or AWALT (all women are like that). By that they mean we are all wanting men that they view as “better” than us. Of course we all know that men tend to overestimate their own attractiveness and women underestimate theirs. So every time he gets off to multiple super hot women on porn he thinks he’s having sex with them . No wonder they’re mad that “average” women have standards So I’d say the focus on younger is porn and posturing driven. They’re not out for relationships unless it’s with a naive young thing who doesn’t recognize their depravity. Why on the dating app Because you can only meet 20 yrs olds at universities. Once you are in the real world these guys can’t prey on younger workmates they will get fired. Their friends are all 40 plus and know 40+ women. That is the only way they can meet young women.

You are so right about the misogyny. These guys want toys to play with. They had the family and wife thing now they are looking to train burn and turn. Ei manipulate them to their ways, use them and toss them aside when they want more.

I'm not old enough for men my age to be setting their preferences to 15 years younger yet (it would be illegal), but if I see a man my age setting his preferences to more than 5 years younger, even if I still fall within his range, I would never date him.

On the other side of dating younger women for the purpose of having kids, I've also come across men who date younger because they want to be childfree.

I'm childfree and I'm a member in a childfree facebook group. A man in the group who seemed to be pushing 50 sent me multiple proposals for marriage before I blocked him.

In my country, old parents are typically taken care of by the children. Therefore a primary concern for people who choose to go childfree is not having children to take care of you when you're old.

Therefore some childfree men aim to marry women who are at least 15-20 years younger than themselves so that the wife is young enough to take care of them in old age. It's a double benefit to them. They get a young sex toy who will double up as nurse after a couple of decades.

Fortunately most childfree women understand that they benefit nothing from this and stay away from such marriages.

You say "ageism" but it's really "being creepy" or "predatory". I doubt these men are too picky about the ages of those that aren't their female romantic partners. It's specifically the creep factor, specifically towards women (or girls), specifically the desire to get someone vulnerable and malleable they can exploit.

I'm not on OLD anymore, but I had a similar process of ascertaining red flags from some men's age range. It's a simple thing but it tells you something about a person. Men in their 30s who had it set to say, 19-30. Would they seriously date a 19 year old? If they had a chance at an exploitative relationship they would take it.

When I was active on dating apps at age 30, I was talking to / going on dates with men in their early 40s. I’m very mature for my age, and my ex husband was my age, so I figured a man ten years older than me would be more mature / have his shit together (yeah, the joke was on me there!)

Also, at 30, I was done with marriage/kids (already did it), so I figured an older man would have already done those things, or would be less likely to want to have more children.

So that was my strategy as a newly divorced woman on a dating app for the first time in her life. The best part is, I ended up having the best times / most fulfilling experiences with guys younger than me! And my boyfriend (HVM) is four years younger than me. So go figure.

In my experience, dating apps are a cess pool of men that want women to manipulate. They have already ruined someone else's life and need to put up some image online to snag the next one. Younger is more maliable, and they also can't let go of the fact that they're getting older.
