I'm no longer dating (I've found a wonderful HVM) but as I was removing my profile from RSVP, I had a quick look at the guys that were on there for curiosity's sake. I was shocked at how many (more than 50%) were looking for women in the age range of 15 years (stopping at two years) below their age. I felt quite cranky at the blatant ageism that has proliferated on this platform. Why wouldn't you date someone your own age (or thereabouts)? The only reason I could think of dating purposefully younger is if you were definitely wanting kids, but these guys already had kids or did not want any. I don't know if I was reading too much into it, but I felt it was a expression of misogyny and general disrespect of women. I know that there are many wonderful and respectful men out there, but why are there so many disrespectful and ageist ones clustered on dating apps?
